      Think they’ve intentionally steered away from any realistic mushroom clouds given cultural sensitivities. 76 drew some ire with players using nukes as fun loot events, and wizards won’t put guns in their cowboy set or cops in their mob set so I think they’re playing these things safe.

      @user-pq8on8bx9g to some of those petulant children the lore was good though, people cant tell other people what they like or dislike thats a big yikes. For some UB made the game better and I am happy for those people, for some it introduced them to the game and I am happy to welcome new faces. But for some (me included) it made the game worse and for some it was the final nail in the coffin which is sad. I personally don't buy or play with UB cards, I don't like it when I see them on the battlefield but if my opponent is happy I'll manage. But If UB takes over thats probably the point I will also stop playing magic.

    I think saying "I never finished game X" and then following that statement with "this art gives more depth and character to this person than game X did" is a pretty bad take. I'll admit that Fallout 4 isnt the best in the series, but Cait is one of the best written characters in the whole game, and saying a picture of her doing the job she did because it was all she felt ahe could be good at when the PC meets her is better than the story she tells across her journey of recovery is you speaking on something you have not experienced.

    As a massive Fallout fan, I thought I'd mention some of your points.
    Centurion of the Marked technically isn't a proper ghoul. He's a Marked Man. Whilst still iradiated, they went through a different process and aren't ghouls in the traditional sense. The amount of radiation that they're exposed to would almost certainly kill a normal ghoul. They have no skin because the winds of The Divide is constantly ripping and flaying it all off, whereas regular ghouls it just sort of rots and sometimes falls off for example. Zombie as a creature type for Ghoul is a miss, though.
    Vault 21's experiment was that there would be no authority, and that all disputes were to be resolved via gambling. Mr. House, leader of the New Vegas Strip (Who should probably be Esper, not Mardu but whatever), cracked open the vault and offered a game of blackjack it's heavily implied he cheated at to win control over the vault. He kicked everyone, barring one person who he hired, out and filled the lower layers with concrete out of paranoia someone would break into it to enter the Strip without passing the toll.
    The NCR isn't a paramilitary, it's a nation.
    The art for Nuclear Fallout is just green skeletons, not ghouls.
    Other than that there's nothing to add really.

    Fun fact about nukes: The nuke in megaton degrading wouldn't matter nearly as much as the fact that it is on the ground. Nuclear bombs explode high in the air to make sure that that the energy spreads out and doesn't just become concentrated on the ground surrounding the bomb.
    Also, nukes don't really use chemicals that can easily degrade with exposure and even with uranium decaying over time it wouldn't matter much because most of it wasn't going to explode anyways since the reaction is so fast that most of the uranium/plutonium is blasted away before it can react.

    • @DaxRaider
      @DaxRaider 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      well slighty they explode in the air to BE MORE concentrated on the ground directly under the bomb.

      @@DaxRaider i might not be understanding what you're saying exactly, because it makes no sense to me. When done on ground level, the explosion becomes even more concentrated on the ground below, that's kinda the problem.

      megaton bomb would be fatman type bomb right? those use conventional explosives to achieve criticality. those explosives deteriorate and also the construction as a whole deteriorates. this would cause less compression and less acuracy in compression of fission material and lower yield. but i'm not really nuclear scientist so... 😊

    • @Bob-nc5hz
      @Bob-nc5hz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All nuclear weapons use conventional explosive to start things out. The Teller-Ulam fusion bomb construction is conventional high explosives which cause the fission of a hollow core which triggers the fusion of the fuel. The conventional explosives absolutely degrade, and in fusion bombs the fusion fuel is not inert, lithium deuteride reacts violently with water, producing hydrogen and lithium hydroxide which is a strong base and highly caustic, so the integrity of the cowling is an issue long term.

    • @m1gr3nA
      @m1gr3nA 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Bob-nc5hz we are talking fission bomb not fusion bomb in case of megaton though, right?
      with good neutron reflector and/or sufficiently enriched material it is possible to reach criticality without conventional explosives but not really in ways that are useful in weaponry so megaton is not this case.
      anyway i know only the basics of the designs so i wonder what would be the result of deteriorated cumulative charges in megaton-design bomb. small explosion and a lot of fission product and fission material spread in the environment instead of actual nuclear blast? something like what we got in chernobyl?

      @@PleasantKenobi Thanks for clarifying. Yes it's definitely not consistent. I agree it isn't particularly thematically coherent either. If you think about the creatures that Megaton's Fate can take out, things with a toughness of 8, those are usually huge titans (like Liberty Prime!) or behemoths with a fat ass. So it makes sense for a single nuke to do 8 damage, and Blasphemous act (actual nuclear war and perpetual wasteland, combined with the moral blasphemy you mentioned in the vid) to do 13.
    Even mechanically, red boardwipes are usually 3-4 damage for 3-4 mana, so getting 8 damage for 6, spitting some rads in other players' faces, and having the choice of instead ramping yourself towards Revel in Riches or Hellkite Tyrant is pretty good, imo.

    In defense of Veronicas art and your point of it not matching her. When you meet her at the 188 trading post. She is standing in front of a bar run by 2 people from Primm. To use the reference picture you used for in game as a base. The bar in question is behind the player character in game, so she can look over your shoulder and see the bar in question. Though to argue in your favor for your base point. The bar in question looks nothing like the art on the card, but Ill chop that up to New Vegas engine looking like Iraq in 2004.

    While I agree with you on the zombie vs ghoul thing, you don't want to lock the cards into only being viable in that set. There are no Ghoul creature types in magic.
    It's the same reason you end up with Halflings in the Lord of the Rings set instead of Hobbit. Hobbits do not exist outside of Middle Earth.
    So Wizards would either have to license the term in perpetuity to expand on the creature type, or you'd have to accept that those creatures would become the next Brushwagg.

    I always like the dynamic of throwing an Armageddon or ravages of war into a play group. Mana rocks start to become a more viable source of mana acceleration and it help mitigates the excessive prevalence of green based decks that naturally ramp harder and face little threat from being board wiped as opposed to the mana rocks which always get caught up in a pernicious deed or farewell effect. Lets be honest we all know there are a significant number of busted non basics lands that are hilariously overpowered and largely impossible to remove. Field of the dead, Valakut, mount doom, Gaia cradle, cabal coffers, bazaar of baghdad etc. If in a fallout crossover we didn't get a destroy all lands effect that would have been a massive flavor fail.

    The art for blasphemous act could have depicted the view of megaton's nuking from tenpenny tower.
    Of course that imagery/scenario was used for another card but alas, it is arguably the most blatantly, one-sidedly heinous deed the players can have agency over in fallout and the game makes you revel in it.
    For better or worse.

    Testing out a thrown-together Liberty Prime deck, it actually has a pretty solid chance of swinging every turn since you're building energy and/or tokens before it drops, and don't forget that since it has vigilance, you can swing and then just before your turn, tap it for the energy. Not to mention the new plasma caster that nets two energy when equipped creature attacks so it pays for itself.

    The number of people who played Fallout 1 and 2 are probably pretty high since those two and Tactics have been sold in a bundle together on steam were at times each game was under 1 dollar. That being said I believe a lot of Tactics mixed reviews were from it being unplayable on a lot of PCs, the steam version may have fixed it since then.

    So wanted to clarify re: Planet of the Apes. The world isn't frozen in the 1950s. The bombs dropped in October 2077, and what we're seeing in the game as the aesthetic of the pre war period is a retro style, and the history of the world doesn't actually diverge from ours until around the 1960s where in their world, they didn't make some of the energy saving advancements we did, and so they ran out of fossil fuels well before we're set to.
    Short story, Planet of the Apes could have easily existed in both timelines.
