- We visit Eye Kettleby Lakes luxury touring park in Leicestershire. It's an award winning adults only site, just outside of Melton Mowbray. It has two beautiful areas for touring, a clubhouse with bar, restaurant, shop & 9 fishing lakes! Here's what we found.

This is the best site in the country. We absolutely love it. The fish and chips on Wednesday night are amazing, and from a van!! The log cabins allow kids but they can’t come onto the touring areas. The clubhouse is so welcoming and with great food. There is even a caravan and car servicing firm on site feb to Oct to help if you are in trouble ( Yorkshire men). Please don’t tell anybody else!!!!

Hi K&M, We stayed there in October 2015 and really enjoyed it. They were constructing lake 8 & 9 and southern meadows area didn't exist. Everyone we know who have stayed there comment on how lovely the site is. Day one was walking and exploring Melton Mowbray, day two onwards doing our walks with a pork pie in the back pack for lunch! Stayed here on the Northern site last year and on the Southern this year, pitched on the superior pitches and were absolutely fantastic, although the drains did smell a little during the hot summer however we used a little bit of bleach to prevent this. Great restaurant, great for dogs, great walks and nice and convenient to Melton Mowbray and Rutland Water. Definitely be back again👍

We have stayed at kettlebye many times in the pods and lodges my in-laws are gold members there we absolutely love this site so friendly family run business. I’m hoping to buy a swift basecamp 2 this year so will be looking forward to another great visit soon 😃

Wednesday evening!!! Chip van comes about 6.30 pm, get a ticket from the bar. Fish and chips are amazing. Best club in the country!!! Best site, totally doggy friendly. Amazing staff and very comfortable feeling. DONT TELL ANYBODY so we can get a booking.

Here every weekend fishing also the chestnut lodge has hot tub I’ve hired out quite a few times been coming here for nearly 3 years now every weekend RELAXES your mind completely

Children are allowed in the club house /restaurant and also the lodges. Caravan site is adults only. We live in Melton Mowbray and regularly visit EKL for the restaurant and tribute nights, a little too close to take the caravan, but maybe one day😁

Once again a great review, in fact several reviews in one. We have had a few camper vans and caravans and before we decided on a new caravan/camper van we rented a motor home very similar to the one you reviewed to see if it met our needs. It was great for travelling and setting up was so easy but... It was so confined. We felt as though we had no space and living in a corridor. For the time being we will stay with the caravan and the "inconvenience" of towing

Hi Guys, talking about fully serviced pitches, I find that the position of the grey waste point can vary greatly from site to site. While we all carry EHU cables to reach most points , I doubt we all carry enough waste pipe. I think it would be good if a maximum distance was established e.g. 5 metres , before a pitch is designated " full service" either that or the side provides suitable to reach within that distance of the van. Hi both, this is as I have previously mentioned, one of our favourite sites. Too far for just a weekend for us, so we tend to go for longer in early summer. We have stayed on both areas and prefer the new pitches. As you mentioned, it does get very busy in the peak season despite the higher costs. We tried to book selected pitches for next summer back in early July, but they were already full for our dates, so as you rightly say “book early”. Great video.

What a coincidence was there last week on new southern pitch stayed there quite a few times mainly on northern weds night van turns up you get fish and chips of it and they surply plates and cuterey just noticed my car and caravan you must of been there when I was red mondeo behind you

It’s not strictly other 18 on the website it says you have to be 15 and above to fish without being supervised by an adult

How do you power you caravan in a off grid stie
Hi Reginald, When camping off grid, the heating, fridge & oven will all be using gas. The lights will take power from the onboard leisure battery. Assuming there is a solar panel fitted, this helps to replenish the battery throughout the day. All the mains sockets will obviously not work as they are 240 volts, however, this can be overcome by using an inverter. In summary, a kettle would need to be used on a gas hob & a TV would need to be 12 volts. We’ve never actually gone off grid yet, hopefully others who have, will add to this comment with their experiences 👍🏻 Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.

A very nice revue thanks, a bit far to come however from NZ. I am interested how much a night it would be though, here in NZ I haven't seen anything like it. We pay $40.00 ((20 Pounds) a night for a grass area, however we have an off season Campsaver price of $20.00 per van on power (10 pounds) which is great BUT nothing like the luxury you have there.

Hi, could you tell me about the tap on the series pitches please? What connector, if any, does it have fitted? Thanks!!!
Hi Chris, As we recall these are standard outside taps & we use a Hozelock fitting with 1/2 inch & 3/4 inch connectors (Sorry can’t recall which one we actually used at Eye Kettleby) screwed onto the tap. Please remember to remove it when leaving! Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.
