I can't believe you pulled out this obscure cartoon Shadow Raiders right from the golden era of Mainframe Entertainment 3D animated shows, alongside Reboot and Beast Wars. Kudos for spreading awarness to this classic. =)

Man, this is a blast from my childhood.
As someone who writes Sci-fi, I am very tempted to make a one off reference the Templin Institute as a shadowy group of scholars who never remove their gas masks. 🤣😅
They just appear, often in places containing sensitive data or classified projects, walk around like they own the place while taking notes. By the time security forces arrive, they have already mysteriously vanished.

It's interesting how each world seemed to specialize in a different type of combat vehicle. Light fighters for Fire, massive superweapon battlemoons for Rock, subterfuge like poisons for Bone and ground forces like freezing tanks for Ice 🤔
As mentioned both here (with the shout out to Ice's fightercraft) and in the previous video (where Rock's air and ground forces were referenced) each planet had a complete military, and for all the praise Templin heaps on this ship, it wasn't _that_ much better than its contemporaries in the service of the other planets.
"It's interesting how each world seemed to specialize in a different type of combat vehicle" Not really... Except Rock naturally preferring a heavier and bigger machinery and firepower, with most of their stuff designed to be more heavy and immovable than fast, light and versatile, others do not seem to be that much different from each other. They all have a relatively decent, equal fleets. If anything, if one can be chosen, Ice seems to be most versatile and effective. "Light fighters for Fire" Actually, it can be said about Ice just as well. If not more... Of the four, Ice's fighters are the most fitting and well-designed for the task and for the title of "light fighters" (rivaled only by Beast fighters) and are, in the very least, equal to Fire's. If anything, Fire might be inferior because its design is kinda clumsy and not the best for aircraft and might be a flaw.
I loved this show as a kid, watched it not so long ago and I still enjoyed it. Glad to see it getting some love.
I loved War Planets so much. I wish it had expanded into a larger franchise.
I used to love this 3D cartoon TV show. We need THIS kinda Sat Morning Cartoons back. Those was the good ole days. Was trying to remember where knew this from. Thought almost no else remembered. We should see all the others too. Including the ground forces an cultures. An maybe depiction of things like the war an battles against the Beast planet an it's forces

The design of this ship sure is familliar, reminds me of a ship use by some bounty hunter in a galaxy far far away.

This is from an era of animation that I missed completely- The mid- to- late 1990s. It is so odd, seeing these things that I never knew existed from those days. Knowing that they had merit.
that we didn't get the final third season of shadow raiders is such a bummer. the season 2 ending worked, but you can tell they had a third season planned. ah well, still an awesome show.

For those who Shadow Raiders is your jam, Mainframe made some tech specs on the fighters and characters as screensavers back in the late 90's/ early 00's. I doubt the website is still upm but it shouldn't take too much digging to find a mirror site or a fan-wiki with these pages.

I wonder if this will their be videos going into the need for resources and even if it could use similar series that have plant eaters of Their Own like Unicron from Transformers and Galactus of Marvel with other that most don't normally about.

GREAT fucking show. And I always preferred the "Shadow Raiders" title to "War Planets". War was just too on the nose and generic, even if that's what the toy line was. Shadow gave indication to the resource wars themselves, in addition to the literal raids of the shadow/void creatures of The Beast.

I loved this show
Since they used resources used by their planet, now gone, this means they are now worth so much more, a loss of one has increased to new hights. Even if they find a new world that their people can live on the chances of it being able to create the same quality ships will be even harder.
it also makes each use of the fighters that much more desperate.. they have no new sources for fuel and ammo, or for the materials to make replacement parts. so every sortie would reduce their stockpiles further, a few steps closer to not being able to deploy their fighters at all, with them either having to become just refugees with nothing to contribute, or hangers on forced to fly and fight with the fighters built by the other worlds.
@@glitterboy2098 Well, they can fly others' ships just as well... Pyrus was quite good flying an Ice's fighter, so... it's not much of a problem.

Mainframe was doing wonderful work at the time. Just don't look at where they are now; it's a sad.
I think the last time I heard the word Inferno fighter was some 30 years ago when I was very young. IIRC one of the plot points in the series was that Planet Bone betrayed the alliance by not joining the battle against the Beast World and ran away with their battle moons. That might be very inaccurate as I was 4 at the time. 😅
It's almost correct. They ran off with the Battle Moons in another episode lol. During the siege in planet Remora, Femur (Bone) ran away due to panic, but Prince Pyrus (Fire) was like "come on, dude. Do it for me, we were pals" and Femur had a change of heart, greatly favouring the odds of victory.
As memory serves, the leader of Bone was skeevy and self-serving, but he never betrayed the alliance, and only Rock had battle moons besides.
Imagine how it would be if this show was produced today and with the same quality of modern CGI TV shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels or The Bad Batch.
Now I'm waiting for you to do someone from Dan Dare or something as this was a pleasant surprise to see

If only the raiders plaguing planet fire had kept to the Higher Ground......
I never saw the Inferno fighter being used in a ground attack usage. In my mind I'm imagining that because somehow transform or restructure its engines to be more of a hovercraft type of light tank, like comparing a scorpion tank to a panzer tank. Meaning it's faster to maneuver around enemies and get a prominent firing position although the armament is probably not that strong so it probably needs multiple shots. And in this case the panzer would probably be the multifunctional ground assault tanks of planet rock. Once again this is just making me mad that we don't see more units from Planet Bone. But now I'm wishing we had some more for Planet Fire as well since at least with Rock and Ice we've seen their tanks, fighters, the battle moons and their frigates. But with Bone and Fire we've mostly just seen their fighters and capital ships 🤔. And Planet Sand is just as bad. Especially considering that they don't even have space fighting capability, the other planets of the cluster would probably have to give them the technology to make themselves space capable. But having said that they might not even accept it because of the two distinct humanoids that live on the planet - the sand people likely the true or original beings evolved on the planet and then the sun people which might be the result of whoever the builders of these artificial planets designed to be human or a variation thereof. On top of that the sand people seem to be mostly pacifist although they have great psychic abilities. Which is another reason why they might not even want spacefaring ability and would be content to either meditate an astral project their way across the stars or to let one of the other space flight capable planets of the cluster give them a ride 🤨. Although I think Planet Rock's fighters function more as landing craft rather than Dog Fighter units and were sturdy and capable of dropping on any planet in the cluster - Fire, Ice and Fire (RIP).
I hope you all dig into Masters of the Universe or She-Ra & the Princesses of power sometime in the future that could be a interesting one to.

Guys!! Templin Institute!!! Anyone!!! I need you help!!! I'm having visions of an alternate world, very similar to Shadow Raiders, but not exactly it. I'm not sure if I'm suffering an extreme case of the Mandela Effect or is just my imagination. I don't remember most of the details, not even character designs that much or if it was a series or a movie. I think it was a CGI series. But I do remember this scene, of a magma planet (I think) been attacked by some sort of devouring weapon, with claws. But the planet escapes by the last minute, thanks to the use of World Engines (I think....I do remember that it moved). But the planet took heavy damage, it looks like a husk of it's former self. And is left drifting through space. At the begining I though it was images of the destruction of Planet Fire on Shadow Raiders....but it doesn't fit!!! Planet Fire tried to ram the Beast and was devoured at the end!!! Please help meeeee!!!! I must know the truth!!!

Why is Shadow Raiders being renamed War Planet? Copyright issues?
From what I read, children's shows in Canada can't have the word "war" in the title. Since the animated series was produced in Canada, the title had to be changed to Shadow Raiders.
@@TheVeritas1 Yeah, same reason _Beast Wars_ was branded _Beasties_ in Canada. _Shadow Raiders_ is a better title for the show, anyway.
