If a creature has the ball it gains "Tap: Pass the ball to another creature you control" and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, draw a card". Whenever a creature with the ball is blocked, it passes the ball to a creature that blocked it of its controller's choosing.

I think something cool for jigsaw cards could be reintroducing trap instants, and it could be various traps from the movies that all have the classic “pay 0” text as the other traps do and each does something different. For example the reverse bear trap you could cast for free if the opponent who’s turn it is doesn’t attack any of your opponents and it makes them lose half their life (like how in the movie if Amanda didn’t “attack” her cell mate to get the key the bear trap would go off)
Enchantment: whenever a player commits a foul against a permanent an opponent controls, opponents flips a coin. For every heads, opponent puts a +1/+1 on target creature.
Committing a foul is targeting it?
11:44 I think it would be perfect if they had reach and first strike IF EQUIPPED. That would represent that gear belt they have to wear perfectly.
FromSoftware games would be a badass set. Flip walkers for the "main" characters like The Chosen Undead or The Ashen one, a new reverse The Ring effect of igniting the First Flame, plenty of cool Equipment and Boss legendary creatures. FromSoftware would be a #1 choice for me. (Also shoutout to the Venusaur love, best starter).
The Ball gives +2/+2 and reach, creature must attack if able and must be blocked if able.

I have a few ideas for almost every one of these. I think the one I kinda like the most if funnily from the coaster set. The coaster that was blue and flipped into green, and made a token of itself scute swarm style. Basically you could do that where you can only tranform it once per turn, and when it transforms you make a copy of the first side, then if you control 3/4 of the transformed ones youd win the game. Kinda does both of what Cam was wanting from that (and some other) cards. Similar to Biovisonary
If it was for me to create it, the basketball would be like this:
Whenever ~basketball player card~ ETBs you create The Ball, a legendary artifact equipment token with "equiped creature gains +2/+2, trample, haste and vigilance.
Whenever a creature an opponent controls deals combat damage to equipped creature, give control of The Ball to that opponent and equip The Ball to that creature.
2: equip The Ball to a creature you control"

the ball - equipment - when equiped creature deals combat damage to a player give the ball to that opponent. when equipped creature leaves the battlefield give the ball to another player. if 4 or less damage was done you get 2 points. if 5 or more damage was done you get 5 points.
and then the player cards get buffs the more points you have or the more points that creature has scored
The Ball mechanic could be like Strixhaven Stadium where X point means you win. Or it could be a reprint of Contested Game Ball from LCI.
A mini game in a game.
Make it where you can pay 1 or 2 to pass the ball (equip to another creature), but you can only pass twice per turn. And each time a creature with the ball deals combat damage (make a bucket), the creature gets a +1/+1 counter (heating up), but if a creature that attacked while equipped with the ball doesn’t deal combat damage to a player this turn, it gains a a -1/-1 counter (cooling off)
We need a Game of Thrones universes beyond - we already got LoTR, can’t be that much harder than that

Duuuude Bleach would be amazing! I could imagine making planeswalker versions of major characters like Ishida, with all his shenanigans.
I think a Death Note set could definitely benefit from some sort of payoff for writing the name of a creature, like a tap ability on an artifact called Death Note, then, for a cost, clear that "list" and exile all creatures named? 😊😮

I had to refresh because the video menu/overlay disappeared, and I wanted to rewind. Then I had to watch two ads again, and it bugged out again. I refreshed, watched the ads for a third time, and the same thing happened. So then I copied the title, closed my entire browser, reloaded, and when I pasted the title of this video into youtube it didn't even come up. At least I've been reminded 4 times today that I should get a beard + ball trimmer, lol.
i think the reason a lotta custom magic stuff transforms is it is just the best way to depict character growth, unless you have space in a set to depict a character at multiple stages of life (like the lotr set) its gonna be easier n more flavorful to print em as flip cards.
also corvo should be an mdfc with a pacifist and chaos side and you can only cast the chaos side if you have morbid or something
I really enjoy making custom Secret Layers for stuff like this and actually just made one for Super Smash Bros and Pokemon :P
My favorite to design was Samus, since I realized you can give her Morph (as in Morph Ball) and when she unmorphs she can perform a Bomb Jump (gains temporary flying and Discovers 3, to represent how bombs in her games often open secret passages with powerups inside).
Dungeon mechanic for the basketball theme could be cool where is a multi person dugeon where the 'ball' starts in the center and it moves one way during upkeeps. maybe make the 'ball' like coveted jewel based on damage or any player may activate this equip cost where it has to be higher than the creatures power?

The ball could be an equipment with indestructible and "Equipped creature has trample and whenever a creature with the ball deals combat damage to an opponent put a +1/+1 counter on it and you gain 2 life. Then that opponent chooses a creature they control. That creature has the ball."
Pass would just move an equipment or if there is no ball create one attached to a creature you control.
40:02 I built a deck with Volo, Itinerant Scholar and Cultist of the Absolute with that theme. It had the option to foretell a bunch of removal cards like how you can write the cause before the name in the notebook. There were a few things that represent shinigami. Willbreaker to represent the ability of the notebook to control the victims. Demonic tutor could be ryuk. Misa misa could be mari, the k--ing quill. Rem is visara the dreadful. I just had so much fun with this deck

For the Dragonball UB I would make the saiyans have "when this creature takes damage but isn't detroyed, put a number of +1/+1 counters on it equal to its power." to immitate a zenkai boost.
As for death note i would think Light would have an activated ability that says "target creature gets fading 3, put 3 fading counters on it. Its controller investigates".
I feel like adding a mechanic for Bioshock like energy counters but they use Adam instead and then you can cast plasmids and other powers like the tonics from infinite. (Maybe they have Little Sister cards and if you choose to cure them or harvest them it gives you different amounts of Adam for it but also gives you a bonus for saving them to keep it on flavor)

For Deathnote, Ryuk should etb and you search for an artifact named Deathnote, then it functions like wishclaw talisman except it destroys instead of tutors and you pass it to someone else
Had a thought about the super hero stuff at the ~ 9:10 ~ mark. You could just make it so that they have a modified version of "More than meets the eye" from the double sided transformers cards except its called something like "Superhero Landing" and can be played at flash speed if you're being attacked.
I've got so many ideas for Universes Beyond things, but my number 1 pick has to be Call of Duty Zombies because I feel like there is just a lot of potential with the characters and their backstories, and there are also lots of different important artifacts as well as a lot of unique zombies and zombie types, AND there's even the Apothicons which are kinda Eldrazi-esque, so I feel like a lot of cards could be really big fan favorites for people who like those things, plus the only guns you'd really include would be like the Ray Gun and Wonder weapons like that so it's not really dipping too hard into real life things.

Conan Wilt Chamberlain would be goated, Allen Iverson unblockable with his crossover. Then they could do a Post Malone secret lair with a white Iverson version.
Matrix Universes Beyond could use a similar mechanic to the sectors ruling on Space Beleren. You divide the battlefield into the Matrix and the real world. Some characters have abilities that move them between the two or give them bonuses when they are in the Matrix.
Ghostrider NEEDS to buff vehicles and mounts.
An Attack on Titan secret lair would be an excellent
opportunity to give Wall tribal some support.
When Colossal Titan attacks, destroy all walls defending player controls.
The Nintendo one would need a Kogla and Yidaro reprint as Donkey Kong and Bowser.
The Dragon Ball one would need a "Ha-Kai" card that has "destroy target creature or land."
Berserk would need lots of demon, soldier, and cleric type cards for sure. Skeleton Knight needs an attack trigger similar to Ravenous Tyrannosaurus, I think, and some of the demons will need Devour. Behelit of the King and Dragonslayer as legendary artifacts.
I can see a basketball set instead be those players in a magic setting versus them playing basketball on the card. Like Luka is a wizard and has very supportive mechanics for his 'teammates'. Or Dearon Fox has haste and is maybe a king with speed magic or something
Really late to the party on this one, but just the other week I was thinking about a Berserk themed "reskinned" Malcom (Puck) Tymna (Guts) cEDH deck. The thing that kicked it off was imagining a Doomsday proxy depicting the scene from the start of the series where Guts confronts the Godhand. Demonic Tutor featuring Nosferatu Zodd, etc etc.
I know magic is your go to heavy focus game, but I feel like the both of you would really dig competitive pokemon - particularly something like a draft league. Tons of interesting synergies, a cool social element, and infinite ways to fiddle with different builds
The attack on titan one could have equipment cards of the with the 3D maneuvering gear that gives reach and haste, their blades could give double strike, and the thunder spears could remove indestructible from target creature. The horror movie one could use the fear mechanic.
I would love a One Piece UB so much. Not only because im a fan but also because there is so much that can be done with it. Devil fruits are wacky and super diverse. And the story is huge and full of characters in a world full of adventures and different islands.
Ok we need to talk more about this NBA idea. Having a 'ball' token, yes, genius. Your objective is to 'score', ie whatever creature has the ball needs to deal combat damage to a player. So 'Pass' is a way to swap the ball so you can give it to an unblocked creature. Then you've got various effects that apply to a score, like Layup, Dunk, Fadeaway, 3 pointer etc. Then players have extra effects, like Shaq has Trample and "Backboard Breaking Dunk: Whenever Shaq Dunks, destroy target artifact or enchantment that opponent controls".
I have this Proxy for Ranger-Captain of Eos that's Ash Ketchum with a Esper Sentinel that is Pikachu. I think Trainers would fit great as creatures as well.
Dishonored I would see more like the Strixhaven MDFC. You get to choose if you go the high chaos route or the low chaos route. On one side Corvo would be Black/White, the other Black/red? Could be cool!
On the avatar thing, notably not a lot of black in the doctor who commander cards, mostly just the evil characters

For the Misfits you can also bring in the Crimson Ghost mascot and can delve into the lore in some of their music videos where they are zombies coming after the fans
The pokemon with evolutions could use the level up mechanic like level 1-3 is Squirtle, level 4-6 is Wartortle and level 7+ is Blastoise

Whenever I see custom cards, I see people struggling to make their custom cards actually work in the rules.
I wonder if I should offer people help with this. It's always a fun exercise to rewrite a custom card to actually read like a real card.
For the saiyan transformations, it could be like a tap sacrifice and tutor for the next form kinda thing. And different forms had different costs n such.

My idea for expressing the Bleach swords: Give the Shinigami effects like Evolved Sleeper has. Slowly pump more mana into them to get them from sealed to shikai to bankai.

Roller coasters could be instants that give you extra attacks or phases and lose them on later turns due to dizziness.
If you're interested in seeing the execution of a 3 sided card, check out the Ant-Man card from Marvel Champions, really neat idea. Very impractical for how MtG prints cards, but a neat idea
They already made a secret lair from this so I don't think it makes the cut for this vid. But my pick is easily League of Legends / Runeterra. There are over 150 legends to choose from, a shit ton of abilities for instants/sorceries, a whole shop for equipment/artifacts/enchantments. You could very easily do a whole set of it.

Kinda like chosing a ring-bearer, you chose a ball-handler, when you pass, chose a "Roll Token" like a "Pick and Roll" the new creature with possession gets to chose 1 of 3 roll screens. Now I'm just imagining someone setting up a rip screen for Etali and etali with his little dinosaur hands trying to cut into the paint, to dunk on a blue farm player. 😂
My number 1 is 100% the Supernatural TV series. SO many things they could do with that; characters, locations, references, moments, equipment, auras, everything. The only reason they probably never will is because of the religious representation in the show.
Look up “Optimus Prime, Inspiring Leader” for the first MtG 3-sided card. The back face and folding face is for the Transformers TCG, but they could keep the tech around if they really wanted.
And I’m commenting a lot on this one at two so far, but I’m loving this episode. I have a cool idea for Deadpool. What if when he enters the battlefield each opponent sacrifices a creature that would play to his mercenary skills but his power and toughness are hilariously low like a 1/1 and you also give him the cast from anywhere affect. That would kind of show Deadpool‘s silly side like go ahead and attack me or kill me. I’m just gonna come back in merc your creatures again. I feel like that place to his silly and shit talking kind of play

I have thought about this a lot, and nothing compares for me personally but a set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer commander decks would make me happy beyond words. Scoobies, Angel Investigations, Big Bads, Little Bads.
Roller coasters could be like Battles, tbh. Something that has a way to effect the whole board, but also once they're been engaged with (maybe removed all the counters on it) whoever was responsible gets additional benefits.
Smash bros would be outstanding!

I'd love to see an NFL Universes Beyond set. They could give each of the 32 NFL teams a unique color identity to represent them.
Pats, WUR, obviously. Saints could be WB, Buccs WBR, Seahawks UG, and so on. The Browns could be the colorless team since they'd be "mono-brown" like the old artifact frame.
the game Force of Will had three sided cards. they folded in the middle. outer upper was one card, then it changed into outer bottom, then you unfolded it and flipped it over and it was a full art third.
Marvel champions, the living card game, does this for characters like ant man and angel (bc of archangel) since they do flip from secret identity to hero.

For Pokemon you could do gyms that work like dungeons and you go through different rooms or trainers until you get to the end gym leader.

You could just use the hanweir garrison design for evolved Pokémon… 2 cards are separate Pokemon and if you cast both they join into the oversized third one.
