I thought I read somewhere that Caius was a great strategist, so would be useful in combat. Didn't he lead the attacks against the Romanians and the Children of the Moon?
It was Aro who killed his own sister, because she and Marcus were about to leave the coven, and Aro didn't want to lose Marcus's ability to determine the emotional strength and weaknesses of other vampires. Marcus, surprisingly, never found out. Caius was somewhat bitter about not having an ability, and it contributed to his never-ending mood of resentment and anger. Caius was one of the original members of the Coven. In other words, they've been together for so long and worked together for so long, that they are basically the only family they have. The Volturi Guard are more like workers/guards/enforcers OF the Volturi, but not technically official members. The only official members of that coven are the three males, Aro, Caius, and Marcus, along with two wives. Caius is a sadist and loves enforcing the law given any chance, SO that's where he truly shines and what helps makes him valuable to the Coven. Yes, he does have the same life experiences and knowledge that Aro and Marcus have, therefore, he is valuable, cause it's always nice having another person of equal standing around to help take care of matters if you're already swamped with responsibilities.
@@elzamikelsone9507 Caius is married to one woman, Aro to another. I forget their names, merely research the Voltaire members online, and I am sure you will find more information about them. Mostly, they are not really mentioned or shown in the movies as their presence is unnecessary.

Caius did have a super power that his 2 brothers didnt realize. Caius is a name of a monster in a international popular card game called Yugioh. This monster in this card game is a Dark Monarch with the ability to remove any card off the field from play and if that card is a dark monster inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponent. This was his nature in Twilight. He removed things that his 2 ruling fellow brothers could not do. How many times aro spared ppl. Caius wouldnt. Even at the end aro didnt want to fight seeing the outcome of the battle. But caius wanted to get it on. That ferocious nature is needed and is lacking in his 2 fellow brothers. No 2nd chances. Lol. Just my 2 cents on this video. Great vid as always my brother cant wait 4 the next 1
We know how important Aro is to appearance. Caisius is the sadistic one in the group. Thanks to Caisius, Aro is able to play the role of diplomat and mediator.
One thing I never understood is why Eleazar was allowed to leave. His gift was identifying the gifts of vampires and potential gifts in humans. Seems like a very useful ability for Aro to have, in order to collect power. Yet he was allowed to leave.
I think both Carlisle and Eleazar were allowed to leave as as hidden tools of the Volturi, as was Caius himself. The fause image that the Volturi don't enslave people. Also, it would be easy to bring him back. Threaten Carmen and he'll come back. And Caius to give the image that you don't need a gift to be one of them. This might be part of why Aro excepted him and with his level of ambition and maybe he was more civilised than most at their founding. Also, when Caius joined them there were six members, which made them one of the biggest and powerful covens there was. Numbers, ambition, secret image, revenge over the Romanians. All these things make him a useful asset in the beginning and now. He deserves to be one of the leaders.
Aro learnt his lesson after killing his sister and debilitating Marcus. If people want to leave, better to let them go and maintain friendly ties if possible. Maximises your chances that they'll come back of their own accord someday. Most of the grey-cloak guards are described as "transitory" (they come and go, coming together when summoned for special missions but otherwise allowed to move on if they wish - Aro can't force them all to stay).
Do you mean Amun? He doesn't sense their abilities, he just seems to find them. Also Eleazar says no two vampires have the same ability, but in Midnight Sun Edward believes Bella inherited her shield from her father, but he was not as strong, and it seems that Renessme inherited and flipped her parent's abilities, but it seems she also inherited Rene's ability for everyone wanting to help her. Charlie's shield seem to shield his thoughts but not his doubts, though how Edward can tell this is never explained.
Caius is a energy vampire that's the reason he's always angry. Because the leader at the vampire may be a psychic for he aint in control completely. A psychiatrist to and a gvampire to be able control emotions.
The second chances thing did come from Caius as he says it to Alice, Edward and Bella in "New Moon" and Jane says in "Eclipse" specifically that "The Volturi don't give second chances. Keep that in mind. Caius will be interested to know you're still human" and Bella says "The date is set.". Not that all 3 would be interested that she was human but Caius specifically. I agree it is his ruthless nature and respect for their laws so much that makes him valuable. Plus he is a founding member so that on it's own has value. He would likely be the one developing battle plans and strategies and consulting with Aro. He was the one with the thirst for battle and punishment of anyone who even slightly disobeyed them and likely people that he and Aro just needed or wanted gone for any reason. Such as to get rid of someone's mate and coven to help get them to join them. Marcus clearly hated enforcing their laws and just living in general. He didn't like it before and was going to leave with his wife, Aro's sister Didyme, but Aro killed her to keep Marcus with the Volturi and his power. Although it is arguably not the most useful power. If Aro wanted to know the relationship ties between people he'd only have to read their thoughts. I don't see why he felt he needed him badly enough to kill his own sister. Marcus was clearly very over it.
I think it has a similar answer for why Littlefinger has such immense power as a player in Westeros despite, on paper, not being that powerful. The ability to manoeuvre the political chessboard is often more important than any base powers you have, because if you can be easily manipulated or controlled or simply believe that someone else should active in charge, your power is entirely theoretical. Knowing how people work and think and operate can be a far more useful skill in maintaining control over them than anything other vampires can do. Knowing what people think in the moment is useful, but knowing how they think is even moreso. Seeing the future is useful but being able to predict how someone will act can be even moreso. And that, I think, is what Caius could offer to the Volturi. His “power” is management, politics and control, and he utilises it to keep the Volturi in power as the other clans would be able to outwit them without his skill in that department. That would be my guess at any rate. It would make for an interesting dynamic if nothing else if Caius is the most politically useful member of the Volturi but, when it comes down to it, he’s the most vulnerable in a fight and still needs the protection of the others meaning they rely on each other if they want to hold onto power.
Marcus is actually the on whose physically younger out of the 3, with Caius being older in human years then both Aro & Marcus. I can Help but imagine Caius looking like a man in his late 30s to early 40s, with a beard and frown always present on his browse.
Where there is 'special power' and certainly 2 there is always one needed to keep them grounded. Caius doesn't have a special power but he is a strategist and that is what is needed to keep the others in place. Actually Caius is worth more then Aro.
Although all 3 of the top council in charge killed, Caeus was the primary instigator. The "bad cop". He got off on killings. Those heads aren't gonna rip themselves off lol.

Ok, so quick question, cos right now I am literally watching Twilight as I'm typing this up, but it's never really occurred to me till now, is what makes the vampires in the Twilight series sparkle? When they become vampires, the venom crystalizes every one of their cells, essentially turning each cell in their body into a prism that then refracts any light shined upon them
