I have no idea how to properly estimate prices since contacting the artist is strictly forbidden. I really don't like to feel like i am downballing them by asking them with the minimum amount or also feel like i am asking too little or too much for the recommended amount. Also something to keep in mind, if you use a debit card and say you comission someone for 7000 and then comission two other people for 3000, first you will get charged an authorization of 7000, then if one of the people who are 3000 comissions accepts your request you will be charged 3000 and then the system will automatically charge ANOTHER authorization of 7000, then if the other artists accepts your other 3000 comission before the 7000 one accepts it then you will be charged 3000 and then yet another 7000, it will release 4000 for each but the "refund" or "authorization hold" will be released in 60 to 120 days as the website says, in my case it's been 60 days already so it takes a very long time. The lesson is that you need to make sure you never have other more expensive requests at the same time, or else you have to pray that the most expensive ones get accepted first so that doesn't happen.
Did you manage to find out how to estimate the price? I saw a artist i wish to commish giving a base price and i was thinking of multipling by 2 of that price as i want to have 2 characters drawn, but i do not know if i should add more for background or sth? Its so tough to gauge the price as no one list their minimal prices for headshots, busts, fullbody etc
Question: Is the Recommended amount usually the actual price or is it somewhere around that range like it could be higher or lower than the recommended amount depending on the art commission?
I had a question: Am I allowed to post a completed work on twitter? I forgot to mention it over the initial request, but I will be making no money from it. It's more so just sharing the finished art and giving credit to the artist.
Is this service good for creating characters for a video game project (e.g.: visual novels, RPG Maker games) and crediting the designers? In case of VNs, I would like to use public domain background image (also with credits) and compositions of my own
You would need to DM the artist on Twitter and pay for the design and copyright fees. This site is meant for fan art commissions, VTuber social media assets, but if you profit off their designs. You will have to DM them about commissioning for this.
Its good quality stuff right there. But yeah I am gonna hired my local Illustrator.the worst thing Is one take. And you can't change if you already got the result , because sometime I need to see the progress if already good for me or not. And thanks Alymew. For your knowledge now I know. And probably I don't want to use that web in the future. Subscribe.
It's so you have the character/subject on one layer, the background on another, and the artist signature. You can turn them on and off then save them. Can you imagine trying to put your character on a social media post. You don't want the original background, so you'll have to spend a lot of time? The term is more of a photoshop/graphic terminology. You can look it up if you need more clarification.
im confused about one thing. They have a prefered amount stated for example a artist has 12,000. But i wanted a multi character artwork so does that meant that i have to pay 12,000 x the amount of character i want as the full photo to not count it as a low ball for them?
Could you explain why you can't talk to the artist at all after they accept a request? Like I don't like being in the dark in regards to the progress/timeframe of my request's completion.
I believe I mentioned this in the video. You are getting less expensive art commissions due to 1) Client not bugging the artist 2) No revisions 3) There is a due date (both client and artist can see). If artist does not submit, you get your money back. 4) Art is for personal use and not for profit/merch. If you are worried about a request being late, then you better put in your commission 1.5 months ahead of time.😎
2 Questions (if you don’t mind answering them) 1. I’m guessing that whenever I place the order, whatever currency I initially use is converted to JPY right? 2. If I were a vtuber and bought art here, would I normally be allowed to use the art for things such as a profile picture, weekly schedule, and sharing it on Twitter? Or would that be something I have to ask the artist?
1. As mentioned you can only use your Credit Card. They will handle the currency conversion. So always just round up or over estimate. Google's conversion rates are completely different from bank/credit card conversions. 2. Just let the artist know what you are doing with the artwork if you want to be safe when submitting your request.
This seems pretty helpful and I might try this out definitely. Only question I have is, can you use a pre-paid debit card in order to pay for a commission on this website? The artist I'm looking to commission accepts VISA and Mastercard (I use the latter).
I want to commission someone to do NSFW art for me but I can't believe some of them are too expensive. One of the artist I see recommended to pay them around 250 dollars which is basically about 1/4 of my monthly salary. I wish I can hire someone who is affordable to make art for me.
A lot of these artists are really good quality and do this for a living. $250 for a work that is produced over 1-2 months is considered cheap if you break it down. Maybe look for artists in your local area? I'm not sure if you live in a country that has a lower living standard or if you're younger. I would never be able to buy anything if this was me during my teenage years. However, as an adult that saves and works this is doable every so often.

Thank you! This was a very helpful tutorial, and cleared up a lot of the ambiguity in Skeb's own guide.
Glad it helped!

Hey Aly thank you for this tutorial. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to commissions so this was very helpful.
Question: Is the Recommended amount usually the actual price or is it somewhere around that range like it could be higher or lower than the recommended amount depending on the art commission?
That's their base price and paying more is if you want to make sure they accept your commission / 2 characters or more / background detail etc
That came out great!
Thank you Ma55!

Twitter is allowed and you can even tag the artist!
Very helpful, thank you
Glad it was helpful!

Me too!
How do I add images to the request? (I'm using the web browser on mobile)
And do you get sketches back like say they make my character to skinny for example can I tell them to change it?

Honestly no idea. You would have to test it out yourself.
@@AlyMewGaming The website says it's advisable not to.
Do artists from the west get a good range of commissions?
Hey Aly,can you make a guide on how you get your anime Avatar to show up on webcam? Im thinking on trying this out.
No worries! I'm glad you were able to see my other video!
I tried putting my sisters card in the payment info because I put money in her card but it says that her card is declined. What do I do?
It's definitely picky about credit cards. I would say you'll have to find another credit card.
You look beautiful
Thank you 😊
