love your choice of music. Brings me back to the early to mid 70s....a nostalgic time for me....in fact....your whole trip here reminds me of the ole hippie days back then. A lot of young people were out and about across the country at the time...trying to find themselves and avoid the draft. thanks for sharing !
You guys are just awesome! Keep pushing...and like you stated: Suck it up, Buttercup! "Embracing the suck"-moments will...with some distance...turn into some of your best memories!

Love how you captured the wildlife in all your videos! I don't think I've ever seen a vlog of the PCT with this many wildlife moments. Some amazing closeups. I'm a big reptile fan so all your spiny lizards have been very cool. Also liked the use of "Dust in the Wind" on the soundtrack!
Curious why people seem to think Kennedy Meadows North is the end of the Sierras? Geologically they end around the North Fork of the Feather River, just south of Lassen.
@@tammyjarvis3699 Depends on what you mean by high! The PCT does drop below 10,000 feet (about 3,000 m) just north of Sonora Pass, but it's still above 7,000 feet (about 2,100 m) until a bit south of Sierra City. Still so grateful for your videos. Maybe when you are finished you guys could do an online class on vloging on the trail. Filming, editing, photos...I'd sign up in an instant!
A couple of days after you finished this leg, I did a shakedown trip in Yosemite for the Tahoe Rim Trail. The bugs were by far the worst I've ever seen in the Sierra. Glad you got through them in just a day!
Perfect videography, great music and great to catch up with you. Wish it was longer, just me wanting to live vicariously through your vids. Seems like forever since your last vid dropped. I'll just have to watch it twice!!! One question, you may be there or not by now but are you guys going to do the 24hr challenge? Wouldn't blame you if you didn't but interested to know. Really love the Channel good luck with the end of this map and the start of the next. Can't wait until the next video again, have to say it, love the map. Was it just me or was there an instrumental that sounded very similar to Bon Jovi? Not quite, but you could hear the similarities. 'Wanted, Dead or Alive'. Love the 'Time to say goodbye'. Nice touch 😆 How many pairs of walking shoes have you gone through each? Will you be doing a Q&A at all? Bottom line, love the Channel and by the time we see this you will no doubt be at the half way mark!!! If not, very close.
You guys made some seriously big miles through the Sierra. I hope you are able to focus on the world around you and the world within you and not just focus on the miles. I know that can become a big trap on a through hike. I'm not one of those people who says you can't enjoy the views while hiking 20+ miles per day. I just don't want either of you to burn out because the miles become your focus; I enjoy your videos too much. :-)
I think by this stage most thru-hikers are pushing 20+ miles every day. But yeah, rooting for them to make it to Canada which I think they will complete with their tenacity and raw grit and determination.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling In the Sierra? It's not just the miles, it's the elevation loss and gain and the elevation that you are hiking at. For instance, 20 miles per day in northern California is easier than 15 miles per day in the Sierra in my experience. Because in NorCal you are only averaging around 4,000 feet of elevation gain and loss over those 20 miles and you're staying below 8,000 feet in elevation. In the Sierra, you are looking at the same or greater elevation gain and loss in 15 miles and you are rarely below 9,000 feet, least of all 8,000 feet. But, again, my point was I'm NOT one of those people that says you can't enjoy the scenery at 2 mph. It just seemed they were getting a little burned out, and that can be a result of focusing on the miles instead of the experience, for me anyway. I find it can be difficult to set aside an itinerary, but if I focus on everything around me, ostensibly why I'm out there, and not in keeping to a schedule, I hike just as many miles or at least 90% as many, and I actually enjoy it. Maybe I'm different, but focusing on the miles drags me down, and they seemed to be looking a little worn. I was worried it was not necessarily the number of miles but that they were focusing on the miles. (Sorry for the length, trying to explain what I was gettng at and my reason behind it.)
Yup, skeeters are a royal pain EVERYWHERE, but I STILL envy you on your journey on the PCT. SO wish I could be out there, but at least I can see it thru your eyes. Thanks for sharing. Is it me or does the male half of the PCT duo death march seem a little more up in this episode? Getting rid of bear cans could make anyone less grumpy.....
I hated Benson pass. Going up was fine, it was the going down that I hated. Too rocky. . . . As bad as the mosquitos were I never used my bug net but I used more DEET in 15 days than I did in 2019 & 2020 combined of 2,000 miles of the PCT. The word I used for the skeeters this year is "MADDENING" . . . There's a scale at Kennedy Meadows so you can see how much weight you lost. I lost 15 pounds in 20 days but I also spent 1 day in VVR eating and 3 days in Mammoth eating while waiting out thunder storms and hail. I still had 5 pounds of fat left over I could have lost. I'll try again next year maybe.
Hey both, enjoying your videos and its helping me get info on my section hike of the PCT, CA sections I and J this summer, quick query, you mention that you are rushing to catch a shuttle service from Señora pass to Kennedy meadows, can you tell me if the shuttle service is an independent business or is it a service offered by Kennedy meadows themselves? many thanks!
Kennedy Meadows North themselves. Information about their timing was on their website and on guthook. While we were coming through there was a morning and and afternoon shuttle.
Love watching your vlogs. Out of curiosity for my PCT thru next year. Did y’all spray your clothes at all or are the mosquitos 🦟 just repellent mutants these days? I had a night like that on the TRT a few weeks ago and it was nuts! I hope you get more breezes as the trail continues. Keep those suckers away!
When did you get into Kennedy Meadow North? I got here yesterday and its crazy to see how much snow you had - for me it was pretty much nothing left except one tiny small patch :(
I just moved it to my fanny pack. The shoulder strap device was great for a little while but got frustrating to use as it got stuck a lot being full of dirt and dust, and my camera got SO dusty up there. Oakley
Hi You Two (smiles & hugs) There is one (1) common theme through out all your videos on this journey of the Pacific Crest Trail. It is this >>>> "He should NOT B hiking"

Respecting people for their own personalities not the ones you want them to have is important when you make the choice to insert yourself into their world.
