I really enjoyed this video! Especially that you got hands on experience out there in real time off roading, coming from a Jeep Wrangler owner it’s nerve-racking and fun at the same time out on the trails. One of your best videos yet! It was pretty, funny also! Keep up the great work.
The more vids i watch of car reviewers driving the wrangler 4xe the more excited i am to test drive the 4xe grand cherokee in a few months! Never have i seen all the car reviewers have so mich fun test driving a vehicle!
Great job. Also, although the gas mileage story is a little more nuanced than you represented (MPGe isn’t actually a representative gas mileage rating), you had the best description of pricing I’ve seen from a journalist to-date on the 4xe. Also great job on both the street and off-road sections. Thank you.
MPGE is one of those things that is difficult for a lot of people to understand. Look at all the dealer videos out there telling people they are going to get 49MPG in a 5,000 pound vehicle.
The 4Xe is just about the only off-roading plug-in hybrid, with real 4WD, that I could find, that is rated to tow 3,500 lbs. My plan is to tow a Rockwood HW277, an expandable camper that sleeps 6, has an indoor shower, and toilet. When towing something that heavy it cuts all-electric driving by about half, to about 12 miles.
Sofyan: Are you in 4 drive auto? (This is a transmission setting) Rob: Yes, I'm in Hybrid! (This is a powertrain setting). Rob probably lost because he left the Rubicon in 2WD.
Great Video as always! I got a 2021 SnazzBerry Sahara a couple weeks ago, softtop, no options except for gorilla glass and remote entry (Sahara comes with so much as is). As you can see from my profile picture, My old Jeep Rubicon 2007 (one of the first Jks made) I've beat the hell and back is still going strong (many mods)! Anyway with the 4XE I can go full electric to work, drive to lunch and back home and still have about 4-10% battery left! Very cool! It's Jeep so I have a front bumper with winch plate, rear bumper, and a mopar 2 in 4xe specific lift on the way. All I can say is I love it! It's Super fast and quite actually. I can't wait to take it to do some serious off-roading! Interesting point same Axles as Rubicon, I'll add a rear locker and be set!
Very fun video. My Rubicon 4xe is being built now. If you lease the $7500 fed tax credit comes off as a DOWN PAYMENT so it makes this Wrangler far more affordable then the other non 4xe configurations. I was able to opt for more options and get the Rubicon due to the rebate. IE down payment. Again, love this review, I really felt like I was with you on those rocks, "terrifying". LOL.
Interesting video, not a big Jeep fan. But I can appreciate Jeep trying to offer different variety for the consumer such as a Hybrid, V6, and 6.4l Hemi V8.
I have a 2023 2xe. I love it. I live close to work so I use very little gas during the week. I actually startles me when the gas engine comes on because Im not uaed to hearing it. So fun to go through the forest with no sound. I waited over 25 years for my dream wrangler and its so neat that its a hybrid. One thing I have realized owning a plug in vehicle, we are no where close to being ready for all new cars to be electric only. The infrastructure is not there. Thank goodness I can run on gas also.
Great review. I have a 2021 2 door Sport that I'm thinking of trading in for 4xe. Mine has the Mopar Headliner which is a must as it really does help with noise levels. It's pretty quiet most of the time.
If going full convertible is important to you, I reccomened the power retractable top. I wish I had gotten one with mine. Look into it and see if its right for you😊
Fun, clear, very concise. Great review, very much enjoyed this. Not just the specs but more importantly your "feel of the pants" impressions. Thank you.
My 2007 was first year, and 14 years later, never been to the dealer, other than recalls. I replaced the Alternator, and battery a few times, that's it. I course I've put on 3 different lifts and mods. I think the computer designed era has helped significantly for first year cars.
You definitely want the painted bumpers and wheel arch's , my neighbors has a 2014 and black cladding is already gray and ashy it looks really bad and it's been like that for a long time
Oh yeah. Definitely. On film the inclines and downhills don’t look like a big deal until you are driving one and it feels like your going to flip over.
Great video!!! Can you tell me where this Jeep off-road course is located?? I recall you said 2 hours south of Austin - just trying to figure out where that is exactly. Thanks!!
Seems like a fit for me. Most my daily driving is under 25 miles...so all electric could save money and be cleaner. I can still pull the top and enjoy it. Then on trips I have the gas motor to get me to Moab or other locations where I can use the Rubicon to go wheeling for fun. I have to admit the complexity of the hybrid makes me concerned about the long term costs...and wondering if a 3.6 or diesel may actually be better?? On the other hand if gas goes up to $5 a gallon and electric costs stay the same or even drop, the 4XE sounds like a huge money saver.
Yes all electric is fantastic, especially if you have a short daily commute. The only issue tho is that if you don’t use the gas engine enough , the vehicle will go into FORM. This cuts out the electric availability until the criteria are met to satisfy getting out the FORM. Until then you will have gas only….
Genuine question here, so it’s a known fact that 2wd vehicles get better gas mileage most times, is it possible that you could maximize the mpg you get in the 4xE to almost match what they claim which is a combination of 49mpg, a lot of people complain about that being a scam cause ultimately they’ve ended up averaging 35 mpg on hybrid which is still good imo considering it’s a jeep that performs the way it does, but I can’t help but wonder if traveling in 2wheel drive mode at highway speeds could boost the mpg figures to maybe 40mpg, in the Sahara or high altitude models at least because they have the non off-road tires which is an advantage as the huge off-road tires may be great for ground clearance for off-roading but bad for getting good mpg and city driving which most people who get rubicons end up doing anyway. But yeah if anyone sees the sense in what I’m saying or has even found what I’m saying to be true I’d really love to know cause I believe if you forfeit the 5.5/6 seconds 0-60 acceleration on 4 wheel drive and drive constantly on 2wheel drive, you could average better gas mileage that’s close enough to what jeep claims for the wrangler 4xE models.
Plugin hybrids usually are attractive only in markets where high (CO2) taxes play a substantial role when purchasing or leasing a car or truck. In say "normal" car markets plugins are too expensive and too risky repair / complexity wise.
@@superset5 not everyone leases, but I understand that car companies prefer it. Their ultimate goal is for them to own the car and you basically rent it from them, soon after you wont even drive it yourself.
Thanks for the very good review of the battery and gas combination on this jeep. I'm assuming the 2022 grand cherokee will have this same set up and specs.
No the 4xe has both the 2hi 4hi 4lo transfer case as well as a clutch with a basically awd drive mode called 4auto that transfers power to axles as needed
My heart screams Yes get the hybrid, but my brain says , Oh wait, it’s not a Tesla but a Fiat 1st Gen hybrid. How’s that gonna work out? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
That drag race between you and rob was hilarious!!
Would have had more of an impact if they were actually "in drag" ... just sayin' ...
42 minutes?? Oh yeah I’m getting my snacks for this one!
But are you sharing?
Just picked one up yesterday with my wife we are in love best wrangler for daily city commute! Thank you for the awesome review Sofyan!
With all these new EVs and Hybrids making weird spaceship noises, the streets are going to sound like a sci-fi theme park pretty soon.
Jetsons
I will never understand, why you have so little subscribers. You've been the best reviewer for years, hands down.
Again, he has almost a million! Let it go.
14:40 ahaha “two Karen’s are gonna race” idk why but that just sorta stuck with me 😂
He's not wrong
As someone who drives less than 20-30 miles 75% of the time this is very tempting. I get a Jeep Rubicon and days of gas-free driving.
Great video, Sofyan. I like when you test off road vehicles. Have a great week.
As someone who has gotten stuck in snow several times, a Jeep is real tempting lol
There are so many other cars that can get you through snow without getting a jeep. Hell even a awd camry with a set of blizzaks can do that.
Huge difference with interior noise with hardtop Vs soft top
Maybe, but hard top is still much noisier inside than the cheapest car.
Indeed it is. I got the hardtop and it’s noisy but not as noisy as I expected.
I really enjoyed this video! Especially that you got hands on experience out there in real time off roading, coming from a Jeep Wrangler owner it’s nerve-racking and fun at the same time out on the trails. One of your best videos yet! It was pretty, funny also! Keep up the great work.
This video made me so happy. I ordered my 4xe 2 weeks ago, and this made me justified in the decision. GREAT JOB

Sofyan I bet you'll never forget this experience!!! I need to try this, heck I need to get this jeep!!
Sofyan: Are you in 4 drive auto? (This is a transmission setting)
Rob: Yes, I'm in Hybrid! (This is a powertrain setting).
Rob probably lost because he left the Rubicon in 2WD.
This is exactly what happened.
always love some off-roading in the texas hill country 😍
Do you know where this trail is?? I’m trying to locate it.

Just ordered the high altitude 4xe!! Thanks for the great review. Will miss my Durango SRT but it’s time for a Hybrid 🚙
Does this jeep really get over 40 mpg in hybrid mode?

A very informative video. The details about the road and off-roading capabilities as well as the new added features were excellent.
Thanks for showing and explaining the cut-away frame... good job guys!

42 minutes long?! Omg seeing that gave me butterflies.
Great review, I got a really good sense of what it would be like to drive one, from this review.
wow that was so nerve-wrecking! seems like a lot of fun!
Nice in depth review. Looking forward to taking delivery of our Sahara.
This is a great, comprehensive review of the 4xe. Thanks!!
Kudos for talking tech on that much traffic. Well done.
Pretty impressive vehicle. Not sure I'd want to own the first year of production, but that's true of most first-year cars these days.

Awesome review! Very entertaining watching it and you go through the off-road course. The drag race was too.
that was fun to watch, thanks. I would like to run that course with spotters.....
This is good review, you were having fun 🤩

You definitely want the painted bumpers and wheel arch's , my neighbors has a 2014 and black cladding is already gray and ashy it looks really bad and it's been like that for a long time
Where did you test drive the jeep at? Exact location please...looks good for mountain bikes
Yaaaaasssss MORE OFF ROADING VIDEOS PLEASE
You really do a great job reviewing. You got a new sub!!!
And Jeep, just got another 4xe customer!!
Sounds like a Jaws movie, scrubbing those skid plates!!!!
Excellent show of Wrangler 4xe. Now I’m happier to have mine!
Ordering one tomorrow. So stoked!
I hate to say it but I love my new 4xe, even more than the 4Runner I traded.
This is great if you will be using your Jeep as a commuter and as an off roader
I was smiling for 42 minutes straight.
7:51 Gotta put it on eSave mode so that when you get to the mall you can use the all electric mode to crawl over those speed bumps lol.
Oh yeah. Definitely. On film the inclines and downhills don’t look like a big deal until you are driving one and it feels like your going to flip over.
You asked if he had it in 4wheel auto.. he responded he had it in hybrid. Don't think he understood. Explains him going slower.

It was a little nerve-wracking driving up Rock. I was scared for you. I would chicken out!!!
Great video! The Sahara Trim is looking like it’s my pick. Any word on if this power train is coming to the Gladiator?
Excellent work. Love the concept
Does the Jeep app tell you the charge also?
Looks like my hometown of Austin TX!
Not gonna lie, I'd thought I hate more, I'd totally buy it if I was rich
I was on the edge of my sit
the hybrid, my dream car
2 hours south of Austin Texas?
You mean San Antonio?

Amazing!
Probably one of your best!
Some questions? 🤔
What is the warranty for an 4xe?
Is their a battery replacement?
What’s the longevity of an electric vehicle?
3 years bumper to bumper, 5 year 60,000 powertrain, 10 years 100,000 miles for battery and hybrid powertrain.
Oh hey redline reviews when you gonna review the lyriq ev?
Whenever Cadillac releases it. LoL
When you say you put it into "4x4 auto" at the stoplight with Rob, did you mean you were shifting the transfer case into 4High? Fun video, thanks.

How many miles does it give you on just eV mode? in comparison with Hybrid. Please provide a rough estimate, peaceout from Toronto.
You said the jeep is loud. Do you think it's because the engine is quieter than normal?
I am about to buy a 4xe Sahara , can I really take it off road ? Or should I consider paying for the rubicon?
Thanks man, you do great work.. keep it up
Sofyan, will you be getting a Mustang Mach E to test soon? Great review if the 4xE, need that V8!!!
Nice job my man. Been thinking about one of these.
I just passed 1700 miles on mine and I’m loving it.
Such a good review video! Loved it thank you!!
The cabin noise is deal breaker for me, such a cool car, too bad I like quieter vehicle.
I was about to start bitching once I saw it had 5 ad stops but then I saw it was 42 mins long and thought "I'll allow it" lol.
Have you tested the diesel? Thoughts on the two comparatively?
thats dope, my next buy will be ev jeep, hopefully all electric in a few years.. an all ev model.
Do you think it would be quieter with the hard top?
amazing. i was holding my breath as well lol. nice one!
My electric miles increases its been increasing since I got it 6/7 ago I navigate 29 miles per electric It said 22 when I first purchased it
V8 > Electric but I have seen tons of new Jeep Wranglers people love them.
IMO Petrol > Battery and EV motor > ICE
Best video, great stuff man! :)
My 2018 2.0 with Etorque gets 22-24MPG, 20 in the city being throttle happy. Your getting 20........ ?
I can buy one 4xE now, and it's just released. I still can't the RAV4 prime or the plug-in escape. How long have those 2 been out?...
that steep hill just looks like one in san francisco lol
I hope they offer this on the Grand Cherokee.
