Our room is nearing completion and I knew we needed a focal point in the room. As beautiful as our accent wall is, we needed a true statement piece and I feel like this DIY fireplace build most definitely delivered that. #trustthevision

Forget the beautiful and outstanding job on building your mantel, but let's talk about everything else that you two did right. First off and very important, you spoke clearly and explained each step as you went along. I really did appreciate the fact that you did not always tighten your screws until it was absolutely needed, and then you (Matt) explained the reason why. Ms. Brittany, you were most articulate in your explanation of 'everything'. Again, other than the incredible work and the articulation, most importantly, the safety involved. You both used safety goggles, gloves, and proper ventilation (while using the spray gun) where needed. As a Safety Professional, there's nothing more pleasing than to see a DIY,'er put safety at the forefront of their project. Although you did not mention gloves, glasses, etc., it was obvious that your safety meant more to you than anything.
This is the 'BEST' choreographed instructional video that I (personally) have every watched and one in which I sincerely appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you for the video.

good job guys you killed it or should I say overkilled it. I build many of these here in Texas. here's an idea that really sets your fireplace off and gives it an even more authentic fireplace feel. Super easy and simple. create a ground hearth in front of your fireplace spanning entire width. Anywhere from 6 in to 10 in wide. Find a nearby stone company and let them cut you a 2 inch thick slab of Rock and butt it against your fireplace. You'll be amazed how it pops. Do it all the time. Just thought I would share that. great jobs keep it up
Thank you. I don’t prefer a hearth and it wouldn’t necessarily go with my shiplap fireplace but maybe in a clients home. I’ve done a ton more fireplaces since this one but thanks for the info.
