    I didn't do much research before coming to the Philippines, and for the most part it worked out okay! There were a few times this lack of planning really did not play in our favor though, and Ive included these moments in the video!
    Let me know if I missed something! If you have any additional questions, leave them in the description and I will get back to you! As always, thank you for watching!

    You barely scratch the surface of the wonderful islands to go to in the Philippines. you basically just went to some visayan islands. The northern part of Luzon is very interesting. You'll find Sagada, UNESCO world heritage site of the Rice terraces. Also Batanes island where you'll find rolling hills and awesome landscape,the Ireland of the Philippines.

    The Internet issue with the Philippines was also because of its geography. It is costly to build or provision underwater cables for Philippine telcos plus the fact that there is minimal or zero ROI with their investment in remote locations or islands. There is definitely not enough customers to probably cover their cost on building communication towers, renting space and operating expenses. Starlink can be an alternative, however there is still no guarantee of reliability because it still relies on its line of sight with their low orbiting satellites. I guess you can compare it to rural America where I heard that some were still using dial up or DSL connections with low bandwidth capacity because the telcos does not want to invest more if there is minimal or zero ROI.

    • @adventuringwithclare
      @adventuringwithclare  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I think you are probably right! I imagine with having over 7000 island that could get extremely expensive to provide secure internet to all of them!! For the average traveler on holiday, the internet in the Philippines is perfect!!

      I do agree, everyone has their choice. If you're an environmentalist or an advocate for animal welfare then you should definitely not prefer this kind of tourist attractions. However if you're not a certified scuba diver or an experienced freediver and just a normal person wanting to have an escape from personal or work-related stress, then a few minutes of happiness from these kind of tourist destinations, IMO is okay. Again it is the same experience as visiting a small or big zoo and marine parks wherein it is not ideal for animals to be constrained in a small place but sometimes there was a reason why it has to be that way.

    You can't really compare the Philippines with Bali. Bali is just one island in Indonesia. Maybe compare the Philippines with Indonesia. Then you will realize that it is really difficult to travel in island countries whether the Philippines or Indonesia. There are no long roads that will connect all the islands. Simply impossible. With that being said, enjoy island hopping as each island offers a different experience.

    • @adventuringwithclare

      @@adventuringwithclare If I'm not mistaken, your experience of island hopping in Indonesia is from Bali to other parts of Indonesia. Nope not way nicer, just so different!Thailand has also long been promoting their country longer for Tourism. Tourism is their very top revenue earner as a country. They just know how to hide areas like slums better too. I remember the movie of Claire Danes “Brokedown Palace” which is of a true story that actually happened in Thailand. Thailand even refused the movie filming there because it would show their bad areas. So the production opted to film in the Philippines instead.
