My favorite game as a mono red player was when I went against a mono blue player and he countered every single spell and won with a single delver of secrets
Alchemy is such a fun format. For example: goblin morale sergeant has a hidden mechsnic where when it hits the table on turn two, half the time your opponent immediately concedes. It's these intricate synergies that really make me a genius magic player.
This is hilarious to me. Back in HS I was learning how to play with a friend who had been playing for like 10 years. Long story short my red starter half deck thing(the one nerd stores use to give away to get people into magic) wiped his black white like stacked deck(he would buy individual cards and he told me some of them were a little pricy. At least to us hs kids lmao)and he almost lost it. He was still nice but you can see the look in his eyes and he was like “wtf let me try” and I wiped him with his own shit. So that’s why I’m an undefeated champion 2-0 baby let’s gooooooooooo!
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to play Mono Red. The strategy is extremely complex, and without a solid grasp of statistics most of the choices will go over a typical player's head. There's also Red's "carpe diem" outlook, which is deftly woven into it's playstyle- it's color philosophy draws heavily from Aldous Huxley literature, for instance. The players understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these stratagems, to realise that they're not just chance- they say something deep about the GAME ITSELF. As a consequence people who dislike Mono Red truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the intelligence in the catchphrase "I Bolt the Bird," which itself is a cryptic reference to one of the earliest metas in MtG history. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as John Ormerod's genius wit unfolds itself on their play mats. Still more IQ than the avg blue player taking 5 minutes to decide "do I counter the spell that will kill me?" While having 5 of the exact same option, all while still having to do no math. I'd rather be 65 IQ and aware of it, than 1IQ while thinking NOT being able to do basic math makes me a hyper genius
As a Neheb commander player I find great pleasure in the brain power to keep it going. Its not much, and thats what counts. Do damage, get mana, use mana for more damage. Simple as.
I have a Grand Warlord Radha deck and it's the same thing. If you're not swinging every turn, you're losing, so the deck is built to always have something to swing with, and if you are swinging every turn you just drop haymaker after haymaker. It's so vital to keep swinging that I have several Fogs in the deck partly so I can swing with everything and then Fog myself so my creatures stay alive and I generated the mana I needed.
And that means a full 20 turn 3, you won't actually have 20 life by turn 3, but I'll still be making you take 20 because negative life is what you deserve
Only thing dumber then Mono Red players are Mono Blue players. That archetypes main wincon is to basically make your opponent concede. At least Red kills you properly.
Those are colours not archetypes, there are so many ways to play either. Mono-red could be, burn, prison, painter, blitz, 8-whack or turbo Muxus for example. Mono-blue could be merfolk, omnitell, spirits, faeries, spiral tide or solitude for example.

Created a boros deck which was meant to be a spell deck. But it every game, I have somehow gotten krenko, tin Street kingpin and other cards and ended up generating like 30 tokens. I called it 'the red army'

You do know you can use cavalcade of calamity in historic if you’re running mono-red 1/1 full swing… it’s a 2 mana enchantment that says whenever a creature you control with 1 power attacks, deal 1 damage to the defending player. So even if they have blockers you deal damage and if they don’t block your 1/1 is like a 2/2

I once made my brother cry by using a moon red deck. One of my proudest moments. Best part is, he was playing a control deck, but you can’t control a non existent board. And you can only counter so many lightning bolts

As a mono-black player, I get where the Cruelty of Gix guy's head was at. Never do a raw concede over just ending yourself manually in a goofy way if you can help it.

I believe mono red deck players are the most intelligent they've come to the realization that 5 minutes or less for a hand of magic compared to 10 and over allows them to do other things in their life and yet still get their dailies done.
Funny thing is the idea for RDW was designed in a linear algebra class. The idea was to do a bunch of math so the deck would always curve out and be the most consistent deck in the format.
I like that he's playing mono red like a mono green player. Most mono reds I've fought essentially use nothing but instant damage cards with the forge to make the progressively bigger (almost green) tokens
All i gotta do is count to 10...twice! It's funny how this is the case for a lot of players but back in the day RDW is what lead to the creation of "the mana curve" and legit math major's brewed it up. All the blue players were too busy drinking the ink that was needed to print the cards.
the only time i personally had a ton of fun playing monored was using Delina, Wild Mage as a 60card brawl commander before the last standard rotation, creating tapped and attacking nonlegendary copies of whatever else was on my board. ideally Calamity Bearer
Red/White player here, it's still "swing every turn" but I actually choose which creature is going to be my champion, then have two attack phases because of Raiyuu, Storm's Edge

ngl mono red does more calculations/math than any other archetype it's funny how red players coined the phrase "math is for blockers" when they probably have to do the most math and their "lines" to win tend to be incredibly narrow mathematically and without room for miscalculation of damage

Long time, when I my first starter, I took Kamalh Pit fighter starter from 10th edition. Only like, over 15 years later I started playing him as my commander. It was too smart for me at time.
I'd rather deal with ANY number of mono red decks than ever have to deal with ONE mono green 'Tooth and Nail' deck. At least I can mitigate a bunch of 1/1s but turn 4 Tooth and Nail dropping TWO 11/11 INDESTRUCTABLE TRAMPLERS that never die (only get shuffled back into the deck if 'removed') can go duck itself right off into the sun.
Try rabble rousing plus this and you win every game. Especially with impassioned orator or any other card that gives you life when a creature enters the battlefield.

As an 11 time R, R/W LGS Champion, I can say; that red deck need's at least 3 more Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning and Chandra.

I believe mono red deck players are the most intelligent they've come to the realization that 5 minutes or less for a hand of magic compared to 10 and over allows them to do other things in their life and yet still get their dailies done.

Funny thing is the idea for RDW was designed in a linear algebra class. The idea was to do a bunch of math so the deck would always curve out and be the most consistent deck in the format.
I like that he's playing mono red like a mono green player. Most mono reds I've fought essentially use nothing but instant damage cards with the forge to make the progressively bigger (almost green) tokens

It's funny how this is the case for a lot of players but back in the day RDW is what lead to the creation of "the mana curve" and legit math major's brewed it up.
All the blue players were too busy drinking the ink that was needed to print the cards.

Earlier today I watched Day 9 pilot a monored landsmash deck that was ostensibly intelectually difficult but also mostly just came down to gambling.
Mono Red gives my nine lives+solemnity deck life
the only time i personally had a ton of fun playing monored was using Delina, Wild Mage as a 60card brawl commander before the last standard rotation, creating tapped and attacking nonlegendary copies of whatever else was on my board. ideally Calamity Bearer

ngl mono red does more calculations/math than any other archetype
it's funny how red players coined the phrase "math is for blockers" when they probably have to do the most math and their "lines" to win tend to be incredibly narrow mathematically and without room for miscalculation of damage

Long time, when I my first starter, I took Kamalh Pit fighter starter from 10th edition. Only like, over 15 years later I started playing him as my commander. It was too smart for me at time.

I'd rather deal with ANY number of mono red decks than ever have to deal with ONE mono green 'Tooth and Nail' deck. At least I can mitigate a bunch of 1/1s but turn 4 Tooth and Nail dropping TWO 11/11 INDESTRUCTABLE TRAMPLERS that never die (only get shuffled back into the deck if 'removed') can go duck itself right off into the sun.
