higher handicap should also be seen and the large majority of golfers. If you're including everyone, not just the ones with formal handicaps, the average golfer can't break 100.
@TXG Tour Experience Golf. Another great review guys. Gone are the days of me using player irons & maybe even game improvement so to speak. I played off 5-7 for along time but get out once a week maybe. I just want to make the game fun again. Im a solid 10-12 player but looking for ease of play. My swing speed is only 85-90 (due to back) & a short back swing. I hit the ball straight. I'm just thinking these might be the irons I'm looking for given how you mentioned better for slower swings. Cheers Guys.
Had the original Big Bertha Warbird driver as a hand me down from my dad for my first driver, gamed a Big Bertha Alpha 815 for a few years too, always a great name in the game.
Have two old sets of Big Bertha Irons, the original ones from mid end 90.s and the ones that came after before the X-series. And with the first serie of wedges that Roger Cleveland designed for Callaway. Those clubs and then my Ping Eye 2 and Ping G10.s and you have the clubs I like and play best with. With graphite shaft on the Big Bertah’s and steel on the Ping’s and me with slow swing speed. I alternate between them and change grips and man am I happy with all these clubs. Bogeyplayer and truly enjoy the rounds
Ok folks, I pulled trigger on the B21 driver and went to the course. My swing: 130+mph upward angle of attack; preferred straight ball player. Here is a summary of my notes/observations: 1. Setup: 9 degree head, set to 7 degrees with tour adapter. Shaft was Ventus Black 7X, tipped 3/4 inch. Grip: MCC+4 2. Vertical Flight: very high, but not ridiculously/moon high. I tee the ball very high and forward, and swing up, so that is a big contributor. 3. Spin: although not measured, definitely higher spin from observations; a few “risers” when not struck well. I might guess in the upper 2000 - low 3000 range. 4. Horizontal flight: this baffled me - nearly half the shots were hooks/duck hooks - half big fades/slices. I am a straight ball player. If you miss the face a little on the heel side, it will definitely fade/slice. If you miss the face on the toe side (even just a little) expect a big draw/ hook. Although the size and shape of the head is confidence inspiring, it left me with the feeling that I had to hit it on the screws for a neutral flight, or near it. Essentially, I could hit a big slice or fade just as easily as a hook, so I didn’t see the inherent draw bias to any practical extent. Overall, I didn’t see a lot of forgiveness, but the high swing speed likely exacerbated that. 5. Tweaks for next round: adding 5 grams lead tape just behind the jailbreak bars on the sole in the hopes of lowering spin; potentially trajectory to a lesser degree. Swapping the 5 gram stock rear weight with a 2 gram weight. Based on ballflights, I will experiment further with weight configurations. Distance: when struck well, a real bomber. The SS21 face “felt” and looked hot. A couple flew in the 360 range. The course was wet, so roll addition is not known, but likely not much due to high flight. Currently gaming the epic flash sub zero as my benchmark. We’ll see what happens with the B21, but I do have high hopes that perhaps through some tweaking and more hitting, this can be a better version of the sub zero. Hope this is helpful, thanks!
Definitely looks like a starter set or an upgrade for a high handicapper - will probably sell well with the marketing - loved the 1 hole game - more of this please!
His 75% 7 iron shot is my full swing 7 iron shot off a tee, lol. Right on 170 yards. I have a set of Wilson D7 irons I’m very happy with that are very similar. I think the loft is 28 degrees. I would be interested in those woods though, I have an M4 driver and fairway wood, and a Wilson D300 4 hybrid
I tried the driver last week and it was impressive: very easy to hit, very straight but not that long. For someone who just wants to hit fairways it is ideal
I played St andrews for the first time a few weeks ago. Had pretty much the same shot into 18. 75 yards left, flew a 60 deg in there got it to spin, 10/12 feet for birdie.... cue the 3 putt 🤦♂️
Ian, 7 iron: "I'm just pitching these and they're flying, like, 170...". Are Canadian yards shorter than normal yards? 😉 But, seriously, hitting shots so (relatively) slowly and still being consistent is a great skill - kudos!
Definitely great to see Matty on the "right" side of the clubs! I would love to see some content where you both have to play on the opposite side of the ball!
Great video guys. How about a match where Ian uses Matt's clubs and Matt uses Ian's, at St Andrews on the sim. Glad to see that Ian wasn't swinging at his normal speed and making the data not viable. Watching Matt swing right handed proves that he is human after all. Keep the videos coming
The new big bertha's are looking hot for someone like me that have a higher handicap. Matty, can I get some right-hand lessons, are you are massively better at it than me? Great video guys. I would like to see you guys take the other hand challenge to the course and play with the non dominant orientation for 9 holes.
@@krusher74 I fully understand the ramifications but it would just be fun to see what happens. Also, it would most likely point to getting properly fit.
I have been playing the Rogue driver set on 8* draw for the last 3 yrs. I thought it was time for a new driver, so i got the Big Bertha B21 because of them claiming to take the fade or slice out of your drives. I have the B21 set on 8* draw and still same as with the Rogue. Also, ball flight is alot higher with B21 using same shaft. Really too high for and distance for me. I hit the Rogue high but not as high as the B21 and i got more distance from the Rogue. I have played 5 rounds now with the B21, and also i have the project even blue stiff shaft in it, i can use same shaft for either club. So, B21 did not take my fade or slice out, and about the same distance as Rogue , but not quit.
I know this might be a dumb question guys but could you guys do a video and break down what adjustable sleeves actually do. I know they don’t change the actual loft but the lie angle but would love to see you guys break it down
Pretty much every driver I pick up sits open, I already have to work hard to square the face, which can lead to hooks when overdone. If the driver can help with face closure Im all for trying it out.
When you think how far forward the origional warbird and great big births were in the 1990's. I feel a bit sad they are now their 'B' brand mass produced supermarket offering. Nevermind, pays the Bill's for them.
Typical Callaway, I waited 3 weeks to get my Maverik irons and now they come up with these 😡☹️. Love your review guys! I’ve got myself a two way miss unfortunately. How does this compare to the regular Maverik irons? This is gonna be a quite expensive starter set😂
Do you think this type of driver would help someone with not enough back spin on their driver? I switched from fade to draw and have seen my backspin drop to average 1200rpm.
i am a senior golfer at age 71.All know we loose distance at this @t particular flight is not high and my club speed is between 70 to 80 m/h. i am able to fade and draw on demand My question if a buy a Callaway B 21 senior shat do you thing i will able to high my golf ball and gain distance first.? and second what longer the shaft i must put i am 5 feet 8 inches ?
Anyone have recommendations for a player that hits up and across the ball for driver? I have a subtle draw on a good day and have a beautiful hook on a bad day (beautiful because... I mean... I’m playing golf, so... it ain’t that bad 😄).
Tbh I genuinely don’t think so, there isn’t much technology difference other than the weights in my opinion just learn how to hit your new set and don’t even worry about this new silo that’s came out, either way you’d have to learn how to hit each set to fit your style
Callaway running out of design aesthetics? Looks remarkably like the FTi-z and the Fusion all under the Big Bertha packaging! Yes it’ll have different tech but they also did it a few years ado with a driver that looked remarkably like the Hawk Eye from the sole plate!
Warbird wasn't the original. The original was just called Big Bertha. Then they came out with Great Big Bertha. I think Warbird came along in the mid to late 90's, a few generations later.
I think the warbird was pre gbb. I had the original and upgraded to the Warbird which I still have. The gbb was one of the first titanium drivers while the warbird was still stainless steel.
Is d-plane not important anymore? They just crank down the lofts with the same numbers on the bottom, stick a "gap" or "A" wedge in there and tell us its increased distance when it isn't. Its the only reason I'm playing irons that are 10 years
You should have someone that slices with a slower swing speed. This way the avarice golfer would get more feedback. You guys just hit the ball too straight
Idk if it would be too much work but sounds cool to calculate Matt's Right-handed handicap and have him test clubs suited to that range
Michael Newton’s test with the 9 degree was shocking. Crazy long and low spin with just a stiff shaft.
I love that you are testing gear made for higher handicap players.

wasn't expecting to see the little match at the end. that was cool. thanks, guys!!
Watching that was a lot of fun. Picked up an order at your new digs in Mississauga, the building area is a recipe for happy building. Nicely done!

I can finally relate to Matt. A right handed Matt series would definitely capture many readers attention.

Their timing is impeccable. Tons of newbies out there these days thanks to RoRo.
Just on looks alone I love the dark navy blue in the woods. Beautiful clubs

Jeez.. Matt plays right handed better than most right handed players🤦♂️😂
Yep I’m left handed however my grandpa taught me how to play right handed
@Tucson Jim I bat left handed in Baseball, throw right handed and golf right handed...don't ask me to golf left handed. I can't get off the tee box
Would love to see an episode where you fit Matt's right handed swing to a full set! How good can you make him? ;)
Great review! Thanks for sharing the info. Do you plan on doing a review of the Big Bertha Reva Women's clubs that were just released?
I played St andrews for the first time a few weeks ago. Had pretty much the same shot into 18. 75 yards left, flew a 60 deg in there got it to spin, 10/12 feet for birdie.... cue the 3 putt 🤦♂️
Played Old 1 or 2 times a week for 15 summers. The shot of choice if you land on the road is a chipped 7-iron.
Going to have my Dad check these out. His speed has dropped and he’s lost distance. Hopefully this would be a perfect fit for him.

Great job again lads. Club isn’t for me but watchable vid again and love the one hole comp
The only 3Wood that I have ever been able to hit with confidence was a BB Warbird, it would be so funny to go back to BB as a not so Young Buck👍
Would love to see you guys take a look at the sub70 699 irons.
The new big bertha's are looking hot for someone like me that have a higher handicap.

Oh- and I understand and appreciate the need to slow down when testing high-handicap gear, but let's see what happens when you put the beans to it!
a higher than expected swing speed with just flex the shaft and end up with loss of accuracy
@@krusher74 I fully understand the ramifications but it would just be fun to see what happens. Also, it would most likely point to getting properly fit.

Crazy seeing Matty as a righty , but awesome little challenge. You DEF would have made that 22' uphill! 🤣
Hey guys does the BB have flash face and jailbreak?
Both
I think they should revisit these woods but with a custom fit shaft instead of the stock offerings
Love to see 'Ronnie' try this in comparison to his XXIO ??? As he has a lower swing speed and you guys know both his swing and shot shape.
Ok I like this one hole test even better than the PB one. Genius 😂
Ian, the swing is looking great!
I know this might be a dumb question guys but could you guys do a video and break down what adjustable sleeves actually do. I know they don’t change the actual loft but the lie angle but would love to see you guys break it down
Great video Matt should try pitching one handed left hand on club, thats my way left handed play golf right handed. lol.
Pretty much every driver I pick up sits open, I already have to work hard to square the face, which can lead to hooks when overdone. If the driver can help with face closure Im all for trying it out.
Ian's subconscious competitiveness rises to the surface again 😂 well played Matty for getting the 4 👍you'd have never missed that putt😉
Where is the JPX 921 review =D Im dying to see it, especially the Forged vs the new P770s
how can you expect low spin with that driver based on the strike location?
Thinking you should consider Matt testing all the super game improvement irons from his right side, seems more appropriate for us beginning golfers
Would love to see the righty lefty match outdoors and see how the putting goes
When you think how far forward the origional warbird and great big births were in the 1990's. I feel a bit sad they are now their 'B' brand mass produced supermarket offering. Nevermind, pays the Bill's for them.
Hey guys. Was wondering if u could recommend the best draw drivers available for mid speed swing golfers playing off high single handicaps?
Typical Callaway, I waited 3 weeks to get my Maverik irons and now they come up with these 😡☹️. Love your review guys! I’ve got myself a two way miss unfortunately. How does this compare to the regular Maverik irons? This is gonna be a quite expensive starter set😂
Hey guys would you recommend these clubs ..im 22 handicap..left handed with bit of a slice on the driver..driver swing speed is roughly 94-95
MAX CT? Does that CT stand for C-Taper?
It stands for characteristic time, it’s a measurement of the time the ball and club face spend in contact in microseconds.
@@ianfrasergolf Awesome, thanks Ian
What’s the difference between this and the ‘standard’ Max 80 shaft, launch and spin wise - I’m guessing not a lot?
Do you think this type of driver would help someone with not enough back spin on their driver? I switched from fade to draw and have seen my backspin drop to average 1200rpm.
These are much more fun with a hole match at the end, please put one at the end of every club test
video.
What brand is that vest? Looks sweet! 👍
loving the vest Ian, is that GG ?
Would be interesting to see Ian dial in an average swing speed, and compare this to say the Mavrik in driver, 3w and hybrid.
Marketing Low spin driver for low swing speed / medium swing golfer .. should test it senior or /15+ handicap .. just my 2cents
i am a senior golfer at age 71.All know we loose distance at this @t particular flight is not high and my club speed is between 70 to 80 m/h. i am able to fade and draw on demand

Anyone have recommendations for a player that hits up and across the ball for driver? I have a subtle draw on a good day and have a beautiful hook on a bad day (beautiful because... I mean... I’m playing golf, so... it ain’t that bad 😄).
Could also be great for junior golfers.
try putting the Ventus Black in it and see how that goes
Big Bertha Looking THICC
righty VS lefty is a no brainer!
Ian: during the test, did you hit the clubs with your normal swing and what numbers do you think that would produce?
He was dialing down speed quite a bit and trying to play a fade type swing to see how the clubs would affect the flight
for reel though me with this driver its going 3 fairways over instead of 2
God you guys are always on it with the new stuff I wanna see 😅
Ians swinging slow and getting 108mph my fastest is 90 mph! Its hard for us gauge a club for our club speeds against yours.
The Warbird was not the original Big Bertha. I had the original and sold it in order to upgrade to the Warbird (which I still have).
Literally just got fit for Mavrik Irons, 3-wood and Hybrid. Is there much difference?
Tbh I genuinely don’t think so, there isn’t much technology difference other than the weights in my opinion just learn how to hit your new set and don’t even worry about this new silo that’s came out, either way you’d have to learn how to hit each set to fit your style

Video idea: Matt with Ian’s bag vs Ian with Matt’s bag. Heads up, no shots given. Course vlog or sim, doesn’t matter
How did the RCH shaft feel?
Super soft

Definitely need Matt righty vs Ian lefty

I’m playing a driver that came out before Big Bertha drivers were a thing...😳
Maverick vs big Bertha?
Funny thing is his Right handed swing looks better than mine🤔

So what you’re saying is I need to start playing the opposite way 😂
buenas la verdad muy bueno video me encanto necesito el nuevo video me voy les dejo kisses muchas gracias

Except for the ww2 gun...
I'm not that old...
How about throw your stock shaft in that thing and see what it does boys.
You should have someone that slices with a slower swing speed. This way the avarice golfer would get more feedback. You guys just hit the ball too straight
I use the BB fusion on occasion. Its a cheater club. So easy to keep in play.
