From a vintage VHS recording, a little known programme called the Afternoon Club, hosted by Una Stubbs. Features guest Tom Baker who was appearing in Canterbury at the time.
"The certainty now that most people will live at least to Friday, I think, makes life slightly tedious for most people." Tom, the eternally quotable. . .
Tom is around the same age as my grandmother would have been and talks about the blitz in such a similar way. She loved it because she didn’t have to go to school :)
I loved in the region at the time and loved Afternoon Club..I was a member of the viewers club. Nice to briefly see continuity announcer, Malcom Browne too.
Exactly. Someone on TH-cam uploaded Scrooge (1951) that was recorded on a VHS cassette. The experience was so authentic and it took me back to those heady days of the mid-'80s when I was recording my favorite programs left and right. I still regard my Fisher Studio Standard 4 Head Stereo VCR as my favorite toy.
I love Una’s voice. She’s so relaxing to listen to

"I spent three years here once, waiting for a train."

Posher in real life than as the doctor. Two lovely voices, Una and him.
"...he killed himself quite by accident, apparently he was furious.. but it was too late." - Tom Baker
Absolute classic Tom humour!🤣🤣🤣👏👏
Aunt Sally vs the Fourth Doctor!
I was hoping she'd bring up the connection
Una Stubbs has such a lovely soft voice, reminds me of my ex strangely, she was a lovely person too

Tom couldn't help being stereotyped as the Doctor cause as he said he just was himself when he was in the role... He IS the Doctor!
What a charming man and love the bit where’s he’s doing his autograph I wonder how much they’re going for now lol 😂

@@shaneluke346 Yes Kid Jensen has Parkinson but is still active , recently working on a six part series on Jazz .

Wearing David Tennant's costume several decades early :)
Is that Kid Jensen, the guy who did Swap Shop and some ToTP?
yes, although Noel Edmonds did Swap Shop. David 'Kid' Jensen did Capital Radio top 40 in the 80s and ToTP sometimes as you point out.
