i used to always run around my school, looking for these little skinks and playing with them, they were so cute! dont worry, i put them back where i found them
Yes, you are right! All siblings should take care of each other! You are lucky to have brother who looks out for you. Hope these skinks get to take of themselves!
8 of them!!! That’s really exciting! I know they have to be set free, but the thought makes me a little sad. Key the song- Born Free! I have been so happy to have gotten to follow this journey thus far.
I’ve had several blue tailed skinks and I’m always happy too see a person that knows what there doing. That vivariums fire 🔥 very creative. Keep up the good work!!
We caught a baby one the other day smaller than my thumb. what do we feed it? We caught some really small crickets and earwigs and put them in with it but for the most part the skink stays hid under the dirt and rarely comes out that we can see
They’re awesome little critters for sure! Check out our other video on complete care guidance for a baby skink: th-cam.com/video/VfhRiBKhzUU/w-d-xo.html
Have you considered breeding the skinks? Their is a massive need for more "tame" captive bred skink and these are really easy first pets for most people. :)
I agree that these are some pretty awesome lizards. As a breeder, though, I wouldn’t be able to guarantee the quality of life a stranger would give them. I’d really hate to send one to a bad home.
@@MiguelBioExotics Thanks for the questions. I’ve actually had nine videos on this species, and I’m dropping another one tomorrow. If you’d like to watch them, I go into pretty good detail on their care. Just check out my Five-Lined Skink Playlist!
I have several pet 5 lined skinks. Mine live outside all year in a large Rubbermaid bin. They are native to where I live in Maryland and right now mine are hibernating. They have babies every year that I release on my property. I have plenty of rock piles for them to live in. I keep my adults though. I also breed leopard geckos and I breed their feeder cockroaches too. I breed Madagascar hissing cockroaches, dubia cockroaches and red runner cockroaches.
Question! I cant find any information on the amount of uvb they need! What % do they need? I just got a 7% shade dweller uvb t5, is that ok or should i get something stronger??
I’m from Australia so we got the eastern water skins and southern water skinks you see them in your yard and stuff and I caught one to be my pet it’s name is little foot one day to be big foot it’s a male and in Australia to catch one of you get a baby chase it then stand still for a second or 2 then slowly tip toe bend down and grab it’s body
Love it! I only wish thete were more exotic animals esp her gaurdians and geeks like you living in cookie cutter realm Ga. They have the mentality of shooting reptiles no matter what specises..i hear all kinds of stories... Fear can make you simple minded. Anywho love yhe the video. I need to ugrade my enclosure in the future my BT skink

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words and support. Keep it wild!
This was Soo helpful 😁
I wonder what the 8 baby skink names will be
Maybe the names of the eight planets or the seven dwarfs and Snow White. That was a good question! I, too wonder what their names will be.
What were you feeding the new borns?

How do they drink water? Just by misting the tank 3-5 times a day or via a bowl!
We mist and have a shallow bowl. There are times when the skinks like to lie in the water.
Thanks for watching!

The 50 gal terrarium looks very natural like a lil paradise lost if one was the size of the skink but 7 babies?:o That's alot of names to come up with
Should they be kept in colonies?
Only as babies. As they grow older, the males will become more territorial and fight with each other if not separated.
Hi my skink recently laid eggs and I was wondering what to feed the babies
Great question! I recommend checking out my other video for more info:

How long did you take to feed them
We generally just leave the crickets and worms in the tank until all of them are eaten, which in some cares might take days.
How do you care for them?
Great question. Check out my other video for more info:

You are so fun and cool. You'll be a great dad someday if you aren't already.
will they chase each other just playing?
How do you feed these ?
I have posted many videos on this subject. I suggest you watch them. 👍
I think I found an injured skink. Would you be able to help me out with it? TIA!
Thanks for the question. The only real recommendation I can give is to take it to a vet.
