@Tut Pook not enough "earnings" i mean. I can't find the article now but I've read that for the studio, Spy did so-so. But honestly all I ever see online when Spy is mentioned is how it doesn't have a sequel yet. Hope it's not too late for them to make one.
I adore this movie SO MUCH! whenever I need a "pick me up" this movie is on, it's absolutely hilarious and underrated! One of the reasons that I love is that Melissa McCarthy is a spy and you just don't see the main characters look like her with her body type as spies and she KILLS IT! I love this movie so much
Well there's a reason for that, because people with her body type are not allowed/unfit for espionage, since you basically need to be in top physical condition. I almost didn't watch the Movie BECAUSE of her being in the lead role, just for the fact that her entire list of films consisted of her playing the "haha i'm fat and that's funny." stereotype and that gets annoying as hell. still gave the Movie a try and it certainly worked because for once she played a role where she is not reduced to her weight, even if it is a rather uncanny field of work as a Spy. But even that gets explained in the movie with "she's basically everything we have left." which then gets even better with her actually being competend. I ended up liking the film and her in her Role. But i have to admit, for me Jason Statham stole the show. The walking Parody of all the spies from the old school spie movies (and even some of his own films) was just perfect comedic relief and casting him in that Role, who previously was only known for intense action Movies with no humor, was another master stroke of subverted expectations. They both got the Roles the other one usually plays and it worked brilliantly.
