Food is the motivation for everything. My skink, for example, will do anything for a cockroach. At first I lured him in to the edge of the terrarium, then onto my hand, etc As for fear and hiding, for some time I simply sat on the floor next to the terrarium with the glass open, often even talk to her get used to my presence. 😂 Ah, and when I wanted to take her in my arms, I didn't just grab her, I let her smell my hand and then I slowly reach for her from below. Now she waits for me every day. 😊
Aww that’s so sweet 😊 I will say in the clip where I put my hand in and Bruce ran off, that’s the closest I’ve gotten to walking in the room, him remaining out and about and me scooping him up lol
I have an Indonesian blue tongue and he is the sweetest most docile loving boy 🥰 I absolutely adore him and he adores me 😍 Although he refuses anything else but one thing specifically 😊 That's ok. As long as he eats and is happy and healthy which he is 😁 Any time he sees me he comes over to the glass and stands up and starts clawing to get me to pick him up and let him out so he can sit with me or play etc. Best reptile I've ever mothered by far!
Yes, I wanted to do an update on Rex as he’s going to be a year old at the end of this month. I know skink content doesn’t really do well on my channel but I feel it’s been too long since his last update 😅
Our Northern wants out every day waiting at the door. So we have a tent setup for him to roam around when we can’t watch him roam around a huge basement.
I'm relatively new to BTS as well (got my boy a month after you!) and so far I've found that food is the best way to get them comfy with being handled. I'll take my boy out for some socialization and occasionally give him some banana or berries as a treat for being good. I also make sure to stick around close by when hes eating from his dish so that he knows I'm not a threat. Chatting with him also helps though it probably does sound a bit weird to people on the outside listening to me talk about my day to a lizard that only gives me side-eye.
My blue tongue is snuggly potato. She also loves getting out of her tank and will demand to be let if I don’t hold her for the amount of time she wants.
My BTS (a Northern) is my favorite lizard. She's so personable, and fun to watch. And feeding her is so easy now that she's an adult. She eats 3 days a week, and doesn't show any interest in food other than that. She doesn't love being held, but will tolerate it. I find her care as an adult way easier than as a baby.
I got a "farm bread" blue tongue skink that absolutely hated me. I ended up selling him to a breeder. I definitely would recommend only buying them if they were hand raised
I was wondering, because I didn't see it in your video backlog: Could you do a video on crested gecko body language?? I've got a new girl who's a full adult. She was an adoption from a breeder as she wasn't laying eggs very well; most were duds. And I fell in love with her and just didn't want a cheap unethical breeder overtaxing her and killing her in the process. I'm a keeper and already have a gargoyle gecko, a red tail boa I've had for going on 20 years now, and a baby green tree python. I love all my children and it's been pretty easy for me to read their body language; but I feel like this new girl, I call her Duchess, is still learning to trust me. And I just don't know if I'm doing anything wrong. I've watched a lot of your vids, and they've been so helpful! A lot of reptile youtubers are breeders; and keeping is a very different game. So thanks for making content! If you do make a vid about my question, or reply to this, thank you!
My classmate owns a blue tounge skinks, it is most likely wild caught but I'm not so sure. He says it always bites him and he wants to give it away for free
Is your guy axanthic? I have an axanthic indo BTS as well! They DEFINITELY learn as you mentioned 1:15. I've actually trained him to come out by doing a rubbing motion with my fingers whenever I feed him, and he comes RUNNING out whenever he sees me do that now. The unintended consequence of this was he's started to associate my fingers with food and I did get a little nip recently, so I'm planning to change up my cue haha. Your guy seems a little more happy to be handled than mine, mine gets a bit hissy but not aggressive at all. I typically just pet him instead to keep him comfortable with handling, without actually having to lift him up (he seems to be afraid of heights though he loves to climb). I have also found that my guy really doesn't burrow as much as other blue tongue skinks, even when I've made an effort to pile cypress mulch up he really doesn't seem to care to burrow Also LOVE your tank setup! I thought mine was pretty nice but yours is next level

Since I'm Indonesian, I have to have one of them. Mine is feisty, liked to chase crickets around the tank and his favourite food is papaya.
Ah nice :)
I would love to see an updated feeding video with all your current pets! Also some more Rex content is always good haha

This is a really cool video. I plan on getting one soon. Wish me luck lol.
2:39 my leo makes the same sound when he’s being handled!🤣
Haha Lyra does that too :)

Best lizard no contest the blue tongue skink love these guys so much
Yeah I’m really enjoying being a skink mum 😅
I learned so much about what BTS can eat in this video! Thank you for sharing the update on Bruce!
I wish I can buy locus in the United States I tried to look up locus so many times and can’t find nobody to sell them

One time my skink went under my bed and I couldn't get him out, so I left a trail of apple slices. He does anything for apple. Goes crazy for it. 🤣
My Leo always goes on my back where he knows I can't get him! I have also been stuck many times haha
My boy crapped on the back of my neck one night during this episode 😪
Haha yeah, I also think they love the back of the neck cs it’s nice and warm.
Nice 🎉🎉🎉
I like Reptile
Thanks 😀

Yeah even when it comes to wild caught - I kind of get why they’d be annoyed, they’ve been plucked out of the wild haha
Great video, thank you.
Thanks!
This is quite interesting...No plans to get one but this is interesting.
Thanks 😊
I love your videos!
Thank you 😊
I got mine a month ago. Poop stinks more than a horse! Once saw one longer than his leg and he's 9 months old LOL. going on 18.5 inches so far
Beautiful bluetongue boy...
Thanks 😊
I love Bruce he is super cute!

Oh no 😬 I wouldn’t want to be bitten by one of these lol
A very interesting and informative video, thanks!
👍🏽
I had an Indonesian named wasabi…she lived up to her name lmao
Spicy? Lol
@@leopardgeckotalk most DEFINITELY I still loved her though 😭
Rebecca, it's behavior. That u is unnecessary. Sincerely, someone who lives in the greatest country in the world............................Texas.
(I actually live in Missouri, but point remains.)
(In all seriousness, we love Bruce.)
😂😂 I always wonder whether people just think I’ve misspelt it or they know that’s how we spell it in the Uk, like favourite or colour.
