Funny story, but, cooling or heating is a straight question of energy in, energy out, to cool a caravan when the outside ambient is high takes kilowatts. We have a Truma Aventa roof mount air-conditioner for our Elddis Crusader Storm, it cost £1100 fitted, it takes 2.2kW of electricity at full power, it can hold the inside of the caravan at 18deg when it is 35deg plus outside. During the very hot south of England summer days, it is a godsend, when we travel to the south of France it is a necessity!
Hi both, great story. I noticed they were on the table last week but not sure what they were. The noise in the video may have been the grass cutter or the units, difficult to tell. It did mean I knew there were two of them coming at some point in this weeks vlog, look forward to next week.
Hi David, When we filmed last weeks video the temperature inside the caravan was almost 30 degrees 🥵 We had these plus two other standard fans working & of course the lawn mower man 😆 Probably did sound a bit noisy, we were just waiting for the hedge trimmer man to come along & next doors dogs to start barking. Hi. Have to agree that these coolers do work I bought one and was so impressed that I bough another to take with us to Cornwall last year (2019). We were lucky and enjoyed the best two weeks of the year we had them both running at once in our new Coachman 675 Laser which is brilliant, they provided a very comfortable cool caravan. I think I paid around £20 each online , great value and would highly recommend.

Very amusing these evaporation units have been around for years found them inafective especially in high humid conditions perhaps they've improved.vlog made me giggle I've done the same thing as Keith many a time blokes never learn

Mmmm given me an idea for keeping the dogs cool in the car when travelling as its got USB... Most of my bad purchases have been when I had a glass of red wine by the side of keyboard...
Morning Steve, one thing to consider is if you are going to use one of these in the car for your dogs, probably best to leave the top compartment empty (no water) & put the filter in the fridge/freezer for a while prior to travelling. As said these have been around for years but found one at an OK price why not give your thoughts - The link I clicked said GBP20 and at that price, it's another gadget at the worst. I live in Oz (usually although am English born and bred and much of adulthood based there). If it gets hot then real aircon sells for a reason as it also dries the air and it's moisture that makes you feel hot (a lot of it anyway). Real stinking hot summers day here (Sydney usually temperate enough), then temp down to say even just 25C feels more than fine (as it's dried). All that said it's amazing what just a fan does as below mad hot days it will help dry perspiration - thus heat retaining water leaves you. Now the last thing you want on those days is more water added to the air. OK if pointed right at you as some effect but step away in that area and the more moisture is making things worse. In winter water added water (humidity) can help stop dry air (some say sore eyes in a caravan with blown air but how on earth they travel in a car or don't get same effect with rads remains beyond me unless they sleep in front of the blown air pointed at their eyes? is beyond me)...........In winter cup of water judiciously placed near a heat source (e.g. rad) would probably do as much but the gadget I guess would also move more air in its advertised humidity mode (if anyone cared).........................Basically, if it's stinking hot in a humid climate air con is luxury but a fan is often enough in reality below real stinking hot humid and always worthwhile, and the rest of this stuff hangs around on gadget shelves and if they feel OK for you in a certain situation that's fine (cleaning and faff issues aside).......EDIT: I do like gadgets and enjoyed it. Also lots of COLD beer I find is great (yeah I know the science there but feels good LOL)

oh dear sorry to think you paid way over odds for it £34 in argos last year b&m selling the original Artic Air for £14.99 there is an Artic Air 2 with washable filter. replacement filers are £14. ime not impressed and makes van more humid. wash out regular cos can get a damp smell coming out. I use aroma oil in just a few drops so really its a glorified air freshener. iced water or ice is needed for any " cooling " happy caravanning

As said these have been around for years but found one at an OK price why not give your thoughts - The link I clicked said GBP20 and at that price, it's another gadget at the worst. I live in Oz (usually although am English born and bred and much of adulthood based there). If it gets hot then real aircon sells for a reason as it also dries the air and it's moisture that makes you feel hot (a lot of it anyway). Real stinking hot summers day here (Sydney usually temperate enough), then temp down to say even just 25C feels more than fine (as it's dried). All that said it's amazing what just a fan does as below mad hot days it will help dry perspiration - thus heat retaining water leaves you. Now the last thing you want on those days is more water added to the air. OK if pointed right at you as some effect but step away in that area and the more moisture is making things worse. In winter water added water (humidity) can help stop dry air (some say sore eyes in a caravan with blown air but how on earth they travel in a car or don't get same effect with rads remains beyond me unless they sleep in front of the blown air pointed at their eyes? is beyond me)...........In winter cup of water judiciously placed near a heat source (e.g. rad) would probably do as much but the gadget I guess would also move more air in its advertised humidity mode (if anyone cared).........................Basically, if it's stinking hot in a humid climate air con is luxury but a fan is often enough in reality below real stinking hot humid and always worthwhile, and the rest of this stuff hangs around on gadget shelves and if they feel OK for you in a certain situation that's fine (cleaning and faff issues aside).......EDIT: I do like gadgets and enjoyed it. Also lots of COLD beer I find is great (yeah I know the science there but feels good LOL)

oh dear sorry to think you paid way over odds for it £34 in argos last year b&m selling the original Artic Air for £14.99 there is an Artic Air 2 with washable filter. replacement filers are £14. ime not impressed and makes van more humid. wash out regular cos can get a damp smell coming out. I use aroma oil in just a few drops so really its a glorified air freshener. iced water or ice is needed for any " cooling " happy caravanning
