    Everyone raves about Aberfoyle but for me the Cairngorms is head and shoulders above. So many wonderful places to ride, wild life to see and brilliant cafes. Regardless of the seasons or weather it’s is alway beautiful. I consider it my second home and when I’m not there it’s where I want to be.

    Been thinking about doing this route at Easter. Really need to pull a finger out and book some trains I guess. Thanks for the video.

    • @reizkultur
      @reizkultur  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Easter would be ideal. If you struggle for bike spaces on the Inverness line, an alternative would be to take the Ember bus to Perth/Dundee, which takes bikes, and cycle in from there - either connecting at Blair Atholl or even better, at Enochdhu.

    • @firsthippy
      @firsthippy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers for the tip. We were thinking, to make it easier with trains, to get to Aviemore on the train and then hire bikes there, rather than bring them from London. It's an added expense but means less stress getting on trains and my partner gets to maybe try out an MTB rather than use her gravel bike, plus my new gravel bike probably still won't be ready by then :S Plus it's only a short trip so I'd be less worried about having a perfect bike fit and the like. "Run what ya brung" vibes. @@reizkultur

      @@firsthippy Great idea, there are two good providers there, which hire gravel bikes & MTBs!

    Absolutely stunning scenery - and bike! Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to get back to Scotland again (family on Mull). Cheers from 🇨🇦 😊

    • @reizkultur
      @reizkultur  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahhh, that is amazing to hear. And 🇨🇦 is hopefully where I'll make it this year, as my partner is from Quebec, and I have just started riding a bike from there too. Mull is a great island too, I mapped a route there last year, and loved the rugged scenery. Both routes will feature in the upcoming Bikepacking Scotland book, looking forward to publish that in May.

      Hi Dougal, that is great to hear, and enjoy the route once you make it there. I loved the passion of the people I met, and how warmly they welcomed everyone to their home, it was nice to bring that across in the film. And I look forward to do more riding/mapping in the Southern Cairngorms too.

    I've been doing many of those routes, many times by foot and by mountain bikes over the past 27 years. Even though i live in Wales, the Cairngorms have been my go to hiking/biking break twice yearly without fail. I hope i have a few more years in me yet, biking these wonderful trails in this most magical part of the UK. Wonderful video Markus. 👍😍

    I am looking to visit coming in from Inverness in September after I do the Hebridean Way. I fancy cycling a route from Inverness through the Cairnagorms and to south towards Oban, I will be on a touring bike, any tips for a route just looking to do 40 steady miles a day and camping

    • @davidrowe8747
      @davidrowe8747 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably doesn't have the level of detail you need, but take a sneak peek at Saddle Skedaddle's Caledonia Way holiday. Runs from Campbelltown through Oban to Inverness (so, opposite direction to what you are asking for). They have a brief day by day description also, and the Inverness/Oban section is a 3-day route (34, 34 and 52 miles). Good starting point to start planning your own trip, maybe.
