I bought a low mileage time capsule JDM import a few months ago and immediately drove it cross country to California. Super smooth and a total sleeper. Gets tons of attention at enthusiast car shows and flies under the radar in everyday driving. Love it.
The W211 E-Class is absolutely my favorite E-Class ever because of how well it has fared in terms of reliability and styling. And the M113K engine is still an absolute monster; much more reliable than future AMG power plants.
Thanks for the video, I like your videos long time ago. I also have an 55 wagon with very rare purple seats (only 7 was sold in US). I love this beast, real sleeper ❤
You could get the third row seats in the trunk area on the w212 series as well 👍🏻 both pre facelift and face-lifted version. Love the engine in the E55. I have a 2014 E63s AMG wagon myself 😎
This channel was part of why I sought out an AMG. I ended up buying a S211 E55 after searching for a year. Fantastic car. Mine is pretty low spec for an AMG, but I do have the rear facing third row! Thanks for all the content.
@@TOShorts Two reasons primarily. 1. I prefer the subtle looks of the bodykit on the early car which I think better suits the 211's overall styling. 2. The M113K reputation for reliability is excellent wheras the M156 has some well documented issues. Now that I own the car, the supercharged characteristic and wave of low down torque I really enjoy and access more of the time - even with the family on board - Suits my useage of the car best.
I had one of the earliest S211s, a black 2003 model which I bought as a low-mileage Daimler administration car and collected at the factory in Stuttgart. I kept it for 10 years, one of the nicest cars I’ve had.
funny you post this, as I came across a Desert Silver Metallic one with no badging, but clearly the factory quad exhaust & brake package gave it away to me
84 inches. That's how long the dresser was that I could fit into my E55 wagon that my 2020 RAM 1500 couldn't hold without folding down the tailgate and using tie downs. The E55 wagon handled it just fine.
Interesting to hear about it being an Abu Dhabi car that went to Japan. I have an E55 sedan that was imported to Canada from Japan a couple of years ago but it was originally built for Oman, so the warning labels and fire extinguisher are all in English and Arabic, but the owners manual, first aid kit, and roadside assistance stuff (fix-a-flat, flashlight etc) are all in Japanese.
Thank you for quality Benz content 🙏 I personally own two E55 wagons, a 2006 and 2005 with 3rd row. Where did you manage to get the production numbers 215 for US market ? I thought there was 197 or something?
Theres one for sale about an hour away from me with 120k miles. I want to jump on it but im not familiar with these cars and engines. Id love to daily one of these wagons
There actually is the possibility for foldable rear seats for the sedan. It's just a really rare ticked option or it may be different in the US, but here in Germany it was an option.
Agreed 💯 though my favorite is the 212 chassis they did not come with the M 113 K partnered up with the 5speed auto. A match made in heaven. Anybody up for an engine swap M113 K in a 212 wagon?
Didn't know the e55 sedans don't allow you to fold the rear seats, in the sedan w204 there's two latches on the top of the trunk to pull to fold the seats down. Wonder why they didn't do that for the e55.
You still got a good 800xxxkm to go. Conforti brothers got 750k km on their e55 and always whines too. Nothing to worry about. This engine will probably do 1 million km easy.
Can someone please explain me why I have to wait 25 years to import an E5 AMG from another country To the US when they were already selling the E55 in the US Doesn't make sense at all
Because the car is not certified to US and EPA rules. That being said, you may be able to talk to a registered importer in the USA that can certify emissions standards on an imported (non-canadian) car but that may have some extra fees. I believe they list 2003-2004 e-class as a car that was sold in the US so it may work. www.nhtsa.gov/importing-vehicle
Best not modified car I own. Love it and going somewhere is never just a trip from A to B but a party. First of many fuel guzzling cars I have owned where I don't care about the gas mileage because it's such a blast to drive even after years of owning one. Mine has almost 420.000km on it currently of which the last 150.000 are on LPG. Here's a video of the regular gas and LPG comparison in acceleration. th-cam.com/video/FoT4qA8rH9c/w-d-xo.html
Wrong, the supercharger doesn't the mute the exhaust whatsoever. If you know how the Kompressor is set up and installed you would realise this is not possible. The reason stock M113k cars, such as the E55 are quieter is simply because it has very large restrictive mufflers compared to the later C63 M156 cars etc. The SLR had basically the same engine and produces a fabulous deep sound . The other reason the M113K is deeper is due to different valvetrain and lower compression.
I have a low mileage one in the same colour with the 7 seat option. Got rid of my 2019 C43 estate to buy a 2004 lol. But I love it so much more. Check it out on my channel .
This is a very clean example I have a us spec 05 s211 with 185k Bought it about 3 years ago with 160k for $14.5k usd. My family and friends love the third row seat! @amgfamilywagon

How was the import process? JDM VIN etc...
@@tomwoods1269 The car is plated and registered in Canada and will be returning soon. Before 25 years you CANNOT legally import a JDM VIN
Best car ever 😉
Great video! These wagons are alright.
Gotta love that oil pump whine on the m113. Sounds so unique, cant be mistaken for any other v8 on a cold start
The whine at cold start is also largely caused by the secondary air injection pump.
I've got same sound. First I thought is power steering pump.
Last. Change coolant pump and the sound is gone.
I think it also sound like a Cayenne Turbo’s V8 whine on startup

Lucky to own one for a few years now, definitely the best car money could buy and its so stealth 😁 I invite you to test drive it in Portugal 👍
Such a Cool car, and another great video!

The 211 is one of the prettiest cars ever built. I bought an E500 back in 2005. What a great car and engine.

always good informative videos.
Awesome once again, great information on E55 👍🇦🇺🇺🇸
Just great! Awesome car - Cool video! Always wanted one. There’ll come a day … Cheers boys and girls! Enjoy your E55’s …
The best E class is a w124 500E, but clearly this is a very nice car and is in fantastic condition
I would have loved to find one of these but good ones are becoming prohibitively expensive. Great content as always, keep it up!

What about that unimog 👀
Do you know where to get wiring diagram specifically relating to the antenna modules relating to the antennas for the audio system
In europe on the sedan you could get folding rear seats as an option on non amg models, maybe you could get it also on amg models, but only in europe🤷

Are those mismatched rear headrests stock?
I don’t think they are mismatched, two of them are just folded.
Nice to see/hear even a low km example still has a noisy oil pump. Maybe there's some life left in my 190xxxkm E55 pump

Correct

Neither does the E63s

Loved my m156 e63 and cls63 never been a fan of the supercharger muted the exhaust a little
I love my CLS55, the M113k has more tuning potential. But you are right, the M156 NA V8 is more raw in nature and also a very impressive engine!
