    Its a basic car I don't care for all the extra bull that all new cars have the 2.0l is fine it's been an ultra reliable engine. Easy to maintain. 166hp in a little car like that is plenty.

      I can't believe he said there's no place to put bags in the front of a car with 4 seats and a boot🤣🤣.

      In North America, bags usually means handbags, especially in context. Hope that clarifies things for you.

    I don’t understand why people esp reviewers are so caught on the 0-60 time. In the real world what exactly does that matter. When buying a car people have expectations that are not in line with real lives and how the car will serve them. Can you fit your groceries in the car? Will it be easy to drive around the parking lot at work? Will I be able to fit my kids stroller or elderly parents walker in it when I have them. That’s the need that most people need in a everyday vehicle. Not I can go 0-60 in blah blah blah. That’s the point of this car.

    • @thestudentdrivercarreviews
      @thestudentdrivercarreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      0 to 60 would only really matter if you enjoy driving. If a car had slower acceleration than a city bus, it’s probably better to walk to your destination.

      Hi Zoran, I'm happy to hear that you liked the EcoSport! Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some really good things that the EcoSport does right. I guess I'm just a bit spoiled as a car reviewer which makes me rate the EcoSport the way I did.

    Really a nice video, you covered about the car in details.. ES SE is launched in India recently. All other versions have rear mounted Stepney wheel. I have ES Titanium MT with 1.5 turo diesel engine. One of the VFM diesel car in its segment and cheap to maintain with awesome driving dynamics.

    I have a 2012 Focus same engine 5 speed manual. 120,000 miles and I am still averaging 39 miles per gallon. The Ecosport is heavier. The heavier the vehicle the more energy to move, so you burn more fuel.. And it's a subcompact so yes it is going to be under powered.

    • @thestudentdrivercarreviews
      @thestudentdrivercarreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Stephen, I agree with you. It definitely is going to be heavier than the focus and since it’s uses the same platform, it goes without saying how that would negatively impact performance. Thanks for watching the review!

    • @stephenm8100
      @stephenm8100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thestudentdrivercarreviews the Eco also has a heavier transmission for that 2000 lb. towing capacity and the 4 WD. For a small vehicle that is not bad. I tow with my Focus. It can pull 1000 lb.

    • @thestudentdrivercarreviews
      @thestudentdrivercarreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s pretty awesome that you tow with your focus.
      1000lbs shouldn’t be too much of a problem although the brakes are gonna be warm after!

      @@thestudentdrivercarreviews people are taught and driver's ed to drive two car lengths ahead to avoid an accident. Years ago I was giving a small booklet about how to save fuel and wear and tear on your car. This suggested drive eight car lengths ahead of you accelerate slowly keep your tires inflated and if you see a red light or stop sign take your foot off the gas when you're half a mile away and just cruise to it. Avoid using the air conditioning and stop and go traffic if you're on the highway turn it on after you reach cruising speed. That alone will save 10-15 percent and get more life out of your alternator. A stick shift will save another 10 to 15% . Don't make sudden lane changes to save your suspension. I don't remember what this booklet was called or who wrote it but it had a bunch of advice like that and it works. My car had the original brakes until 115,000 MI I didn't need the suspension worked on until 105,000 MI. The main message is don't drive in a hurry or angry.

    • @thestudentdrivercarreviews
      @thestudentdrivercarreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you 100 percent. Drive smoothly and you’ll notice your fuel economy go up immediately. The opposite, conversely. Still super impressive though how you were able to keep your car in such good shape for so long due to just some simple, effective driving habits.

    EcoSport is actually a good car. Ahead of its competition. Well... Back in 2013 that is. Now, when all competitors leap forward, it seems that EcoSport does not.

    • @thestudentdrivercarreviews
      @thestudentdrivercarreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, side opening doors have their place. I guess I'm used to the standard liftgare style as I find the side doors personally awkward because it opens in an arc that takes the entire rear area, whereas I just duck a bit for the standard liftgate.

    Pass. It’s so antiquated and doesn’t offer active safety systems. A Kia Seltos or Hyundai Kona are much better options.

      Except that the dismal low ground clearance does not work for me as we presently own a 2017 Hyundai Tucson AWD with 6.3" minimal ground clearance, and in the winter this car frequently gets hung-up in deeper snow. The Eco Sport has a more acceptable 7.8" minimal ground clearance for our northern Ontario winters.
