    I had an "Aha!" moment at about 3:35. Thanks! I've struggled with understanding all of the focus settings for shooting video and associated bla bla from different TH-cam videos, so I'm happy to have seen this in action. I find it really helpful to hear what you used and why.

      Thomas Egli, that’s awesome to hear! So glad that it was helpful. I like to try to give good examples instead of just talk about stuff so I’m glad that it’s making sense.

    This is the bane of even the best AF tech available today. As you said, manual focus is the solution, but also impossible if you're the videographer and the subject simultaneously, which many of us are.

    Modern cameras coming out with auto focus and touchscreen is so helpful fr solo creators like us. Which camera were u using fr the short film?

    • @CamberFilmSchool
      @CamberFilmSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely! I wouldn't have been able to make that short film nearly as quickly as I did while working with kids if it weren't for that Autofocus. Thanks for watching and always supporting the channel Rivu!

      Hari Krishnan, probably not. There’s a lot more detail retained in photos because there is less compression of the data than with videos.

    what setting would you use on the auto focus if leaving the camera on a group 3-4 people at dinner or podcast? sony zv-e10 16mm 2.8 lens. thanks

    • @CamberFilmSchool
      @CamberFilmSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d make sure that you have plenty of good lighting and use a higher aperture so more is in focus (like f/5.6-8.0) and then just set manual focus so it’s not trying to jump around.

      @@CamberFilmSchool hi thanks for your reply.
      I am using a sony-a7iii and using AF-c with a single-spot. When shooting photos I have no problem but when shooting a video it does not work.
      Do you think I need to have my camera fixed?

    • @CamberFilmSchool
      @CamberFilmSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That works fine for pictures because you can make sure it focuses on what you want. But it’s only going to focus on that one spot when you’re recording videos. For video, I use AF-C with focus area set to wide and “face/eye Prty in AF” turned on in most cases. I also have touch operation turned on in order to be able to touch focus.

    • @ElBoyoElectronico
      @ElBoyoElectronico 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CamberFilmSchool I also have those setting turned on, but since I am playing the drums while filming myself, the camera has a harder time keeping me in focus than on the M50. Also I do a lot of talking head stuff. What are your focus settings for your talking head parts? I would really like to know.
