The mouse definitely took the experience to the next level allowing a more smoother interaction with the in dash controls and switches. I play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on Xbox Series X I started with a keyboard and mouse and began to feel a more improved experience. Then I invested in flight joysticks and without a doubt my best purchase. I don't think it's bad to play on Xbox, you just need the components and have a more serious attitude within the game to make it more realistic, but that depends on each person. We will see what happens in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

I'm a real life commercial pilot, and I think you can totally do some serious flying on the Xbox. I have a honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant that works super well on my Xbox, and I enjoy flying everything from the C172 to the PMDG 737. I think it's important to say Flight Sim is still a toddler on Xbox it will improve alot in many ways over the next few years. Plus you got alot of keen pilots like myself he used to have the hole PC rig setup in my early 20s but now have kids running around so it's much more conveniant to use a Xbox that's tucked away. Comfort and never needing to upgrade the system for good perfomance is another huge plus.

If you just take money in consideration, the xbox is unbeatable and for me the best option. So I totally disagree with this video! True there are some things you missing out on and some features are totally awesome, but is it worth the extra money, or is that what you get on xbox enough for you?! So it totally depends on what each individual wants and not what you think!

Listening to truly and deeply understand what someone is trying to convey to us is almost always more valuable than simply listening to refute. I’m a former military flier and also have thousands of hours of experience flying the Beechcraft F33A Bonanza that I owned for 15+ years. I also am currently flying MSFS 2020 on an Xbox Series S. As you correctly pointed out, the Xbox platform provides an incredible amount of value and fun for the dollar. I found Squirrel’s observations to be spot-on. For me, the hardware and aircraft choices have become far too limiting in my sim flying. So, I’m currently in the process of specing and buying a high-end gaming PC so that my sim flying can progress beyond the limitations he outlined. If you’re happy, stick with your Xbox. However, criticizing the insights he shared is not exactly the best way to learn nor to show appreciation for the creator’s attempts to add insights and value to the flight sim community.
      Well done, Squirrel! 🐿️

So, many of your comments are valid if your intent is to be a really serious simulator user with an intent for it to help with real world flying. However, not everyone is in that place.
The situation with hardware controllers is getting much better on Xbox with Honeycomb, Turtlebeach, and Thrustmaster all having yokes, pedals, and throttle quadrants available.
For me personally, I wanted to build a specific PC for MSFS2020 but couldn’t get the hardware when the 3xxx series cards launched and my current PC wont run the s/w. With the global financial situation (here in the UK we are currently experiencing $10 per gallon in car fuel, utility costs are horrendous) and specifically for me, I cannot justify the costs for a new PC capable of running MSFS at the quality the Xbox can produce. So for me the choice is £450 Xbox series X and actually get to sim or just don’t sim. Costs are still IMO ridiculous for PC parts and this makes it prohibitive.
While I agree that the VATSIM, and PC specific add-ons are nice to have, I also know that developers are seeing that the Xbox market is also important so they are working hard to make the aircraft work on Xbox as well. Just recently some of the aircraft we have seen on Xbox are more or less the same as the PC aversion. Some things will likely never happen (persistence for example, where plane states are saved between flights to simulate real life) but it is still heading in the right direction.

While I agree that for hard-core simmers a PC is definitely the go to route you cannot deny that MSFS2020 Xbox is improving especially with the recent announcement that WASM indeed despite it being pushed to SU11 is coming, as they said it works well it is just slightly clunky. A huge advantage for the Xbox S/X is price and convenience, not everyone is as fortunate as you to be able to afford a PC or even save up for it, we are all different and we all have different financial situations, there is many people who say "Just buy a PC" as if it was that simple to fork up the money for it. The Xbox delivers an okay experience for a good price and developers know that that is an attractive deal to those who are casual or in a not so great financial situation.
At the end of the day if you put enough effort and have enough passion towards flight-simming it should not matter, you will buy what you are happy with. There is no point in buying an expensive machine if you aren't going to be happy with it.

The fact that the A2A Comanche and PMDG 737 both work flawlessly on Xbox shows that this video was wrong about software limitations. Bottom line is that Xbox offers 90% of what PC does for a fraction of the price. And for having flown on PC for years, I’m sick of the constant updates/tinkering required. You always end up spending more time debugging the damn thing than flying. And it WILL be an endless money pit and constant frustration. Hey mates, I found the problem, why my Series X crashes on 3rd party addon airports and city scenery! I think it is the ground texture - these addons use a ground texture, when Bing is enabled, the Series X gets the streaming info from Bing from the ground plus the extra info from the 3rd party addon. Turn off Bing before starting from a 3rd party addon in the main menu, after starting from the airport, turn on Bing from pause menu…

I really haven't had many issues at all on Xbox Series X. Except ONE aggravating issue. I purchased this back in April 2022...it was beautiful, smooth. I think World Update 9(?) was released just days after I bought it and that was a compete mess, totally deflating since I JUST bought this! Quite a few CTDs, freezing up. HOWEVER updates since that mess, no major issues. The 40th anniversary update..eh..few planes didn't work whatsoever, A310 was one of them...and a real bummer. (NO control over throttle), DC-3 was also unusable. Everything else was fine though. That all seemed to be fixed an update later. Since then, it's been relatively ok. Yeah, I get an occational CTD from time to time out of nowhere, and it stinks, I'd say 97--98% of the time - for me, this is working flawlessly on my Series X.

I am so pleased to see this. I have endeavoured for many years to have people understand that this is a simulator, not a game. Rather I see it as a simulator with a symbiotic game element. Unfortunately Microsoft market it as a game (for business reasons) and Asobo uses a game engine (which is necessary for our enjoyment and the mechanics of the simulation), however too many people encourage and reinforce the perception that it's a game, and I argue that unless we simmers quit this attitude then we are more likely to get more of a game than a flight simulation (in future versions as well). The object of a flight simulation should be "flight replication", not 'playing' a game, otherwise if gaming was the focus then there are plenty of games people can spend their time and money on. Since beginning flight simming in 1973 I have invested AU$75,000 in the genre (software, hardware etcetera) no-one spends that kind of money on a game. I take flight simulation seriously, and Microsoft needs to change their marketing strategies just a little bit, and push the reality aspect of simulation - and tone down the 'game' aspect. I don't believe they will lose financially if they have a smart writer of blurbs and 'package' information.
XBox for gamers and PC for flight replicators. Microsoft and Asobo need to run both but there should be a clear demarcation in their minds and the minds of people who use the product(s).

I think the Xbox X is equivalent to a RTX 3060 which i had in my PC, costing 2K. I've upgraded. Had superb fun and time on the Xbox and completely adequate for anyone starting off on this excellent flight sim. Superb for a console to deliver such fantastic graphics on a flight sim.

Interesting and I agree that Xbox is limited, although it is fun if you wanna just have a casual flight after a stressful day, set autopilot and watch then drop to sleep. But I am more of what you're promoting, I do this with SIM racing games like F1, although I don't have a steering wheel yet due to placement of item in the room, I have the settings as realistic as possible to give that real life vibe of what it's like to be as a real life F1 racecar driver, I want to do the same with Flight Sim, a great experience, great fun and relaxing too. But of course, if you're like me and wanna chill then stick on Series X, nothing wrong with that. Both sides have their pros to this, just depends on the persons perspective.

I think you are totally missing the budget differences and not everyone needing things to be the best. For 230€ you can buy an Xboxseries S and it looks really good.
There is something like a good price experience ratio that you ignore.
So people with a low budget, who do not have a 4K screen and might be a bit older(harder to see the difference between 4K and Full HD) the xbox series S experience + game + controller(a HOTAS One) is a 400€ in total dream to experience. Compare that to 'any' Flight Simulator in 2018 on the best PC possible and best controls and those in 2018 would gladly switch with the budget player right now.
So if you have the money and you want the best version possible, sure, you go all out on your PC. But you are making the differences sound way bigger than they are and totally downplaying the price differences for budget limited people.

So playing on an Xbox (Series X for me, btw but others may have the Series S) usually will suffice.
I have a great collection of aircraft, and it's pretty common knowledge that PC games always look better because of the ability to upgrade components, graphic cards, xtra content, etc, I like many people are content enough with an Xbox.
