I drive 45,000 miles a year. I'm on my 7th used Lexus LS 430,460. I buy them used with around a 100,000 to 125,000 miles on them and run them to 250,000 then I start looking for the next one. I pay around 15,000 for them and sell them for around 8,000 when I'm done with them. Best luxury used car buy ever!!!! Usually do very little to the maintenance wise beyond oil, breaks and tires. Sometimes I do the rear shocks myself. I HIGHLY recommend picking one up.

Bought it used a year ago and it’s the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Regular maintenance plus changed the water pump when I changed the timing belt and oil seals to be safe while I was in there. Only problem was the gas cap failed but a new OEM Toyota/Lexus one off eBay was about $12. I’m happy.

But there are no mechanic nor any cosmetic problem and it drives really well. I will have those issues fixed and it will be in top shape. And the more I drive it, the more I like the handling, the equipment, the comfort, the soundproofing and the sound system. Lexus really did a good job.

I like how the AMSOIL sticker is on top of the engine cover! Also, I like full logic tape decks for listening to music. Just wished it was reliable on the Toyota and Lexus vehicles. GM's last cassette tape deck doesn't use belt drives, which is reliable, and permanently encoded Dolby Noise Reduction or Dolby B NR.

Hi Scatty, I have a 2012 Toyota Sienna AWD, I love the van, the only problem I have is that the rear wheel tires we're out the inside of the tire very fast, even though I rotate them every 6 months, and this car uses run-flat tires which are very expensive to replace, even though I have been taking it to Toyota to get it aligned still has that problem, do you have any suggestions of what to do.

Hey Scotty, can you do a video on replacing power steering pump lines? I had a leak on my SC430 that could've ended my alternator. The replacement lines were 1200$ at dealership and they only offered the entire power steering line assembly, no individual sections. I ended up removing the bad section and replaced with JSAE line using ear clamps to reassemble, instead of normal spring clamps. Saved me $2k with only about 3 hours of work for an amateur.

Or should I just take it in? Also, is there such a thing as a conversion kit to switch from a belt to a chain for it? maybe just change out the pullies to accept a chain, just curious.

Being the masochist mechanic I am, I finally decided to do valve cover gaskets, plug tube gaskets, and spark plugs on my mom's 2002 Toyota Sienna. Yes, a 1MZ V6 crammed in a tiny engine bay, tucked against the firewall at a slant angle! Had to take the intake off, but left the throttle body on because I do not want to remove coolant lines. Got both valve covers off exposing the cams. I made this 7 hour job worthwhile and used silicone gaskets instead of rubber, sucked the oil out of a few spark plug tubes with a mighty vac before replacing the plugs, and cleaned all the oil that leaked from the back valve cover with LOTS of brake clean after getting everything back together. Saved my mom at least $1000. You will never find a better 2002 Sienna! She uses it to keep miles off her Grand Cherokee Hemi.

For all of you who say “if new cars are so bad why isn’t anyone working on them” that’s what a new car is, they just aren’t made to be fixed like they used to be, so when those glory miles/km go by and things do break, it’s gonna break sooner, it’s going to cost much more to fix, and depending on the company, you may need to get it fixed at the dealership and won’t be able to do it yourself with all of the tech in cars now. I personally think new cars for the most part look so cheap compared to older cars

My brake vibrates within 2-3 sec when I step on the gas whether hard or soft. I can feel the brake pedal vibrates when i let it slowly roll forward and hear the sound as well. Only vibrates for a split second and doesn't vibrates again until I start the car again. What is wrong with it?
