YES, OMG THIS!! I'm bawling my eyes out watching you guys make this seismic shift. We're an Aussie couple in our 50's planning our 7 month Europe trip and your video and message resonate so strongly with us. At 100 km/day we can "enjoy more places" but at 50 km/day we can "enjoy places more". We've watched hundreds of bikepacking videos as part of our planning. Yours will stay with me more than anything else I've seen. Thank you both.
Thank you so much! I really love that, enjoy more places or enjoy places more. I definitely resonate more with the latter. Good luck with all the prep for your trip. 7 months of riding will be truly amazing! Glad our videos can inspire you along the way 🚲
I'm glad I'm not the only one with tears rolling down my face... Hey, it's all a learning curve isn't it. Big thanks to you both, and the guy for writing the comment. Currently planning a Euro tour, with two dogs! Good luck to all x
No matter how much you ever see and experience you never even scratch the surface. I discovered years ago that the world is like an onion. You get to know an area intimately and eventually learn there is even MORE under the surface. Last year I ventured a dozen miles north of Oban with my dog and little caravan. Hundreds of miles from home. An area I last visited nearly 60 years ago. We walked for miles and revisited places from all that time ago. Many changes, incredible beauty, amazing food. My rescue dog ran, swam, sniffed, scoffed and snored the nights away. Bliss.
My 1st wife bagged Munros with me which took us all over the Highlands. When she passed, I was done chasing summits. There is far more to mountains than their summits. Going up mountains is only part of being among them. This epiphany feels rather like yours: freeing. In the end, we just want our souls to be set free. Ride free.
I couldn't agree with you more! Bikes are the adventure enablers. We're realising more and more we much prefer to slow down and take in a landscape. Thanks!
Yet again another well filmed edited and narrated trip this was and thoroughly enjoyed seeing you guys make some sensible decisions along the way to make sure that you enjoyed the whole trip. I really look forward to these videos they’re so relaxing and enjoyable so keep them coming!!!!
Thank you so much! It is such a beautiful area we really wanted to do it justice. And enjoy our time there rather than tearing through and not taking it all in. Thank you for all the encouragement! Reading this really inspire us.
Beautifully filmed and narrated as ever. So lovely to be able to share your journey and I agree entirely with your changing philosophy. Take time to enjoy the World around us 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you sarah and josh. All your films are goid but i think this latest is your best! The way you speak the story to match the film josh is truly 1st class work. Then you add the stunning scenery and Sarah's infectious smile and its win win for ys viewers. I am spending a lot of time at my uncles farm halfway between Penrith and Carlisle so you never know i may bump into some youtube treasure's on the trail one day. Keep up the fantastic work you two. All the vest jay.
Thank you so much! We are sometimes unsure whether the video is just right and spend so much time tweaking things so reading this just fills us with isnpirstion. Thank you! Ah that is near our neck of the woods. Yes keep and eye out and be sure to say hi 👋 we're often found muddy and sweaty somewhere in the northern Fells.
I have to be honest, I had seen this video in my suggested for a while but hadn't clicked simply because I don't bike pack. How narrow minded of me. I laughed, considered and even shed a tear. Your storytelling is second to none. I feel inspired to create, to live life slowly and beautifully. Now to go back and watch all the videos I have missed, you've certainly found a loyal new subscriber in me. The Cairngorms is one of my favourite places in the whole of Europe. The atmosphere is truly magical.
Wow thank you so much 😁 this was truly inspiring to read because honestly we hope to make videos that people enjoy watching and they connect with. Not just bikepackers as we focus a lot more on nature. Really glad you liked it, thank you!
A fantastic video from Josh & Sarah Rides. You had your epiphany at 12mins 49secs and I listened to your wonderful words ... We stood in the rain feeling very torn, deliberating what to do ... It was the landscape that made us happy, the meetings along the trail and the smaller details you only notice when you slow down. The plan is to go slow. These places are too beautiful to rush. In this beautiful world filled with intricacies and details You experience so much more of it if you slow down. Glen Feshie is going through a process of rewilding. I think both of you are going through your own rewilding. I look forward to what comes next...'Iongantach'.
I really like this, that we're going through our own process of rewilding. Amazing to see the new growth around the Feshie. And that more and more species are coming back to the area. Thank you so much for the support 😁
Josh & Sarah, that was absolutely fantastic. Very well made. “The best trips are the ones that make you happiest!” Indeed. Good choice to turn back at that point, tough going ahead. A perfect end to your trip north. Come back soon and explore more! D&L 😊
Fantastic video.....again. You captured the feel of your surroundings superbly and I was completely drawn into your adventure. Making the Scottish Highlands enthralling at this time of year is a unique talent. It's also great to see 2 dedicated cyclists realise that a small area explored slowly can be rewarding ...in my area, every cyclist seems to be hellbent on knocking huge distances out in the shortest time on every trip without any concern to their environment, wildlife or other road users. You are superb ambassadors for responsible cyclists and should be acknowledged by the wider cycling audience. Kind regards and best wishes
Thank you so much. It is a really unique place, so we really wanted to do it justice capturing the whole landscape. I completely agree there is so much more joy and fulfilment in really taking in your surroundings rather than just tearing through. I think we've settled that going slow, taking in the landscape and detours is more our type of riding.
I enjoyed watching your trip and cycle adventure. The Cairngorms and the Highlands are so splendid and enchanting. It changes you spending time and having adventures there. Truly a magical place.
Another wonderful journey beautifully told. Sarah's smile lights up a room and keeps the wife and i grinning like loons. Keep it up and remember its always better to do smiles per mile than miles per smile ❤😊
Really enjoyed this video, what an amazing landscape and beautiful views! Very wise decision to go slow. 👍 You wouldn't want to miss out on those amazing views.
Thanks, really glad you liked the video! And yes I completely agree, when in such a beautiful place it's better to take things slow to really soak it all in!
A superb video...enjoyed the story of the adventure...my favourite part of the Aviemore area is where you stopped to take in the views on the final morning..your video work is always top quality with excellent narration....very best wishes to you both
I can’t describe it but watching your channel just makes me forget about every little stress going on in life. Suddenly I don’t care about anything materialistic or any superficial goals. I feel like this is how we are meant to live life, seeing beauty in the smallest things. Not worrying about status, career or money. Just taking it one day at a time. It’s safe to say this channel has quickly become a comfort channel for me. Thank you guys for all effort you put into your videos - doesn’t go unnoticed ☺️🤍
Thank you so much for the support! We really try to capture the landscapes we're in and glad that comes through. Really happy to hear it is a comfort to unwind to 😁 sometimes we question things but reading this has filled us with inspiration, so thank you for that!
Great that you decided to slow down. Also great to see how you enjoy the landscape, each others company and the (quiet cold) weather. A motivation for me to slow down, too. Thumbs up!
Loved this video, thanks. There are so many people going all out to conquer/complete everything and all they do is miss what is right in front of their eyes on the way. Slow down, enjoy the process and have fun! Thanks
Very much enjoyed sharing your first adventure into the Cairngorms. You are so right that adventuring through beautiful places is so much more about being/experiencing rather than conquering/achieving. And, it leaves a reason to return. Haste ye back, the Cairngorms are calling!
Hi Sarah and Josh, we've watched loads of your videos and love them! I hadn't realised until now that we were not subscribed, but we are now :) (I usually just type in your names). What a brilliant film, you are so adventurous (and brave!). Such a beautiful landscape, it takes your breath away, literally. Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip to the Cairngorms, so glad you made it and those wonderful bothys were awesome. Will look forward to your next ones 🥰 Lynn & Richard
Thanks so much and really glad you liked the videos. It's such a beautiful place so we really wanted to do it justice by capturing it just right 🌲 really glad you found us!
I’ve recently started to watch your videos. I have enjoyed them all, very natural and close to what is really important in life! Living in Scotland, I/we have these natural options in abundance! Thank you so much. Scotland is a truly beautiful country and home to some of the friendliest people too. We are looking for reccomendations for a trip at the end of January so will check our Harris and Lewis. We spent time on Arran and Mull in the summer which were both stunning. Thank you so much for the support!
🚴♀🌟 What a captivating cycling adventure! It's a privilege to add such a high-quality video to our collection. Hats off to you for the amazing content! 🥳
amazing adventure! but even more impressive how you two are growing both as individuals and as a couple! life and experiences change and it's just natural that after a certain amount of fulfilling a certain kind of dream, it shapes us makes us kind of evolve. in this particular case i seriously believe that your shift to a slower pace is a completely normal progression - not regretting the more taxing, exhilarating style but outgrowing it as you go and mature, finding and refining your focus. may you go on many more adventures (and share them with us too pls 😊) ❤
Loved this as we were in the same area in September with our bikes. We completed the Outer Loop in 2017 but abandoned the idea of the inner loop (which I think was your plan) given how tough the outer loop was (we were camping) Following your narration I was jumping up and down knowing it was Ryvoan you were headed to, we past it on an exquisite loop ride and came out at the turquoise lake in September. We had to walk back up the next day for a swim. I also know the area you live as my parents live in Penrith. We have exactly the dilemma of having to make the plan, or take time out to explore, admire the view, swim in the lake, knit on a rock. everybody emphasises distance and speed, we will join your slow is ok vibe, whilst trying to make more time for adventures. Thank you for your gentle laid back interesting commentary.
It is a beautiful place to explore especially on the bike. I think we discovered the hard way that it's a better route for dryer conditions and without a tight time schedule. It is a really cool bothy isn't it. Ah yes Penrith is near our neck of the woods. I think we're finding that our pace is slower so we can take more in. A much better way to truly experience a place🚲
Wonderfully narrated and beautifully filmed as usual! Thank you for the time invested in filming, editing etc., to allow us all to enjoy your adventure ❤
Absolutely the right approach. I live here and there’s a push to just do what you intended. You don’t need to be on top or pushing the distance to enjoy these fantastic areas
What a brilliant video i don’t think i blinked all the way through it and so glad Sarah wasn’t hurt when her bike landed on her (wonder woman) really well done both of you, the scenery wow thanks again guys.
The universe has a way of giving you what you need just when you need it if you're willing to listen to it and rewarding you when you do ✨️ you on your trip ✨️ and me leaving this film to be watched when I had space and time to do it just when I needed to hear this message ✨️ slow 🐌 is my pace and I needed reminding 👌✨️Perfect 💛 thank you ✨️
Something we can all forget too often in life I think when there's an emphasise on doing more and cramming more in. But going slow I think leads to far richer experiences🚲glad you like the video especially at the right time 😁
Hi Josh and Sarah . Just loved some of the images you took of the cairngorms . You are getting really good at taking Bothy shots in the fading light in the stars . Just beautiful. You are so right too that we try to cram everything in to a trip / holiday and often the best ones are when we take our time to just chill even if it means not seeing everything ! X
Hi guys. I really enjoyed your vlog. Very atmospheric. You made the right decision not to carry on. The ride back was lovely, the scenery was beautiful especially across the lake. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thank you! It's a tough decision to make and I think you cam never be sure you've made the right one. But I think it meant we enjoyed the trip that much more. So glad you liked the video 😁
I will never have such an opportunity to do what you guys are doing. Your videos sharing your lovely journeys are really showing me the beauty of the world out there. Keep on going guys!
Beautiful videography and a lovely story. An absolute pleasure to watch - I even felt the cold vicariously 🥶. Your enthusiasm and passion shines through, great video.
These places are too beautiful to rush, so true. You guys seem to have selected a tough route. So well done and hope you can find time to come back. A lovely film. Thanks.
So inspiring. I watched this over home made soup in my kitchen over to the East in Durham. One thing I have to know is what happens with your cats when you go away? Please keep making these videos they are wonderful xxx
Brilliant! Went to both Bothies end October. Glen Feshie so stunning and wild. Nearly as good as Scottish Borders!! Walk/cycle from Overphawhope Bothy to Dryfe Bothy.
Ah you think the borders is better? Fir riding or just general? We have a future trip planned there so soon will be able to compete for ourselves. Thanks!
Thank you very much for watching! If you'd like to see more Scottish bike adventures: th-cam.com/video/-NWZr0LIdy4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1vGqSHpiGeDzu7N2

I agree, there is so much beauty and enjoyment to be found in going slow and embracing the journey rather than just summiting. Happy exploring
Love the big, slow detour. Bikes are great, but they are tools to see the world, it's easy to miss it when the focus is on the ride. Wise decision.
I couldn't agree with you more! Bikes are the adventure enablers. We're realising more and more we much prefer to slow down and take in a landscape. Thanks!

"Too beautiful to rush" A most wonderful mantra for bikepacking. Thanks for your story.
I like to think so 🙂🚲
What a lovely couple you are, great film, well done 😊
The beauty of the bicycle is that it is slow!
I agree, one of the things I love about it and being able to choose your pace :)

Hi Josh and Sarah . Just loved some of the images you took of the cairngorms . You are getting really good at taking Bothy shots in the fading light in the stars . Just beautiful. Thank you so much, this put a real.smile on our faces! I agree, much better to slow down and take things in rather than razz through.
This is unreal guys, love this
Beautifully done in all respects 🙏
I think this could be your best video so far its pretty awesome thanks guys 😮
Wow thank you! It took a long time to bring it all together and we were unsure of some parts so this has really filled me with confidence. Thank you!
Awesome guys! Glad you had an amazing trip
What a beautiful video with wholehearted 💗reminders to slow down and enjoy the ride 🚲🏞🕯 (literally and figuratively lol). Loved it; thank you x
Thank you so much 😁 really glad you liked the video!
I will never have such an opportunity to do what you guys are doing. Your videos sharing your lovely journeys are really showing me the beauty of the world out there. Keep on going guys!
Really glad you enjoy the videos 😁 Scotland is really beautiful with so much to explore. Thank you for the support!
Thanks
Thank you so much 😁🚲
Beautiful videography and a lovely story. An absolute pleasure to watch - I even felt the cold vicariously 🥶. Your enthusiasm and passion shines through, great video.
Thank you so much! Was definitely a chilly one in parts 🥶 but thoroughly enjoyable throughout!
What an amazing ride - thanks!
These places are too beautiful to rush, so true. You guys seem to have selected a tough route. So well done and hope you can find time to come back. A lovely film. Thanks.
Couldn't agree with you more 😁 thank you so much!
Thank you for that effort to film the whole trip. You two are Wild 😊😅
So inspiring. I watched this over home made soup in my kitchen over to the East in Durham.
One thing I have to know is what happens with your cats when you go away?
Please keep making these videos they are wonderful xxx
Thanks so much, we have a lovely cat sitter who looks after them 🐈⬛
Thanks!
