      @Jonathan McCully I have to agree, especially the 2007 models. They were definitely not nearly as reliable as previous ES's. I feel like around 2009 is when they cleared up most of the drivability issues at least, they definitely didn't fix the dash melting problem until 2013. My 2008 has 180k, it has been a fantastic car. Keep up on maintenance and it'll outrun any domestic or German vehicles (at least in cost of long-term ownership). Original engine and transmission, still purrs!

      @MrDare2bdifferent 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@15aac When I talk about Outlast I'm referring to thier engines. So no, I'm not only referring to the ones built in the 60's, I used that as an example of what is. I'm not saying you can't get alot of life out of a Toyota engine because clearly you can, but compared to a Volvo? No! Volvo's were built to last in that aspect. Besides Volvo as a company has been producing cars way before Toyota was even thought of. This is why I originally made a comment to a guy saying that Lexus are built like tanks, never in my life have I ever heard of a Toyota being built like a tank.. Reason why Volvo's are known to be called tanks is because how they can handle various types of terrain & most importantly, 9 out of 10 if you get into horrible accident, you'll walk away with your life. That's why they have that reputation of being called built like a tank. Not many car companies besides Volvo & Mercedes are known to be called ( built like tanks) Toyota has ever been known for that. And here comes everyone out of the blue talking about reliability when that was not my original comment to begin with. Some people use words so usely & they don't even apply it to what their talking about. And if we are going to talk about Lexus outlasting Volvo, let's see who would walk away with their life if he/she was in a horrific accident, the person in the Lexus or the person in the Volvo. Well there is a no brainier for you.

    My wife has had 4 ES 350's in the past. We drive them until they reach about 100 to 120000 miles. Bullet proof vehicles. Trouble free. Ride like new even after 100000 miles! Right now her 2019 ES 350 has 50k on the odo. just breaking in! Best car on the road. I have owned a BMW 740 L, this car after 40000 miles turned into a money pit. Every time the check engine light came on it was a 1800.00 dollar repair at the dealership. First was fluid leak sensor, 1800.00, next was fuel leak sensor 1800.00, brake job complete 3100.00, I dumped that pos asap. New battery 530.00. I am not poor or rich but I just do not like being screwed!

    A little about Toyota quality:
    I live in Bangkok and my brother in law runs a small taxi business with eleven cars. All of them Toyota Corolla Altis. They're all converted to LPG
    In Bangkok the city allows all cabs to be used maximum 9 years. Each cab runs about 200000 km per year. So when it's time for retirement of the car the odometer shows around 1800000 km. (approx 1,125,000 miles) They never swap engines or transmission, just ordinary service. Oil and filter is changed every 10000 km.
    Normally there are no problems with these cars. Everything is working. The traffic is terrible in Bangkok and it's very hot and humid
    After retirement many cabs are used as a private car and continues to work.
    So, yes the quality is amazing.

    Hi
    Did you notice transmission lurch or lag on this car? It is very common issue with this car. Example: when you are approaching red street light at like 45 mph approx. and just when you are slowing down, the light turns green. This car doesn't know how or what proper gear to be in and struggles and then lurches forward.

That and some of the trim on top of the rear panoramic roof window is coming off. However it does not leak( been a year) and could be easily fixed with a little silicone or flex seal.

    Have to admit Lexus are quality cars but mileage is not everything , many London Black Cabs have 1'500'000 over one and a half million miles on their clocks with original engines , the interiors are a little worn with so many passengers carried , but it goes to show even cars that cost a modest amount can if maintained properly do mega miles . Many Black cabs in London do easily 100'000 miles a year as they are usually run 24/7 owned by cab driving familys that take the car day and swap to a new driver for night time . We are talking proper Hackney black cabs that have to pass the knowledge to get a licence not these ubers and private hires that rely on their sat navs .

    I have a 2005 Lexus ES 330. Bought it 4 years ago with low miles. I know a guy that gives me grief about it being a glorified Camry. That does not bother me. I have a '95 Camry that I use as a daily driver. Having the ES based on a reliable platform is the main reason I bought it. I would never touch a Cadillac or Lincoln. The domestics have a bad habit of taking unreliable designs and sticking luxury badges on them.

    My mechanic argues the turn of the century Camry is probably the most reliable car ever built. It was boring and basic, but bulletproof. As for Suv, he says the Highlander and Honda Pilot are both unparalleled in longevity and build quality, but you want to stay in the mid 2000s (03-06) I believe. The above mentioned cars are serviced at his garage and he has several customers with close to over 500k miles with basic wear and tear issues. Obviously he is just one mechanic, but I have heard the sentiment echoed.
