Can we get a video on Bryce Harper Rookie Cards. I still don't understand them. Plus he is very much a potential Hall of Famer and I feel like his cards are confusing and underpriced after seeing Julio cards were selling for 5 digits.
Julio Rodriguez is the one of the biggest crashes I've ever seen. Topps hyped him so much in commercials you'd think he was the next Ken Griffey Jr. Hope he turns it around but at this current rate we're looking at the next flash-in-the-pan phenoms.
Good, I'm waiting for a chance to buy the Julio/Ichiro update SSP for a good price. As of now, it's going for $600 raw. There's no way in hell I"m paying anywhere near that for a raw one.
Julio is interesting. People have been stating he's a slow starter for months but as you point out, it's July already. So, something's gotta change. That said, I look at Bryce Harper's early career, notably his age 23 season, and am reminded progression of young players is not linear. Still a (cautiously optimistic) buyer.
Overkill on stats for Julio Rodriguez. Baseball needs to just get back to basic stats. Players today are more over toned with muscle, hence injuries. Not like the old days when the great hitters hardly ever got hurt or pitchers.
I love these types of videos. Thanks for the info! I think JRod is the most likely to recover value this year of the 3. Especially if he can go off in the playoffs.
Of the three, Carroll is the one to be most concerned about because of that injury and because he signed A LOT of autographs for 2023 products. Acuna has the positive of lower print runs in the late 2010s, and Julio's insane start to his career wasn't fully sustainable. A strong September for Julio and postseason performances will make the hobby go bananas once again.
I agree that Carroll is the most concerning. Major shoulder injuries that zap power can be career killing. It is also unfortunate his defense isn't elite with the speed he has. I hope that it heals up and that he is able to be himself again!
how I see it -- Bad maybe if you're trying to unload JROD cards. It's good for me tho, cause I love him and believe in him and want to collect him cause I see him every day. so I don't really mind that his cards get getting more affordable atm lol
100% agree here 😁 been picking up some great cards. That and Cal who has always been cheaper because of his age. That last grand slam raised his prices a tiny bit, but introduced a lot of cool new cards to the market because of people trying to sell off their cards during a short hype period.
@@scottiebcards2354 First off, just want to say, love the videos. Very insightful. I feel that JRod is going to warm up more after the ASG, and hopefully he can carry it into the fall. Honestly I would rather have him hot in the second half as it increases the chance of the Mariners going into the postseason.
Julio Rodriguez is like that one co worker who is always late does nothing for 5 hours takes extra time for lunch then busts his ass for the last 2 hours and somehow manages to get the job done!
Once these kids see the multi million dollar contracts, they lose their hunger. They don't care if they perform or not. Plus, I think Julio has p***y on the brain with his new gf. But then again, what 23 year old doesn't??
That's actually me. And is considered(in my professional opinion) quite the compliment and appreciated the fact that our efforts and jobs are recognized. So ThaNks for noticing the job itself that's our goal and it gets ✅
HEY, how did you manage to get my work ethic in here?? 🤣 Actually it's because I've been at the same position for 20 years, and everything is streamlined as streamlining can be. I literally have enough stuff to do for one day, and can goof off the rest of the week if I wanted. 🤣But I choose to take my time, so It takes me all week. Dangit, Dagwood!
Only way he reaches his full potential is eventually finding a way out of Seattle and heading to a legit team. Haven’t been many special enough to shine in Seattle throughout the team’s history for it to be worth Seattle locking them up for a while, and those rare special players who have bailed for legit teams as soon as they could. I think Julio is the type of hitter who would benefit greatly from having some lineup protection being in a legit lineup.
Baseball is a game of constant adjustments. Hitters find success, pitchers change their patterns. Back and forth it goes. Also hitting is difficult (30% success rate is elite).
some guy wrote a story that Skubal was the sleeper cy young in spring training - i bought over 100 of his auto rookie cards at $1 each - that was my gamble that paid off this year. lol - have lots that didn't but glad I have one this year that worked out.
Same ol same ol with modern card collecting…unreasonable hype when someone comes out of the gates hot, then feigned confusion when that person inevitably comes back down to earth Even worse in football…don’t even have to start your career well, card prices are dictated by where you were drafted.
Need a video in Michael Harris Jr. As a Braves fan, I know he’s hurt, but waiting for him to step his game up big time. With Acuna out, this is his time
I think carroll has a similar injury to the one bellinger had a few years back. It took him 2 full seasons before he started coming back around. Same for carroll hopefully. Possible buy window.
Great hitters don't take over 1/2 a season to 'get it going' year after year. Julio just might be this guy. He could probably use a psychologist more than another hitting coach at this point. Best analogy was from @g311music below.
& on 7-6-24 Julio Rodriguez was taken out the lineup before his 1st AB of the game wit a Quad injury 🤦sucks i was one who purchased a few of his rookie cards to flip that im probably gonna just sit on & hope he turns it around eventually
I'm still holding out hope for Julio. He got so hot down the stretch last year. He's so young too. But he's never going to have those monster seasons if he keeps starting like this. Carroll is a shocker but the injury makes sense. He did tail off last year. But if the shoulder is a recurring thing that's a big problem. He's a small guy too so the power might not come easy. I enjoy speculating on young players. Much more interesting than autographs and chase cards/variations. But yes, when you think about it how many of these guys are going to the HOF? Just look at the recent players we were going crazy for like Vladi, Tatis Jr., Bichette, and now Acuna. It's still early for them. I'm sure a lot of us were off the Aaron Judge bandwagon. But still.
Simple. Everyone is about the newest and greatest. Everyone falls off after the rookie year (not latest and greatest) combined with anything less than an MVP year let alone a decline in production.
I agree... Buying young guys in any sport is a recipe to lose money, but people are in it for that 1-5% of the time where it pays off. Thanks for watching!
Julio Rodriguez, Jordan Walker, Nolan Gorman, Nolan Jones, Corbin Carroll. All got contracts, all struggling. 2 of them got bounced to the minors. Not to speak of the mess that is pitchers.
