They were an average defensive-minded team with ONE exceptional player. That formula never works but somehow he pulled it off.

I am Asian and have a very unbiased view. Maradona was probably the best soccer player, it was pleasant to watch him play. He is one of the few players that made soccer more popular in Asia because we all used to watch soccer just because of him.. Absolutely a treat to watch...Unfortunately, he was not that great off the field.

zidane was more of a team player. he was a legend 4 france but Ronaldo and Maradona completely changed the face of a team. This made life a lot easier for defenders, as did the lack of a back pass rule and any number of other things. Maradona would own today even more than he did back in the 80's - modern football is an attackers dream.
