Your video inspired me to have a go at this and 3 days in I just have to fit the ply board front to my 6ft Media wall
    65” 8k Qled Samsung TV ,50 “ Led fire
    Great video
To anyone thinking they can’t do this
A stud finder ,a decent Mitre saw ,jigsaw

Thanks again for giving me the inspiration to attempt this
I’m so happy with the results

Thanks for sharing, it looks great! I just did my first shiplap project in a bathroom. I think it looks a little cleaner if you start at the bottom and nail through the tongue which is then hidden by the groove on the next board above. No exposed nail holes them to fill in!

We plan on doing something similar and already have the fireplace insert. However one thing to note is when running the electric fireplace it gets fairly warm on the top. We plan on putting cement board between the top of the fireplace insert and the wood to avoid any potential hazards! This looks great!

@@TheModernMann just wanted to say that my fireplace build came out beautifully thanks to you ( I wish I could send you pix) My outside frame was great and I assembled my inside frame first in place using very good clamps to see everything in place and then as you suggested reassembled it and attached it while laying it on the floor. Everything came out great re-attaching it to the main frame and then adding all the shiplap. The only difference was the fireplace I used, was an electric one that I inserted about 14 inches from the floor.
After completing the job and as I said it came out very nice and complete, I do have a strange question, once the shiplap and trim are all nailed in and everything is painted, what happens if access is needed to the plug or if you need to change the TV or anything like that, isn't it kind of impossible since everything is closed off?
In my case the people I built this for didn't have an outlet inside the area of this build but just outside the box on both sides, so we had a surge protector put inside the built box on the wall to power the TV & Fireplace and run the cord out of a small hole on the side and bottom of the shiplap, but either way, how can access be gained if needed without taking apart the wall?
I thought about this afterwards when I was back home and it filled me with anxiety and nervousness, so I am wondering when my customers will call me asking this question, especially when they need to paint it and may want or need to remove the TV temporarily to do so.
Sorry for the long message but was wondering if you thought about that as well.
Thanks for your input, and if you would like to see pix of my build just let me know.
      Thanks again.
      D.

Wrought iron is a good colour. Shiplap is good if a electric fireplace is installed. The fireplace is shallow and less heat. Great to keep on flame continuously without the heat.

This was fun to watch and it turned out great! The only tip would be - if you wish to take it - is the camera was moving so much, at one point I just had to take a break. Just a bit more stillness would be perfect. Beautiful fireplace!

Very cool video and great work! I am very impressed! I am going to hire a carpenter to do this for me. I have an important question-I am kind of paranoid about fire prevention-in other words, I constantly unplug my electric heater whenever I turn it off. So when I get one of these, can you unplug the fireplace whenever you don’t use it? It looks like you can pop the fireplace out easily…

Beautiful build! One issue I have with the tv/fireplace combo is that the tv is often too high for comfortable viewing. It's something I take note of because I'm a spine doctor. If you start getting headaches or a sore neck or just an uncomfortable feeling after a period of watching that tv, it's because the height of it is forcing you to arch your neck too much. The solution is to lower your tv. For my house, the center height of the tv's is less than 2 feet above eye level (while sitting). Unfortunately, that can mess with design plans when you have a tall fireplace below the tv.

    • @TheModernMann
      @TheModernMann  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah that’s what a few people have commented on however, we haven’t had any problems! We have a reclining couch so it works really nicely! We can recline to the perfect amount while we are watching a movie and our neck doesn’t have to arch! But I’m the future if I ever mount a tv in another house, that’s something I’ll consider!
