Or may be they had the main cast set already for their movie and for this scene they actually needed "bad singers " but cast capable people as cameo instead of choosing some bad ones coz even a small appearance in a movie can sometimes give these ppl a lil limelight than never being anywr at all. So why give that chance to the worst ones that auditioned.
The reason why i feel so is if u read the comment section, these ppl are all being appreciated. Nobody is trolling them. So its a good thing.

Pitch Perfect has been one of my favorites that loved so much and seeing all collage kids performing together and Anna Kendrick doing the cups became so amazing and terrific

And the funniest part is that the guy who plays Jesse also voices Branch in the Trolls TV spin off cartoon. This is why whenever I see Becca and Jesse together I can only think about Poppy and Branch
This reminds me of when I was in high school 11th grade on the first day of school in one of my classes we was asked if any of us had a skill or a talent? When it was my turn to share my skill or talent I said that I can sing and do the cup part of Cups by Anna Kendrick from Pitch Perfect. I even proved it to the whole class by standing at the front of the classroom and I did it with an actual cup. Everyone was really impressed that I can actually do that. True story.

It's probably 'cause the trebles thought that he was weird when they first met on campus (early into the movie). 😔 They judged him too quickly based on personality.
Even if we ourselves couldn't tell that Benji was talented, it's clearly written on Aubrey's face at 2:27 that they could tell he was. Seniors should be able to recognize star quality.
