The GBA thps games were my life, I have memories of me at 3 am in the morning taking the batteries off the tv remotes to keep on grinding on my top bunk. Heaven.
Just a quick correction: There are more tricks in the thps1 race/tournament mode. After testing it out, this is what I found after testing all the button combos I could think of: 360 Japan Air: Down, Left, A (5 points) Tailgrab: Right, Down, A (5 Points) Method: Down, Up, A (5 Points) Indy: (Either horizontal direction), A (3 Points) Stalefish: (Either vertical direction), A (3 Points) If you constantly do 5 point tricks on every jump it's pretty easy to beat tournament mode (got 600+ on my first run with Bucky)
I suspect Radrat is not qualified to comment on the GBA versions, that's not a jab, i too suck at the gba ones they're hard af but i see vids on youtube making them all look awesome
You gotta checkout Pro Skater 2 for the GBA. I remember when that came out we were blown away. The ability to take THPS2 on the go was an incredible concept back in the day. I never had a GBA growing up, but my friend did, so I would always borrow it during school lunch to play THPS2. It was great. Fumny thing, he also had THPS on Gameboy Color. I definitely remember that game sucking, and your video made me remember why! The GBA version of THPS2 takes an isometric view, yet uses 3D character (or DKC 3D if you know what I mean) on pre-rendered backgrounds. The difference was, the levels and gameplay matched the Playstation version. EDIT: Looks like a lot of other commenters recommended it too!
11:22 Idk why, but I like the way your voice trails off randomly. It's like your brain is trying to stay positive, but your mouth is like "fuck this game." lol Makes the review feel authentic
Did you ever play the NGage version? That was my first cell phone and THPS was the first and only game I got for it. Thought it was a great port, although it killed the buttons on my phone... On an unrelated note, I noticed your Neal Stephenson books in your older vids. I'd highly recommend Seveneves if you haven't gotten around to that one yet!
You missed THAS on the GBA! It's better than Downhill Jam at least! (All covered in my book, of course!) Glad I'm not the only one who had to suffer through these titles recently for the good of mankind. Haha. Another excellent video, as always.
Have I ever mentioned to you just how much of a Savage you are and how underrated you are as a TH-cam channel you should easily be over a hundred thousand subscriber Channel
Hey, Rad Rat. Have you played Olli Olli or Olli Olli 2? My opinion is that they're the best skate boarding games of recent years. On topic with the video, I really enjoyed the THPS1/2/3 on the GBC. In particular, THPS3. I spent a long time playing that game. Only quit because the cart stopped working. I'm not sure if you touched on it, but you can gain a lot more points by changing your stance.
THPS4 GBA is actually not bad. I remember playing it all summer and trying to get all the gaps. I was so desperate I made a TH-cam video asking for help looking for the last three gaps I needed lol
You know this reminded me of this old Rocket Power game I had for Gameboy Advanced I believe called Rocket Power Zero Gravity Zone, and to be honest I thought it wasn't half bad as a kid. Maybe sometime you can look into it?
Love your channel man, been subbed for a while now. I was just watching minimme do a video on the same games and his shoutout to you made me come check it out lol
I lost it when you said "link 4 tricks on a log" hahahahahahaha. What a stupid challenge. It almost sounds like a joke. Maybe these games were just meant to be a massive troll.
No. They play a lot more like the PS1 games but from a 3/4 isometric camera view. THPS2 for the GBA was surprisingly faithful in terms of game feel and level design compared to the original PS1 version. I enjoyed playing it a lot as a teenager.
Trust me dude i'm from the oldschool stuff like thps1 is crack to us xD your right tho they were pretty lazy for the time it was made they could have done more but it still gave me a huge boner. skate or die was one of my favorite games back in the oldschool bro. that was the shit! Hey they should have stuck a joust mode in xD that would have been great.
Hey dude I commented on your Jamie Thomas video but I wanted you to see it here. Love your channel dude. It's a game called skateboard lines. Please mention my name. It's an android game but maybe not apple. Check it out. It's really fun.

You gotta play the GBA versions of Tony Hawk, they aren't bad at all
Some of them aren't bad. THPS4 GBA is good, for instance. But there's quite a bit of bad GBA Tony Hawk games...
Except for American Sk8land, which was horrible.
+Xindictive I played 1-3 and a bit of underground 1-2 and I found all of them to be half decent. I even played some Dave Mirra games similar to those.
I played THPS 2-4 and they were great (for a kid without a PC or „real“ console
@@QWERTYCommander sk8land is for the DS
"This black guy in shorts is actually Rodney Mullin"
He felt like getting a tan for the GBA, that's all.
Must’ve been a hell of a tan.
Dr. Snuggles the cancer comes with a free tan
I Never thought I’d hear that sentence in my lifetime tbh 😂😂
That's really Gershon Mosley.
THPS 2 on GBA is suprisingly good, and was reviewed pretty high back in the day. Maybe check that one out sometime?
Dan K I tried THUG 1 and 2 and THPS4, and they all can compare to the console versions
All the gba versions were great. They kept the same controls, just in an isometric view.
Dan K create a board design was the absolute best on gba
I suspect Radrat is not qualified to comment on the GBA versions, that's not a jab, i too suck at the gba ones they're hard af but i see vids on youtube making them all look awesome
Been watching all your videos, love how you cover every aspect of skateboarding. Thanks for the great content.
Love finding more retrogaming youtubers. Subbed!

You should really review THUG for the GBA... It’s the best handheld skate game, imo... and the physics are reminiscent of THPS1.
One of the sickest videos you have made so far!!!!! Ur video game reviews are on point
I love u for doing this grew up with these 😭
tony hawk underground 2 remix for the psp?
Thomas Heffernan yessssss
Brotherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Same thing as thug2 but few extra levels and the park editor removed. There would be no reason reviewing that.
JakePRO , there’s extra levels
Awesome! I suggested these games awhile ago. Happy to see the video come out.
T.H.U.G. 2 on GBA uses like 30 second song samples of popular tracks if I remember correctly. Impressive but also stupid
Same thing with aggressive inline
Keegan Kimbllin they had the best create a board feature for a gba
11:22 Idk why, but I like the way your voice trails off randomly. It's like your brain is trying to stay positive, but your mouth is like "fuck this game." lol Makes the review feel authentic
Please do the GBA Tony hawk games! Love your videos man.
You can actually do more grinds in thps2 I remember doing nosegrinds, boardslides, and tailslides I just can't remember the controls.
Likewise, you can do more than two grabs in race mode in thps1. You need to press multiple directions and then A.
To do them you have to press a and b at the same time then a direction on the d pad
The stalefish animation looks like a method grab!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Did you ever play the NGage version? That was my first cell phone and THPS was the first and only game I got for it. Thought it was a great port, although it killed the buttons on my phone...

miss your videos!!!
Best skate channel ever!
15:27 You're missing Tony Hawk's American Sk8land in that list, it also had a GBA version.
Tony hawk American sk8land for DS is actually really fuckin good. One of my favorite in the series
Have I ever mentioned to you just how much of a Savage you are and how underrated you are as a TH-cam channel you should easily be over a hundred thousand subscriber Channel
Seeing that Adio logo in the background brings back some nostalgia I had like 2 pairs of their shoes that I bought when I worked at Zumiez
Gotta start reviewing movies that have scenes of skateboarders in them, like kids, police academy 4, etc once you do all the games 👍
7:40 you can also do a crook and a boardslide if you just press left or right and b right after
What about the Game Boy Advance ones? They were actually really good...
For whatever reason, I remembered that video the second I read your reply. I'll have to watch it again, but I think he found it too difficult.
Split the advanced series into two
Underground 2 Remix was actually pretty great as far as mobile ports go. It was great for a fix on the go.
I had fun playing THPS2 on GBC...good memories I had
I only played these on GBA, so it's cool to see what they're like on the Color.
The GBC version of THPS3 was the first TH game I ever owned...... I never played the console version until recently.
I actually like THPS3 better on the PS1, I feel like the level order and design was a bit better :\
Great Video! I literally bought a GBA for THPS2 and later a PSP for THUG2 Remix
Try Tour De Thrash, it has a half pipe with a central mini ramp and was sponsored by Santa Cruz, it's regular GAMEBOY though not GBC.
Dope review
THPS4 GBA is actually not bad. I remember playing it all summer and trying to get all the gaps. I was so desperate I made a TH-cam video asking for help looking for the last three gaps I needed lol
You know this reminded me of this old Rocket Power game I had for Gameboy Advanced I believe called Rocket Power Zero Gravity Zone, and to be honest I thought it wasn't half bad as a kid. Maybe sometime you can look into it?
the DS games are pretty good. haven't tried the downhill jam version though
I recommend THPS2 on GBA, and American Skateland + Downhill Jam on the DS
You seriously need to do all the tony hawk games for the gameboy advanced, thug2 remix, and tony hawks american sk8teland for the ds
Awesome my friend love your vids 😃
4:16 Looks like that level was based off the unfinished Freeway level from the THPS1 beta build.
Love your channel man, been subbed for a while now. I was just watching minimme do a video on the same games and his shoutout to you made me come check it out lol
Have you played olli olli on switch or on 3ds? I have it on 3ds and is great
Have you ever tried finding anybody who worked on any of these weird games? Would be cool with an inside look.
Please review Skateboard Lines. It's an IOS game. Keep up the grate vids dude
Awesome! Thanks, OP!
Have you played Olli Olli? I think that 2d skate game Is dope
what's interesting is that the first tony hawk game on gbc is the original idea of thps basically downhill racing doing tricks and collecting tapes
Tony Hawk is black in the GBC version of THPS3, but his normal skin colour in the normal game itself
You should check out Disney extreme skate adventure. Actually a pretty solid game.
You should do a video on what happened to street luge. Did you ever see the Malcolm in the Middle ep where he luged 😂
review MTV pure ride or the gbc color port of MTV skateboarding
THPS4 on the GBA now that is easily the best handheld skating game ever made.
How about Spyro year of the dragon's mini game??
Why don't you review Tony Hawk's American Sk8land???
You should check out the gba games. Actually pretty fun and good trick selection
They should of use A, B, and AB together for grinds.
Tony Hawk 2 on the GameBoy Advance is legitimately good. Give it a try!
Do a video on the Dolphin Flip
Have you played Tour De Thrash?
How much for the Spider-Man?
I lost it when you said "link 4 tricks on a log" hahahahahahaha. What a stupid challenge. It almost sounds like a joke. Maybe these games were just meant to be a massive troll.
These actually don’t look as bad as I thought. I mean, for GB COLOR I was expecting something way worse.
review the DS ones. they were pretty good, if a little too easy
You can do a lipslide in thps2 on gbc
The best Tony hawk games are American wasteland, thug, pro skater 1 on PlayStation & Pro skater on GameBoy Advance.
Which one to buy part 2 or 3 on gbc?
GBA games next?
great video
Bro you gotta check Skate attack for the ps2!
Review games on the gameboy advance? They are actually very good
Are the GBA version of THPS2 and 3 the same as the GBC versions?
No. They play a lot more like the PS1 games but from a 3/4 isometric camera view. THPS2 for the GBA was surprisingly faithful in terms of game feel and level design compared to the original PS1 version. I enjoyed playing it a lot as a teenager.
Oh yeah thanks for that :)
Project 8 on PSP is probably the best mobile Tony Hawk of all time, and the best Tony Hawk game released after THUG2.
Hell yeah steamer on the thumbnail
GBA next? 😀
2 and a half modes, just how I like it
360 shove it's and impossibles look completely different? Try telling that to all the people claiming to have done a double impossible.
Amazing!
Why tf is Rodney Mullen not a white guy?? 😂
Probably got a tan
are the gameboy titles developed by neversoft???
thanks
Thug 1&2 on gba please and thps4 on gba
What about the game boy advance games
Rodney 'Soul Man' Mullen! Ha.
What is the best street deck
No
PLEASE DO TONY HAWK'S AMERICAN SK8LAND ON GAMEBOY ADVANCE. I HAD IT AND IT WAS A LOT BETTER THAN THESE IN MY OPINION
The GBA versions of 2 and 3 were AWESOME. Almost comparable to the ps2 version
Dan Holomý eeeeehhhhh, not really.
The GBA versions, however, are pretty close.
Wait Rodney isn't black?
This exists? Wow!
Radrat do tony hawk american sk8te land
Trust me dude i'm from the oldschool stuff like thps1 is crack to us xD your right tho they were pretty lazy for the time it was made they could have done more but it still gave me a huge boner. skate or die was one of my favorite games back in the oldschool bro. that was the shit! Hey they should have stuck a joust mode in xD that would have been great.
I mean eventually, you have to review the Dave Mirra's/Matt Hoffmans and Aggressive Inline!
You look like Jared from Silicon Valley 🤪
I have pro skater 1 on the gbc lol
Do olliolli and olliolli2
You should talk about the RPCS3 emulator progress on Skate 3.
Hey dude I commented on your Jamie Thomas video but I wanted you to see it here. Love your channel dude. It's a game called skateboard lines. Please mention my name. It's an android game but maybe not apple. Check it out. It's really fun.
