Thanks so much for stopping by the Collings room and the kind words! It was a pleasure to chat guitars and hear both of you playing, as always. Already looking forward to Summit 2024!
Did Collings introduce a new voicing/bracing for tops at the Summit for D and OM models? They talk about that at the end of the video but I'm not seeing anything on the Collings website. Or maybe they're referring to the different voicing that the traditional models have?
So in my opinion, I his channel has been probably one of the greatest additions to TH-cam. It literally has a place in my every day life and has made my want for instruments magnify by 1,000 times. My wife doesn’t appreciate the channel as much lol.
ACOUSTIC GUITAR'S HEAVEN!!!!!! For me, a poor guy, I'l never have the chance to have one of them.... but JP helped me to buy an affordable one (Epiphone Excellente) Thanks a lot !!! Acoustic Shoppe and JP Cormier.... my favorite TH-cam Acoustic guitar channels!!!! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to hear these masterpieces!!! Beyond the guitars they mentioned, I also loved the Jumbo style Martin....and Thompsons too... Greetings from Greece from a 65 y.o. "youngster"!!!! 🙂
Watching this for about the 30th time right now, and what's really standing out to me at the moment is how great of a rhythm guitar player John is. We all know he's a great lead player, but he's just as good at rhythm.
Neither one of you guys are normal! 🙂 That was some super playing....what a great video!...and you guys are having as much fun playing as we are listening.
The only thing J.P. Is better at than playing the guitar is being an awesome all around human being. His live show on Wednesday nights (String Theory ) has literally changed my life for the better. So glad you guys listened to me and checked out his show. Amazing playing to both of you !
Lawyers and doctors are the only people that can buy this stuff. Oh yea, and famous folk. The next time I have $10,000 to blow, I’ll give it to charity.
Thank you for going the distance and visiting nearly every major maker that was displaying!!! I loved all of them but have to say that it did my heart good to see you two with a Huss & Dalton CM and their dread! I have owned a 12 Fret, slotted peg head CM for the last ten years and love it dearly as well as a couple of their 00's! Thank you for being brave enough to invite and play with JP! What a wonderful video!!!
Come on guys. Y'all are having too much fun. I think I'll take one of each. Would have loved to be there. Keep having fun and smiling cause music is what makes the world. You can never have enough guitars.
Just ran across this video.... you guys just put the joy in music together... The John and JP show in the making... this was great gentleman, just superb work!😊
😮 😮WOW! JP and John together!!!! But I was so nervous watching JP play those beautiful guitars with his lanyard on behind them and not putting it behind his neck like John did.
Smoked a few cigarettes with JP out the back door of the Harrison Memorial Hall back in the day... a gentleman and joyfull player. One of the best musicians I've met in the 1000 plus concerts I've worked.
What a fun video! It's great to hear all of those guitars....I"ve been a JP Cormier fan for a long time and the Acoustic Shoppe Boys are always just great! THANKS FOR THIS ONE!
Awesome video! Great picking! JP is from another planet! Y'all killed it on Gold Rush! Thank you! We are fortunate to have so many great guitar builders, and so many great guitars to choose from. My hat's off to all of them!
I have had the FG 9 M for about 5 months. It is a fantastic guitar that is actually affordable compared to many of the guitars in this video. Some have commented they would never buy a 4K Yamaha. In my opinion, it is a bargain and the neck is the best I have played. Try one if you have the opportunity! Thanks for this very interesting and entertaining video!
I bought a LL26 a while ago and after watching JP rave about the FG9 I heavily considering adding to my collection, I love the LL26 for its sound and playability ,I only wish it had a nitro finish, not a fan of poly finishes , I am blown away by the upper level Yamaha guitars though!!
Some of my favorite things about John. Hes a awesome picker and laughs histericaly. JP is a monster guitarist. He always blows my mind. Many great guitars. That first one, id never heard of, but was exceptional in JP's hands. As well as all you guys played.
You guys really put a smile on my face that you couldn’t slap off. I’ve gotta get your blue grass kinda style down. I love it. I also love your reviews. 👍🏼
Oh my goodness! I'm sitting here and totally enthralled by you both playing them guitars!! My favorites: Martin Maple Jumbo, Yamaha's are killers and Huss & Dalton looks! Here in Los Ángeles California...no one plays like you guys!! Love it,!!
I wanna see yall pick together a lot more often!!! Just fabulous! The Thompson room is where I would set up camp! I could never afford to purchase one but.... Jus sayin'!
Yes 12 fret 000 with slotted headstock is my favourite style of guitar. Big enough sound but the bass doesn’t overwhelm the trebles. So versatile fingerstyle or flatpicking and they just look elegant.
I really enjoyed this video. Like both of you and many of the viewers, I've owned a bunch of guitars...(I'm a bass player by trade, go figure). Been trying to figure out what is going to be my last forever guitar. This video has helped me narrow down the list. Cheers to both of you!
That was a TON of fun ... Can't believe you didn't mention the Bourgeois Guitars as a favorite. Although the ones you did mention were VERY good .. My first guitar was a Yamaha, and it really sounded good. I love the sound of the FG9. Most fun i've had in 30 minutes or less prior to Dominoes ...
Ok... I thought I was good to go with JP's channel and Flat Pick Nation with Patrik Lundgren. Guitar heaven!. But it looks like I'll have to subscribe to one more channel....The Acoustic Shoppe. You guys were incredible. I'd love to see more collaboration between you two...the chemistry is definitely there! I'm currently playing a Yamaha FS5....(influenced by JP).... but if they come out with an FS9 (in rosewood) this is gonna hurt (financially). Thanks for the tour b'ys !!!
The first Santa Cruz was a cut above in the quality of sound, to my ear. It looked a bit weird, but the sound was rich. It differentiated itself from the others.
Grreat video! Funny interactions and fantastic guitars! Can someone tell me what they are playing in the martin room? I'd like to learn that piece. It sounds like it may have a celtic influence.
Regarding the Collings OM mahogany you preferred, was it a short scale or a regular 25.5 inch scale? (I am looking to maybe purchase a mahogany Collings OM or OOO.)
Wow...did you notice that Martin wasn't mentioned in the closing reviews...at all. I'm a *Collings* Guy these days, and all my vintage Martins and Gibsons stay in their case. I could have chosen anything for my last flat-top.. And am just thrilled with my CJSB! BTW...NOBODY does 'sunburst' like Collings. Play On...
Hi,In this video John and JP are jamming on a Bluegrass Tune on Thompson Dreadnaughts .JP has the sitka spruce top model What,s the name of that Fantastic Tune?.
“String Theory “ is J.P.’s live Wednesday night show @ 6:00 pm est check it out, join the family. It’s an hour(ish) of guitar talk. Best hour of the week.
My ears are in ecstasy and I don't think the drug store got any remedies for it lol. Amazing guitars guys! So many talented builders. Hard to choose from.
@@AcousticShoppe The one on the left is definitely a street legend but the one on the right that JP is playing looks almost like a Gibson jumbo but it's a Martin...coolest looking Martin I think I've ever seen
Yamaha always adds extra compensation angle at the saddle, thus, angling back the low E more than most other makers. Just look at their saddle angle compared to most of the other hand mades. Yamaha has always done this on all their acoustics. What that does is 2-fold; Besides giving their guitars better intonation out the gate, when a Yamaha guitar ages and the top naturally flexes a bit along with the common neck joint shifting, the saddle usually needs to be lowered just to maintain the action. Well, due to this sever factory compensation, the intonation for the lower strings stays great, whereas other maker's guitars suffer from a low E that's usually ends up quite sharp at the 12th as it ages. Never mind that you can also compensate the saddle by hand as well. Not sure if this sever angle was chosen on purpose in the early days of Yammy steel strings or it was just dumb luck, and they went with it. Either way.... it's awesome and other makers could learn from this.
Thanks so much for stopping by the Collings room and the kind words! It was a pleasure to chat guitars and hear both of you playing, as always. Already looking forward to Summit 2024!
Looking forward to IBMA

My absolute favourite performance from 2 'Greats'. Loved every minute. WOW !!!🙏

This is the best guitar video, less talk n full blast, thank u guy, that was a 'Chinese wedding dinner,' going back full stomach.
You guys are a natural freakin team. Goofin and playing kick ass licks, kinda one upin each other, but not in a cocky way at all. Love it.
I have not laughed so hard in a long while. Not to mention some great playing on some great guitars. You guys need to take this act on the road.
A JJPCC session for sure. Makes me wonder what would be best for me? Thanks JP and John
