3 Questions: 1- Are breaks and weight transfer "decently protraited" here? (I mean at least PC2 level) 2- Can you customize the engine mapping for each rev? 3- Are gear ratios more open then PC2? (in PC2 they are atrociously locked)
Nutcase Ian Bell and Slightly Mad Studios couldn't make a proper sim even after a combined 6+ years of development for PC1 and PC2. Apparently at some point during development of PC3, nothing was going right with the updated tire physics, AI and overall vehicle tuning etc. and the team realized it just couldn't make a realistic racing simulator. So they kept what they had, dumbed it down and started removing things that didn't work properly (advanced tire model physics, AI decision making regarding pit strategy during qualifying/ race and the proper tuning to ensure it was all polished. This is the end result: PROJECT GREED (GRID). It's unfortunate when lazy devs abandon their original vision due to lack of leadership and talent.
I have no problem with a franchise changing direction. An arcade racer is not for me but I wish SMS success. What irks is seeing Ian and Nathan Bell blatantly gaslighting their existing player base by refusing to admit there has been a change of direction. It's insulting our intelligence and dishonest.
Playing devil's advocate, if the handling in the final build is more on the simulator side of things and they have baked in assists turned on in the preview code to keep the influencers happy, then the removal of pit stops isn't really that much of a change. However if the handling remains as described here then I can definitely see your point.
@@wabbit234 It's not just the handling. Pretty much every communication SMS have released has had something in it to suggest a move well away from the structure of previous games. For example "owning" and upgrading cars, is pure Forza or GT. I have zero interest in unlocking content in a racing game and zero interest in souping up street cars with upgrades. Other people do, and that's fine, and SMS can make whatever game they want, but doing all that while simultaneously trying to reassure me that the game is still for me is total BS.
Zedeeyen To be fair almost every racing game pitches itself as being for everyone. In fact make that every video game of any kind. They all pitch themselves as perfect for beginners and die hard fans alike. It’s not good marketing to come out and tell a portion of the market that your game isn’t for them. There is enough video from a huge number of sources for you to figure that out for yourself but a company is never going to come out and say it.
Fair review, and I think you hit the nail on the head. This game isn't for "hardcore" simracers, but for people who actually want a "game" with more realistic handling. And I do agree with you, they shouldn't've named is Project Cars 3
Inori GC They could have named it Project COVID-19 and we would still have bought it if it was any good! The problem isn’t with what it is called. It’s with what it IS. I don’t mind the arcade stuff one tiny bit, if it were ADDED to the existing game. But scorched earth game development isn’t a great idea. The idea is to BUILD your base, not completely replace it...
@@1RolandG70 well, that would have been fixed by calling it something else and not pretend like this was the new Project CARS 3, like they did by actually giving that name. Yes it was as simple as not calling it PC3. If it was called something like "Shift Motosport" or whatever there wouldn't be any controversy whatsoever. People would just assume they finally got around to make that Shift game(everyone says) they always wanted to make.
Nick S. EA hold the rights to the Shift name, so can that idea. And sorry, but I don’t really think it’s just about the name. Most of the base would have been fine with the new game if only pits, tires and fuel had been retained AS OPTIONS. Ian Bell said it would be Shift-like over two years ago, but nobody ever dreamed he’d throw out the baby with the bath water. You can drive round any amount of nerfed handling, especially if it gains you decent pad handling (ask any GTS wheel player!), but you can’t drive around core motorsports detail missing. It’s the laziness of the devs that is the most divisive. Leave the core pits/tires/fuel code in (as options) even without the slightest improvement, this is a different story. But why drop code you already have?
Majlo Igaz Completely agree. This is Project Cars Go, sold to kids (at full price) for a quick cash grab and to fulfill their contractual obligation to Bandai with the least amount of effort. Should have been called Project Kids!
PCARS never fostered a community, really. They tried in PCARS 1. They killed it in PCARS 2 (removing mods.txt and making us have to break the game in order to run custom liveries, etc.) and they've basically shrugged and were like "who needs community anyways? we'll just make forza 2.5 and focus on single player"
Well, just watched the video, seems like there Forza / Grid competitor. That's fine, just really shouldn't have been called Project Cars 3, all that does is confuse people
"But realistically this is not a Project CARS game. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing..." Yes it is if it keeps being called Project CARS 3. For the third game in an established franchise to go in a completely different direction to its predecessors is the ultimate in bad things they could do. If Halo 3 had nothing to do with Master Chief, that's a bad thing. Project CARS 3 has nothing to do with sim racing. Project C.A.R.S started as "Community Assisted Racing Simulator". They're 100% going against their own title. That's a bad thing.
Not generally a bad name means a bad game. Yeah, this game doesn't deserve to be called Project Cars 3, but nothing will change if they change the name.
@@Otherface it would have saved all of us(they're included) all the controversy around the game. If it wasn't called Project CARS 3, the people expecting a new Project CARS game wouldn't be complaining about it not being like previous PC in the first place. If it was called something else, and they were honest about it being a more arcade game, no one would truly complain about it. Sim racers would just look away and more casual players would look as possible game to fill in the gaps that Grid 2019 left. It was that simple...
@Bolkiebasher well even tho I liked Grid 2019 it felt like it try to like grid 1 with it actually giving you points for drifting while still having that grid auto sport in it but I can understand why you think it’s a disappointment
Grid failed, codies want to make it right and have an arcade game in their lineup because it sells which is fine. The issue lies with them insisting that it is still a sim and then blatantly changing the game from a sim to an arcade while keeping the name for marketing sake
@Alan formula1 that's the thing. If you were to play an arcade game, this is the game they want you to play... but by calling it Project CARS is just makes it... wrong. If it has any other game I think most of us wouldn't be bothered by it. And the ones who do enjoy more casual games would actually look forward to some arcade motorsport game and be what Grid 2019 wasn't.
As a hardcore sim racer with a $20k sim rig, I’m actually super stoked for this game. Sometimes I want a break from iRacing, rFactor, ACC, and just want to play something a bit more arcade that supports VR and motion. This looks fun!
20 secs of gameplay footage is all I need to know... goes down the garbage for me. That's like picking my nerf gun and go to the shooting range with it :-D. Seriously that kind of oversteer and drift behavior with a formula car? Who T.F: wants that? No matter if you are into "Hardcore" or "arcade" racing... this is a plain joke.
Really happy with this direction. There hasn’t been a good single player circuit racing game in a long time. The hardcore sim market is fairly packed at the moment for the size of the audience while the more single player focussed market is a barren wasteland. I hope they nail it
I don't have that much time to play any more, and it can be months between each time I play a racing game, so I've started to appreciate more arcade sims as they are much easier to just jump into and play without practicing for hours before a race. So perhaps this is just what I need.
Same. I have found quick Gran Turismo races (30 min or less) perfect for my schedule. I want the look and feel of a SIM but not necessarily the hassle of an extended racing set up. Although i do like to qualify instead of being placed at the back of the pack every race.
@@ceeece At the very least there should be a "generate qualify" option based on your last race, with some variations. I agree that starting at the back every race is annoying.
Looks like a good bit of fun. Ever since Forza 2, I've been looking for a good singleplayer race career, where I can upgrade my Volkswagen Golf to the point where it can compete with f1 cars
Man, that feeling of getting Forza 2 and starting that career and building up one car at a time... awesome. It was what I wanted Gran Turismo 3 career mode to be back in the day (no disrespect, I love Gran Turismo in general as well)
I’m not expecting this to be a new simulator but more like NFS Shift 3- A game series I absolutely loved. I was very sceptical at first but I’m actually getting more interested in this. Thinking about preordering it...
Need for Speed Shift was a huge leap in realism for me after Grid, so I think this title could be a bridge for many people to get into sim racing eventually.
Project Cars Legacy... Project Cars Sprint... Project Cars Rebooted.... Project Cars Destiny..... Project Cars Sport.... Project Cars Champions... ... they could have easily called it something else other than Project Cars 3.
I completely agree with what you mean by the branding and everything. I enjoyed the first 2 PCARS games and heard there was going to be gamey elements. That's not a problem as long as they kept the main parts of the first 2 games. What then annoyed me is how they then told us "it's a sim game" whilst also removing the parts that helped PCARS1/2 be a sim. If they had come out and said "we're making a new series as a spin-off like the Forza series and it's called x" then fine. I get it. I'd probably get it somewhere down the line knowing that we've got something coming on the next-gen of consoles. But the mess of their communication has put me off buying this game at all and hoping it's not a new direction.
Music analogy. PC1 was the Beatles Revolver. PC2 was Sgt. Peppers. PC3 is The White album. 1 & 2 are similar but 3 is quite different. Same band though.
After this and Chris Haye's review I'm looking forward to it. Happy to have a fun palette cleanser between getting punted in iRacing and battling the UI in RF2. It looks a step above Grid and Forza is unplayable on a wheel, seems like really its an option outside of Playstation to have a Gran Turismo style experience, with fantastic VR.
Question I have would be whether the bugs from PC2 that never got resolved made their way to PC3... E.g. the clutch issue? I also found PC2 has excessive clutch slip when snap shifting using the h-pattern. Those detract somewhat from the experience, so I hope they got sorted in PC3...
I have PC1 and PC2 and i am a casual gamer. I won't purchase PC3, i don't like career mode with very short races, very short championship and there isn't an offline custom championship mode. it's like Grid 2019, no interest to me.
Hi GamerMuscleVideos, May I ask with Project Cars 3, how many laps max can you go on each track in a race? Is your version that you are trying a full version of the game or is it just a small demo of just certain tracks? No one seems to know or tell us, since there are no pits, the length of race laps max we can do. Thanks though for the preview of PC3.
@@GamerMuscleVideos Just a quick update. I did get Project Cars 3 only for just having another VR game to have fun with. I purchased the game at a very low price on STEAM and knew what to expect from your review and others. I agree with you, the game is nothing more than a GRID or NFS arcade type game. I still do Project Cars 2 from time to time. much better than this game. I guess no more new Project Cars games since Electronic Arts said no more. Also Project Cars 2 is no longer listed on STEAM but my game still works fine. Anyway, take care.
eh, im still not happy about this. but lets be honest, most of my sim racing isnt really sim racing. its mostly project cars 2 or dirt rally. neither of which were the best of sims to start with. dirt rally especially, as by definition its a rally game. its about sliding around etc. and as great as it is. im pretty sure its still very simcade as its still quite easy to play for the most part. so maybe project cars 3 will be right up my alley? i guess i am a pretty casual player. usually on a friday or saturday night, in vr, with my wheel and most importantly a few drinks... yeah. ok. im definitely a casual gamer not a sim racer, lol.
@@NyaNekoGTR Yea...I spent a load of money on a rig for driveclub vr, g29 wheei shifter, racing seat etc and guess what? No more racing games on psvr! Dirt rally and gts vr are hopeless (nothing to race against, one car doesn't count!) BASTARDO!!!
The problem is that this game is being reviewed by PC gamers/simmers. Imagine being a console player (bet you all were, once!) with no access to iRacing, rF2 or AMS2. Imagine that on console, your choices for a sim that took motorsports seriously enough to at least have moderately accurate handling were ACC and PC2. Now imagine a world where 50% of your available choices suddenly decided they wanted to make another Grid (despite PC2 massively outselling Grid) and now your ONLY choice is ACC, which only has one car class (and another pretty similar class on the way as paid DLC) and a pretty limited track selection. Would you be as tolerant? This game will live or die by its console sales, and SMS just basically alienated its entire adult base. Yes, if you are an eight year old that loves liveries, upgrades and bashing your way to the front in a three lap race (in other words, if you hate the sport of motor racing!) it’s ‘the best game EVER, bro’... But if you’ve passed puberty and don’t have a four figure PC gaming rig, you’ve just been tinkled on from a great height. I love your videos, but try to remember that the PC sector is a fraction of console sales, and try to put yourself in our shoes a bit because there won’t be a console review until much closer to shipping. Thanks...
Devin Ponder Oh the irony. Here you are, talking like you came out the school yard. How about we reconnect when you finish middle school? Then you might have learned how to argue, not simply spout ‘l know you are, but what am I?’ ad nauseam.
I agree with you 100% Same thing could be said say 10 years ago when sim racer games weren't as popular as today. Back then it was all about Test drive, Need for speed, Midnight club. Sure there was gran turismo, forza motorsport, and nascar. I'm making that point cause in today's racing game scene its always sim sim sim. Sometimes I just want to race and have fun and not worry about pits, lap times, and having the best setup. I'm excited for this, it reminds me of need for speed shift, which I loved along with need for speed pro street back in the day. Yeah I know it has the project cars name, but so what...
Josh B The real issue is, why were PC2’s sim elements thrown out as PC3’s arcade elements were added? What’s wrong with a game that can do BOTH? That is the core success strategy of GTS & FM7. Yes, you can play them pretty arcade. But you can also play them fairly serious sim, allowing for the handling issues. PC3 is the game that should have been ADDED to PC2, not the game that replaced it.
looks great. what's confusing about the name is that in the original, CARS stood for Community Assisted Racing Simulator. So now it should just be Project CAR? is it still community assisted? Project R? :D
Feels like they're going the way of a lot of multiplayer games lately where it's fast in your face colorful, not too serious for newbies but serious enough for competitive players. Probably can pay for car customizations. Feel you have to kind of stay true to your base game though.
I've been wondering and I could be totally wrong: Since AMS2 and PC2 use the same engine, if SMS stayed true to the sim path, PC3 would have been like AMS2 but with more cars and tracks, since they both use the same engine and they're both sims. Since AMS2 came out first, a sim version PC3 would have had to differentiate itself somehow to be, well different, from AMS2. So maybe they went with the decision to go down the arcade route, and that's fine! It looks like a decent arcade game. I don't know if that makes sense but yeah
It sort of makes sense, but Ian Bell said PC3 was to be the spiritual successor to Shift well before Reiza asked if they could license the Madness engine. AMS2 is PC-only, and even on PC, I don't think AMS2 would have been a serious rival for a sim version of PC3 commercially. PC2 comfortably outsells AMS2 and has 10x the users. I think rather than AMS2 being a threat sales-wise to a sim version of PC3, Reiza should hopefully be more successful with AMS2 thanks to PC3 taking its new direction.
@@davidwright1605 Who is saying there will not be a console version for AMS2? It will be the same with ACC I guess, just without this ugly compromises that Kunos did. ACC is mushy in steering, braking and throttling and Sim racers stupid enough to believe that the real cars are like that.
@@Leynad778 At very few occasions I felt that ACC was mushy. I think most of the times it feels just as planted as iRacing, maybe except for the braking aspect. The steering, sliding etc is definitely bang on, and not even in the playing field with PC2 kinda mushiness.
This only makes sense if you pretend the console market doesn’t exceed the PC market by at least an order of magnitude. Imagine a world where you couldn’t play AMS2, rF2 or iRacing and there were already plenty of arcade games, and this new game looks a lot more like yet another typical Ian Bell boneheaded mistake.
I have fond memories of playing nfs prostreet with some friends racing our modded shitboxes lol. If project cars 3 upgrade system is good with a fun driving physics, then this game is perfect for me.
If it has scheduled races like GT Sport and a decent rating system its a buy, if not Ill propably just pick it up for 10€ in a sale at some point. I Just like upgrading/tuning cars and having half decent physics, I really liked Forza Horizon back when I wasnt into sims. Its still a decent game, but it doesnt quite scratch that itch for me anymore
I really like the approach. Everything that will get people into racing games is welcome. It will benefit sim racers as well since this is a gateway to sim racing -> more players is always a good thing.
Well this looks fun after all - I play arcade racing games with a wheel on PC (Initial D 8, Gravel, WMMT5) when I don’t have time to set up a sim-race. PC3 seems a perfect plug and play *racing* game.
I’ve watched yours and Chris’s footage, and I really don’t know if I want to get this or not. If this had released 5 years ago I would have been all over this like a rash. Now that I moved from 4 seasons of Forza into the sim world, if the sim elements are not right it’s going to get under my skin, like it did that Forza was so plastic and unrealistic. On the other hand I weirdly miss a bit of a single player grind. Ummmm, is two hours enough to make a decision, am I missing out if I bin it off now. Just the footage of you driving that single seater did not look at all realistic as slick tyres don’t handle like that. I’m so on the fence not even played it
Yeah, I'm in a similar position as you, albeit with somewhat differing motivations. I don't personally have an issue with a "simcade" style game if the racing is fun and the story/career content doesn't make me want to chuck rocks at dogs and children. Based on the content I've seen, the single biggest red flag for me is the race length; if I can adjust the length so every race isn't 2-3 laps, I'm pretty sold. If not, I'll sit on my cash until something better comes along to take it.
@Galactic_Nerd-sk I have Project Cars, I was involved with the community sms development with Project Cars 2, I also have AC and ACC. I sometimes do videos on them 😛
Having seen this the pitstops seem irrelevant. The awful frame rates put that in to insignificance. I haven’t seen anything that makes me want to play this over PC1. The graphics are worse and the reviewer says the handling isn’t as good. So what exactly is the point of the game at all?
I love your honesty, not a lot of content creators would have the balls to mention the bad. You have no idea how much respect that earns you, looking forward to Microsoft flight simulator official reviews and content.
Really looking forward to this in vr,wanted a more arcade racer for vr as i have project cars 2,automobilsta 2 and dirt amongst others.if anyones moaning about the handling theres plenty of sims out there,i agree that this shouldnt have been called project cars 3 though, maybe project cars grid!
Codemaster buy SMS and did the same job as they do when they wanted to sell us Dirt 4 as the new Dirt Rally : a lie No fuel management, no pit in PC3... What a joke for a Sim and what a shame after PC1 and 2 even if they aren't my favorite realistic sims.
As this seems to be after the simcade casual market, then they MUST nail controller steering or they will never get anywhere in the FORZA / GT Sport arena. How does it play on controller?
Don't get me wrong, I love a good simulator - I think I spend most of my time in them (ACC, rFactor 2, AMS2 etc) but there something to be said for some silly fun racing with your mates, so despite what many people wanted PC3 to be, I think it has potential to be a fun distraction from the all-too-serious sim racing all the time. I think I'm actually looking forward to it.
im all for a sim based game that has a proper career i will except slightly lesser relism for a decent single player at this point, all the hardcore sims just dont offer anything as a single player expericance
Hi, I hope you see this because I'm very conflicted, I was about to buy project cars 2 as my first racing simulator but i then saw this and some other stuff saying that project cars 3 is coming out in a very short amount of time, so my question is should I still go ahead and buy project cars 2 deluxe and some of the dlcs for my first racing simulator?
Go for 2 if it's your first, full package with bugs squashed and cheaper. Play it for a couple of months, it is a good middle ground game to assess what type of sim to go for next.
We have enough sims, so I welcome a new arcade racer. I saw some nighttime city driving and it looked great. But they should've called it Grid 3 or NFS: Shift 3 instead of PC3.
Just every time I saw the F1 car slide and not spin out I was infuriated beyond belief. Project cars 2 was my first sim game so I didn’t have much of an issue with the force feedback issues many other people had, making it a beautiful game to play with so many great historic cars that felt unique and real to the time. I was super stocked for this one to fix the handling issue people complained about so it would be more well respected but I guess they went this route instead. I’m just disappointed.
DK Motor Racing NZ yea, they just purchased Slightly Mad with no strings attached and and SMS just decided to make their game series do a complete 180 and play like a Codemasters game as a sort of tribute.
I'm probably still going to get it... I watched Chris Haye's review yesterday and thought it looks pretty decent now this has put some doubt back in my mind. They could have called it Grid Autosport 2 and all would be well in the world whilst making an actual PCARS3, but it is what it is, I'm sure it's got potential to just be a fun game.
@@gameboyterrorysta6307 Yeah you're probably right there mate, I only didn't say Shift 3 because I'm fairly sure EA own the need for speed copyright, so Grid Autosport 2 was more likely due to Codemasters 👍🏻
will it have the same style of career as the previous pcars games? going through a racing series season after season? I really want that in more games. I'm ok with what they're doing with this from what I'm hearing here and seeing from the game, pcars was always treading inbetween what "sims" on pc are and whatever forza or gran turismo are anyway.
I'm excited for this! I played PC2 with the rift in vr and it's so great, it beats Assetto Corsa for me because I'm not a hc sim racer, I just want to have fun, good looking racing in VR and this sounds perfect for that, so much so that I ordered a new pc and the Reverb G2 to get the best out of it :) Great early impressions, thanks!
"why did they call this Project CARS 3???" because SMS still thinks that the CARS part is relevant. they still think that they listen to the community and make a simulation. which is what CARS stands for: Community Assisted Racing Simulation. and, apart from the Racing part, nothing is relevant anymore. I don't want to support a bunch of liers. claiming that they make a very realistic simulator AND claims that it's what the community wants. this is a red alert for me. and I won't buy that title even if it's a good game. I've seen the backside of it in the Project CARS 2 era on their official forum. how they treat the community. and that's a nope for me
i love little things the AI do like locking up before a turn or going off track etc...really looks cool and life like at times. I remember PC said they were not going to make another sim like game. So i hope they would make a PC2-R version ie: updated thats all need really
I was not planning on buying this, but since I use VR it occurs to me that this may be really fun. It won't be serious, but it will be fun. And there's a place for that.
Why is the edge of the screen going red when you hit a cone (around the 1:00 mark)? Are you being shot at? LOL! I don't mind some of the arcade elements. There is plenty of room for less serious driving games, and I honestly miss the fun of games like Gran Turismo. I loved buying, upgrading, and painting cars to add to my personal dream garage. However, when you talked about the driving dynamics, I lost hope. Why can't we have a game like Gran Tursimo but with realistic handling and excellent FFB? Why does SMS refuse to put more effort into these areas? So disappointing.
My opinion is: we don't need everything to be hardcore Sim racing. I do play iRacing, ACC Ranked and so on. But sometimes I just want to get home after a day of work and play a racing game with a controller. Basically plug and play. And that's why I love gran turismo and forza motorsports, and I probably like PC3 too.
Thanks for a very informative review. The best I've seen so far. For all its annoying flaws, PC2 offered an amazing range of racing experiences with 180 cars and 60 tracks in one package, and at £45 it was incredible value. While a good section of the sim-racing crowd hated the newcomer with a vengeance, and whether you liked the end results or not, the physics engine and live-track and weather system really pushed simulation forwards. While many are breathing a sigh of relief that SMS have abandoned the sim-racing arena, I feel the lack of a serious rival to Kunos and iRacing will leave us poorer.
If all I had was a game console and a controller, and I was looking for something that wasn't Forza or Gran Turismo, this would be a contender. Unfortunately for them, I have a PC and a simrig where the sole focus is on realism. This isn't a sequel to the Project CARS franchise at all, this is just Grid Autosport 2 in disguise. Also, this graphics downgrade on the road to next-gen game consoles seems like a quick way to cash out now and churn out another sequel by 2022.
I loved Project Cars and PC2 and logged hundreds of hours on PC2. I love ACC also (on PS4). I really don't mind an arcade version of PC2 as the concept of simply jumping into a single player race without elaborate set-up requirements has a certain appeal to me. But the thing I like most about the PC series (and ACC) is the adjustability of the game to make the racing experience more true to life. By this I mean the ability to compress time, add dynamic weather events etc to simulate a 12 or 24 hour race over a 2 to 4 hour period. I've done this a dozen times at least. I'm assuming that since PC3 has removed pit stops, this is no longer an option. I was hoping PC3 would be similar to PC2 but with a bit more realism such as AI mistakes, safety cars and perhaps larger fields. But it definitely went in a different direction !
Finally! A Project Cars game that I will play for more than JUST California Highway Full, in Private Test mode!! Maybe I'll finally feel like RACING in my VR cockpit, instead of just DRIVING. Whoot!
Handling was redeveloped for the console controller pad users and when not using a steering wheel and pedals, be interesting to see how different it handles with a console controller tho!!
It's the Halloween III of simcade racers! I appreciate the diversity, since I finally have a PC that can run a sim properly. rF2 is my favorite because of the incredible wheel feedback and the variety of tracks and cars (especially the mods). Sometimes, I just want to sit on my couch, grab my controller, and catch a ridiculous powerslide around a corner at 180 mph within inches of the other cars and track obstacles. It's ok to appreciate both.
Hi Gamer muscle I just subbed today, I love watching Super GT, Jimmy Broadbent and Tiametmarduk. I also love racing games and have been playing them for years, formula 1, rally, Forza, Gran Turismo, street rod 🤣, test drive, project cars 1 and 2. Assetto Corsa, Horizon, need for speed, GRID (I enjoy the new one, it’s fun) and I’m on a pad no wheel or pedals at the moment, also love cars in real life and come from a car family. I have watched you before on the past and I have subbed too. Also great Microsoft flight simulator videos too my Dad worked in aviation so I like planes too. ✈️. So with project cars 3 half of me is like oh this will fun I love cars and racing games and I’m on a pad, other half of me is like angry at there decisions and removal of pit stops etc. I’m not sure 🤔 if I should pre order or wait for a sale. I will be upgrading to Xbox series X, have Xbox one x and PS4 pro and 4 k HDR tv and all so really hyped for next Forza. Also enjoy assetto Corsa and ACC there sound and physics is brilliant. Anyway I am keeping a keen eye on project cars 3 though! Love your videos though keep it up and keep racing hard. Great content.
Thanks 👍 personally I don't pre order games if they are not racing games or hardcore Sims I wate a few weeks or so or use steam so I can refund if I don't like it 🤣
so in short its not project cars 3. but Shift 3 I.E basicly shift 2 without its cusred handling and phsyics model and with somthing more like project cars 2 but not 100%
For some reason that I can't put the finger on, the Game looks at this point far more better than when they showed it for first time. The rear spoilers don't fall at the slightest touch anymore, and sounds and appears to be more a Project Cars, and not at all like a GRID 2019 with less lens flares.
Every time I see gameplay GRID pops into mind. I purchased Grid last week and the handling way to Arcady for me. I truly feel this game PC3 is what Grid should have been also. This might be similar but better physics even though it’s not as hardcore as the last game. I’m interested in seeing people compare PC2 cars to PC3 cars and seeing how they stack up. It’s obvious PC2 is more realistic and PC3 is less somewhat less but still enjoyable.
Let's be honest here. None of the established Sims were great when they first arrived, ALL of them had to go through several updates to get to a point where SIM racers started liking what they'd bought, and even then some we're never satisfied. I'm sure given 6 months of development together with users feedback, PC3 will become a great all-round SIM/game and possibly the first to convert just gamers into tomorrows SIM racers.
No, this game is not a sim. The force feedback is bad (i know it is in pc2 as well), there's no pitstops, and the xp system, weird customization and upgrades makes this game feel like a tryhard version of nfs or forza. So to make this gmae into a real sim, it'd need a major redesign.
@@axelode45 I've just learned that there is no 'Tyre Temperature' data!!! Wow, this definitely not a sim! Maybe I will buy Microsoft Flight Simulator instead, I can then simulate flying to the circuit I'm going to simulate racing at! Lol. : )
I really want arcade game with vehicles feel changing vastly from other, nice vehicle damage and car customization and weight ballance being key mechanic to get speed. Generally I want Project Gotham Racing with destruction model from the first GRID, NFS visual upgrades and mix between NFS and Forza car customization. With small amount of supercars, tons of shitboxes and touring cars, option to create fictional race cars within existing regulations, RWD Subaru Legacy BTCC Super Touring for example. Dream that will never come true sadly. TBH I would be happy with just Project Gotham Racing 5. Finished PGR4 for nth time recently and fell in love with this game once again.
Thanks for watching and bopping the buttons especially all the polish girls.
3 Questions: 1- Are breaks and weight transfer "decently protraited" here? (I mean at least PC2 level)
2- Can you customize the engine mapping for each rev?
3- Are gear ratios more open then PC2? (in PC2 they are atrociously locked)
I enjoy iced milk tea. Does that count?
Probably the best preview of the game i've seen. Honest, engaging and to the point 👍

Zedeeyen best comment about PC3
Zedeeyen To be fair almost every racing game pitches itself as being for everyone. In fact make that every video game of any kind. They all pitch themselves as perfect for beginners and die hard fans alike. It’s not good marketing to come out and tell a portion of the market that your game isn’t for them. There is enough video from a huge number of sources for you to figure that out for yourself but a company is never going to come out and say it.
@@wabbit234 removing pit stops, tire degradation, tire temperature, wear, etc. is not that much of a change? 🙄
They should've separate the branding as we see with dirt and dirt rally or forza and forza horizon
Faiz Siraj Yeah
But why drop code you already have?
you mean mobile game ? because PC3 is really on mobile games level :D
I agree. That why AC still have a big community
Well, just watched the video, seems like there Forza / Grid competitor. That's fine, just really shouldn't have been called Project Cars 3, all that does is confuse people
That's the point. To confuse/encourage sim racer into arcade.
Maybe something like Project Cars Motorsport, so still the same group name but just a different direction rather than market it as a sequel.
Definitely a grid competitor but forza motorsport is on a different level.
No wonder they are "Slightly Mad"
Should've made it a spin off instead of calling it "Project Cars"
Thats literally what this game is. It only changed name recently right before release.
@@sqlevolicious wat O.o
"But realistically this is not a Project CARS game. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing..."
Yes it is if it keeps being called Project CARS 3.
If it were called Project cars: Shift, it would make sense since some of the people on pc1 worked on nfs shift too
@@Otherface it would have saved all of us(they're included) all the controversy around the game.

Thats what it will be. If you love grid games this will be a great one. They should've called it " Sry about the last one, here's Grid 3"
A bit of Grid, Shift, Forza and Project Gotham Racing. I want to have this game. 😍😍👌
Yeah, Grid 2019 was huge disappointment.
@@Bolkiebasher Yeah multiplayer with AI that ram hard Like they at a Destruction Derby Event Doesn't make for a good racing game.
@Bolkiebasher well even tho I liked Grid 2019 it felt like it try to like grid 1 with it actually giving you points for drifting while still having that grid auto sport in it but I can understand why you think it’s a disappointment
"Feels like Codemasters Grid handling". Oh dear. Interest dropping
Grid failed, codies want to make it right and have an arcade game in their lineup because it sells which is fine. The issue lies with them insisting that it is still a sim and then blatantly changing the game from a sim to an arcade while keeping the name for marketing sake
Interest dropping, too. Grid is the worst racing game I think!
Bye then
Same. wtf were they thinking?
@Alan formula1 that's the thing. If you were to play an arcade game, this is the game they want you to play... but by calling it Project CARS is just makes it... wrong.
If it has any other game I think most of us wouldn't be bothered by it. And the ones who do enjoy more casual games would actually look forward to some arcade motorsport game and be what Grid 2019 wasn't.

Too bad its not Project Asseto Factor
As a hardcore sim racer with a $20k sim rig, I’m actually super stoked for this game. Sometimes I want a break from iRacing, rFactor, ACC, and just want to play something a bit more arcade that supports VR and motion. This looks fun!
Exactly, this looks like a nice game to compliment those other titles and offer something just a little different
If it wasn't called Project cars 3, I wouldn't be bothered, but it is...
Yeah I can't wait to do street racing in VR
All it needed was to be called Project Cars: Shift and ALL our problems would go away
As an owner of a $4k rig i totally agree 👍😎
20 secs of gameplay footage is all I need to know... goes down the garbage for me. That's like picking my nerf gun and go to the shooting range with it :-D. Seriously that kind of oversteer and drift behavior with a formula car? Who T.F: wants that? No matter if you are into "Hardcore" or "arcade" racing... this is a plain joke.
This should have been called 'Grid Motorsport' instead.
Project Shift 3

Thinking about preordering it...
wtf graphics look like an asphalt game. what happened?
Need for Speed Shift was a huge leap in realism for me after Grid, so I think this title could be a bridge for many people to get into sim racing eventually.
Well if anything it will teach you really bad habits NOT to do in simracing
I feel like Vito Corleone when he goes to see Santino at the morgue😔
Music analogy.
PC1 was the Beatles Revolver.
PC2 was Sgt. Peppers.
PC3 is The White album.
1 & 2 are similar but 3 is quite different. Same band though.
After this and Chris Haye's review I'm looking forward to it. Happy to have a fun palette cleanser between getting punted in iRacing and battling the UI in RF2. It looks a step above Grid and Forza is unplayable on a wheel, seems like really its an option outside of Playstation to have a Gran Turismo style experience, with fantastic VR.
Forza unplayable on the wheel, what!? I understand it's not on sim levels but come on. It's completely fine for what it is. Motorsport at least.
Did he take it down?
Yes, he did remove it today. Interesting...
is he using automatic? i don't see his fingers moving the paddle
Question I have would be whether the bugs from PC2 that never got resolved made their way to PC3... E.g. the clutch issue? I also found PC2 has excessive clutch slip when snap shifting using the h-pattern. Those detract somewhat from the experience, so I hope they got sorted in PC3...
Wow he is drifting with a Formula 1 car, now please add some nitro and some rockets, some banana peels would be fun too
I have PC1 and PC2 and i am a casual gamer.
Can do as many laps as you want I think in quick race mode.

Thanks...
And yet...here you are, crying like a little kid over a "video game" lol.
Devin Ponder Oh the irony. Here you are, talking like you came out the school yard. How about we reconnect when you finish middle school? Then you might have learned how to argue, not simply spout ‘l know you are, but what am I?’ ad nauseam.
I agree with you 100%
Same thing could be said say 10 years ago when sim racer games weren't as popular as today.
Project R? :D
Project ARS - arcade race-like sim
Project Codemasters Assisted Racing SimcadeE - PC ARSE
it doesn't look great at all.
Project R sounds like one of those forgotten wannabe Gran turismo 4 PS2 games.

I was waiting on your video. Awesome as usual.🤘
Exactly my thoughts.
GamerMuscleVideos did you see any Antialiasing options? All of the gameplay videos I've seen have a lot of aliasing.
This was so informative, literally answered every question I had about the game. Awesome preview!
Your the exact same as me
If you want this but want a sim, buy Project CARS 2! I'm staying with it over this crap plus it's really cheap now thanks to this new game.
@Galactic_Nerd-sk I have Project Cars, I was involved with the community sms development with Project Cars 2, I also have AC and ACC. I sometimes do videos on them 😛
Will training and quali be possible in Custom Race SP mode?
Having seen this the pitstops seem irrelevant. The awful frame rates put that in to insignificance. I haven’t seen anything that makes me want to play this over PC1. The graphics are worse and the reviewer says the handling isn’t as good. So what exactly is the point of the game at all?
I love your honesty, not a lot of content creators would have the balls to mention the bad. You have no idea how much respect that earns you, looking forward to Microsoft flight simulator official reviews and content.
Why do you have to put so much wheel lock in to turn the car a tiny amount?
Really looking forward to this in vr,wanted a more arcade racer for vr as i have project cars 2,automobilsta 2 and dirt amongst others.if anyones moaning about the handling theres plenty of sims out there,i agree that this shouldnt have been called project cars 3 though, maybe project cars grid!

No fuel management, no pit in PC3...
Well said Stig...wait..the Stig..of course you'll like it..its racin innit...

Assetto Corsa (original not competizone) all day. Far better value for money.
Be aware, servers for online racing in PC2 are virtually dead, whereas Assetto Corsa are still well populated.
Go for 2 if it's your first, full package with bugs squashed and cheaper. Play it for a couple of months, it is a good middle ground game to assess what type of sim to go for next.
Project cars 2, its cheap and theres alot of content. Deffinely get it if your on console, if your on PC then Assetto corsa competizione.

We have enough sims, so I welcome a new arcade racer. I saw some nighttime city driving and it looked great. But they should've called it Grid 3 or NFS: Shift 3 instead of PC3.
Holy crap, you are even more optimistic than usual in this one. 7:45 especially. You are in form!

I've seen the backside of it in the Project CARS 2 era on their official forum. how they treat the community. and that's a nope for me
Totally agree. Stay true to what you stand for or honestly admit the change of direction.
i love little things the AI do like locking up before a turn or going off track etc...really looks cool and life like at times.
I FULLY expected the click-baity-ish title though!
never mind this game, its gonna please nobody. this preview feels like you trying to convince me to buy a game that's a whole lot of nothing
Nice video, think this is going to be very popular
I banged the bel with my headl. GM, you owe me a new screen.
I only have a driving wheel, should I get an x-box controller?
That was some seriously filthy F1 - sorry, Formula A action there...
Lol. : )
@@DavidSmith-fx5xpThat sounds like a cool idea.
i am new to sim racing but are games like these patched later on for a better experience?
what about the visual damage models, please tell me they aren't as terrible as they are in PC2
Always thought there was a gap in the market for a Gran Turismo type game. This makes total sense.
Can't wait to play it and make sim racing videos about it 😁
