Thanks for your reviews Jeremy! Boucher’s are the best! After buying an SG-61 and an HG-56 I discovered that in addition to Boucher’s outstanding guitars Robin Boucher and his staff are truly terrific people to deal with!

My Boucher HG-66i, Canadian Maple B & S, is on it's way and hopefully will be competed by August 2021. Big Thanks to JP for helping me spend my dogs inheritance for them!
They truly sound - as you said - like instruments of excellence. The tight grain in the tops along with the silking truly speaks high-end. The lows were well balanced with the mids and the highs, and those high notes just ring out. Sustain is superb! There are no 'obnoxious' notes or louder single strings. These guitars truly sing! I think they are two of the best I've heard you audition. I'm going back now to re-listen to some others to compare.
Oh man...you're making me miss the two Boucher's that I've parted with. I had an OM with torrefied top & Bubinga B&S which was my main squeeze for two years. Ultimately parted with it to get a bit more space at the saddle for fingerpicking but otherwise no complaints ever. And an older dread with a non-torrefied top & walnut B&S...just wasn't the tone I was looking for but again, no complaints about build quality. I'm so glad you got a chance to try these...they really are great instruments. My dream Boucher is one of those HG models but maybe with mahogany B&S. I enjoy your channel and what you're offering for the betterment of guitar geeks everywhere...cheers from Canada!
I just watched a J.P Cormier video the other day and was wondering if by chance you knew each other. Well, I see you are acquainted and what a great match. Two of my favorite guys talking about guitars, it just doesn't get better than that. The tribe lives on......
I told you about 2 years ago about them! I’m so glad you were able to do this review! I have an SG-52-C...almost the same as the dread here... not torrified though. The “C” is Concert pack which comes with a Fishman Matrix Infinity. Oh, and love it! And judging by the fact my last name is Boucher... 😉
I like Boucher. I played 3 of them at Righteous Guitars in Atlanta and all of them were killer. None were dreads, which is what I was looking for, but they were really great guitars, nonetheless.
I'd reccomend leaving the descriptions up a bit longer...some of us cannot see well and it takes a second to pick up the 5x magnifier. Great sounding guitars, but I knew that before this demo. One of Canada's secrets. Great demo, thanks Jeremy.
I'm anxious to play a Boucher or several, but I am reluctant to buy a torrified guitar. I know when I pick it up if it's a good guitar that will age well. I am not convinced that torrification is going to give you the same result as natural aging. George Gruhn is not a big proponent of cooking tops for the same reason. He has commented on it and you can find his opinions which count way more than mine do. But I am looking forward to playing Bouchers because of what so many are saying.
Boucher guitars are the top of the food chain. When it comes to strap buttons and jacks for pickup systems, for me personally, I would rather leave the strap button intact, and drill a separate hole about 1.25" or so away from the existing strap button. Picture the guitar laying on it's back on a work bench: as you're looking at the strap button, the jack would be located 1.25" to your right, so that when you're standing & playing using a strap, the jack is located below the strap button, towards the floor. The jack location is still perfectly centered in relation to the guitar's top and back ( like the strap button ), but below the strap button when standing & playing using a strap. This way, the strap button and the jack never interfere with each other, but the biggest reason is NOT having to rely on a jack to strap your guitar while standing & playing UN-PLUGGED. The first time I saw an acoustic guitar set up this way with the strap button still intact, as the jack is located as described above, I was very impressed. The end block has plenty of real estate for the jack to be located in this way. And if ya ever wanna play plugged in while standing, simply place the strap on the strap button FIRST, then plug into the jack. Plugging the guitar cable in first would make placing a strap onto the strap button a little more tricky. So strap first, THEN insert the cable into the jack.
You've played a lot of guitars and your playing stands out, show casing these well. With you saying this about Boucher, moves them to top of the list . . . 7:48 Collins acoustic, Huss n Dalton, Santa Cruz has left the chat; 8:00 Martin guitar has left the chat; 9:00 Gibson has left the chat; 9:05 Huss n Dalton, Santa Cruz has rejoined chat; 15:00 Froggy Bottom, Huss n Dalton, Santa Cruz has left the chat.
