- TRENDMASTERS 1998 War Planets TV Commercial featuring the different Planets VS The Beast Planet. This is a rarely seen TV Spot still exciting to see today. This is taken from one of the master tapes I own, so the quality should be awesome. Enjoy.

I think I still have my Planet Bone and Beast Planet toys in storage somewhere. I used to love these things. Also had the computer game, which I played religiously.
I still have mine. I would have thrown them away years ago but found a big ass spider inside and never went to look for them ever again. lol

I used to have planet ice, water, and tek. I had one of rock's moons too. These were awesome
I still have my war planets... boxed away, havent touched it in like 15years. Planet Bone, Tek, Fire, Ice, Rock, Repitzar, Sand, Water, Remora and Beast planet. Such amazing times

this reminds me a lot of games workshop warhammer 40k and WHfantasy, and i loved the shadow raider series.
My dad worked with the talented designers in St. Louis during the 90's. I can remember many Saturdays spent watching their productions and playing in the toy storage room. This brings back a lot of nostalgia.

Honestly, this commercial is better than the Star Wars Episode 7 trailer. Ever since I saw this commercial when I was a teen I ALWAYS said WAR PLANETS! Whoever marketed this commercial was a freakin genius!!!
The one thing I remember about War Planets is the cheap plastic glue and paint smell. I would sit there for hours as a child getting high off the smell and letting my imagination run wild.

I'm so done cause I kid you not (pun intended) I too would get high from the smell and possibly physical contact. I miss the 90's so much, do you have a time machine by any chance...I want to relive the 90's all over again and again and again....loop it from 1990-1999.
The only toy I had from this line was Beast Tank Scorpizoid, one of my all time favorite toys! So I happy I finally remembered the toyline it was from XD

@@MaharlikaAWA No, because in Canada, where this cartoon (and "Beast Wars," which was called "Beasties," there) were made, they don't psychotically glorify war in kids' shows.

I still yell out WAR PLANETS! randomly to this day since seeing this commercial when i was a teenager. I say WAR PLANETS! when taking a shower and stuff. I thought this idea was such a cool concept for toys and I am suprised it did not stay popular long and why the cartoon was not popular. I never saw it, its like TV channels never had it on at a time people are watching. The idea of collecting planets and armies is so badass. But I am sure liberals didnt like the name WAR PLANETS and maybe thats one reason they went out of style.

I just picked up a tote full of these. Lucky find. Very cool toys. Its a shame that this did not take off.
I still have all but one of the planets. the green one, the ice one, the rock one and the big black one. these toys were the shit!
I have half of the toys in the toy line I got for only £20.99!!!! I am still looking for the ice planet, the green planet and to beast planet!!!

I had Rock Planet. Those things took a beating and had great detail.

Good god these toys were so fucking hard to find. Every year during Christmas I would ask for these and could never ever find them. Eventually I just gave up.
They were primarily test marketed in Canada, because they were based on a Canadian TV show. Didn't do well so the entire line was dropped. Sad, because Trendmasters had spent a solid 4 yrs developing these planets and the best ones are the ones that never came out period, like Planet Octizoid, Planet Jungle, The Prison Planet and Super Planet Repitar, to name a few. I have prototypes of Octizoid and Jungle, which you can see if you Google "War Planets Prototypes".
TRENDMASTERS Well I was in Canada and they were still hard to find. And I loved the show too. Really hated how it ended on a cliffhanger too. The only one I think that I ever saw on sale was Planet Ice, but they were gone the next day. Funny that I saw more of the commercials than the product.
TRENDMASTERS At least the Super Beast Planet was released, though I gather it's extremely rare, as images of it are pretty much only found through eBay on the rare occasions it turns up there. It's a pity the line flopped, since it was a novel concept and the show was great.
It's the Beast Planet in silver with black paint sprayed in a gradient pattern around the front and mouth.

I have 2 Beast Planets, and a small blue one and a black one. They are awesome!!
I loved these stupid, stupid things. They were so pointless and yet so awesome.
These toys were so goddamn hard to find. I went through at least 20 toy stores and could never find them.
That's because they were only test marketed in Canada and even then hard to find. After a year, that was it. Pulled off the shelves... eBay is the best place now.
If the show had gone one, I wonder how they'd have incorporated the bone planet tentacles.
I came back for more because I got so pumped up. Just watching this again totally pumped me up right now and I want to freaking go all out war right now! AAAA!! This is so awesome it sucks these toys didnt last long! I bet they were expensive! I could not buy them. WAR PLANETS!!!!
They need to make a movie about this. Its like every single planet is its own Deathstar!! Like tons of Deathstars fighting each other with crazy weapons!! I do not like the cartoon Shadow Raiders because it has a dumb name and is not called WAR PLANETS!! Also I hate CGI animation shows, I prefer old cartoons with drawings.
Was there another commercial for WAR PLANETS!! or was this the only one? For some reason I remember seeing a commercial showing bright green planets connected together around a dark planet.

It's kinda ironic how the toy commercial glorifies wars and conflict while the cartoon portrays it more serious and shows that wars are not fun and games.
Here is an interesting thing to think about. What if War Planets had an RTS Game with a story campaign that was on par with Warcraft 3.
I'm not into Warcraft 3 number 1. Number 2, you are judging a toy company's desire to advertise and sell their toys for glorifying war with Micro Playsets?? And at point of interest, here's a fun fact: In the UK no toys are allowed to be advertised with 'War' in the title. And the show was also much longer then a 1 minute TV commercial, so the Trendmasters had to condense a lot of information into a really tight time slot to sell their toy line.
I was one of the kids in that commercial, just only with my hands though! So glad to see this somewhere. You have any in depth information behind the making of the toys and all that? I’m wanting to do a bit of a documentary on these first wave of toys and what happened. Thanks!

I think part of what ruined this series (and therefore the cartoon) would be that fact that it was lacking a game. The advertisement (and small figures) lends itself to a strategy game...that never happened.
Someone could relaunch this with a game manual (and perhaps updated molds, and/or the ability to paint them, and/or spring power and the like) and I think it could work.

No way! Kids want to platy WAR!!! WAR PLANETS! Not some boring game with a dice you throw and cards to look at. I mean you COULD make a game, but dude people want ALL OUT WAR!! As a kid I played with toys and always had giant wars. I had no interest in GI Joe games or Heman games I wanted to just have huge fights. This toy looked so cool when i saw this commercial it has made a huge impact on me but I never got to buy any.
They could make a game but kids dont want to paint stuff. thats what nerdy older guys do who live in comic book shops.
Hmm...while I understand what you're saying (I loved to do similar massive wars as a kid), most toys/games (and the companies) that went with this method seem to have a small lifespan. Fistful of Aliens, War Planets, etc.
Meanwhile, Lego and GW survive. They must have done something right.

Mythology Squirrel Painting a picture or water colors is not the same as action figures. Usually older people like teenagers or whatever can paint action figures and build models. Most kids who are into crazy action stuff want to just pretend to fight things and have huge battles. Things have small lifespans bc the toy makers have to deal with when a cartoon show is on and if it gets cancelled or not. Exosquad comes to mind. One of the best cartoons ever made was on at odd times no one was home from school yet or even knew what it was. So the toys did not sell easy and the show got cancelled.
Mythology Squirrel Whilst you could have a campaign mode that focussed on the storyline, multiplayer I think would have to focus on the four planets fighting each other, raiding for resources etc. You could tie in the Beast Planet as an unlockable event by players or some kind of Holiday Event. Something along the lines of Planetside 2 might be good.
Wasn't there some sort of game? I remember the planets used to come with cards that said how strong each of their units were. Don't remember too well I was about 7 or 8
who now owns the rights to War Planets since trendmasters is now defunct?
Well Jakks Pacific had originally purchased all the remaining licenses, so not sure if that included War Planets or not??
i hope they have the rights. i would love to see a revival.

and with the advancements in toy design with CAD we could see some truly excellent sculpts on these minis.
I actually wish there was a Fully fledged tabletop war game like 40K or hordes and war machines based on this franchise.
