    I had the same problem, it indeed seemed to be an issue with the two small connectors.
    Cleaned with a dab of watered down washing up liquid and a dry, fine fibre cloth used for cleaning glasses and it worked a treat!

    Mine stopped working, done all in the video as it has happened to me in the past, didn't work for me this time, rang Dyson, said I needed a new head as motor has probably gone, approx £70, I tried the other smaller rotating brush which worked fine, so problem was in the head unit, several Torx screws you need to undo to get to the motor, 2 wires connecting to motor, took them off, checked electrical continuity between each wire (with a multimeter) and its connectors where it connects to the long tube, one wire was fine the other no continuity, so completely dismantled the unit, the two wires run through the pivot area, right on the pivot point one wire had broken due to the constant flexing, pulled both wires out of their retaining channels, bared back the wires insulation & soldered the ends together, the other wire was on the point of breaking so cut it and did the same, fitted them back into the retaining channels, they are reasonably close to each other so there is a chance of them shorting together when head unit flexes, so I put a blob of silicon sealant on them to insulate them, put it back together and away it went, tools require Torx screwdriver & Phillips screwdriver, multimeter optional, if you haven't got one, just go have a look to see if the wires are broken, time taken approx 1 hour, most of this is working out how it comes apart.

    My vacuum is very clean and it still would not spin after taking it to bits; so I took it to bits again and removed the brush head motor and noticed that the cogs which spin the motor (located inside the black stick) were dry. Sprayed with WD40 and it works like new.

    Good video, however, I have a problem with a different model (Dyson V8 Animal) that you might have sage advice for. I have 3 different powerhead attachments. All at once none of them will work. I have tried them all with and without the extension wand. I checked the appliance power output to the extension wand and powerheads, measured at about 20.5 VDC so contacts don't seem to be the issue. It doesn't make sense that all 3 powerheads went down at the same time. What should the power powerheads output be? Does anyone know? Any sound advice is appreciated. Thanks. Jim

    • @jimgordon5032
      @jimgordon5032 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I contacted Dyson Canada. They couldn't give me advice on the rare circumstance that all three powerheads, less than a year old, quit at the same time. However, they agreed to replace them at no cost. I am still at odds for the reason they do not work.

    Yebbuttt?? I had already done all that. Had the whole head apart, checked everything, but the damn brush still keeps stopping when I am using the thing. If I operate the machine on my lap, and try to stop the brush by hand, it is impossibe to stop it, as it is very strong. But the moment you put the machine to the floor, and start to use it, the brush stops. If you let go of the trigger and start it again, it re-starts. Sometime it will be fine and normal for a few seconds, but then it stops. Doesn't matter if it on carpet, or flat hard surface. Help!!

      @@srivera6111 No. He didn't. But I sussed it finally. I isolated the fault, by plugging the brush head directly into the bin. The connection was bad - wobbly and the bin socket seemed loose. I've sent for another bin from ebay. I am pretty sure it is due to poor design. The bin/stem tube connection takes a lot of stress due to the leverage when using the machine.

    • @nigelperry8863
      @nigelperry8863 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@srivera6111 My second reply to you: The new bin arrived, and all is now working perfectly. Bad design. Not enough attention paid the the flexing stress on the wand/bin joint.

    *Overall 5 stars as it's exactly what we wanted,🧼 **allabout.wiki/Dyson-Upright** in terms of cleaning power. Suction is as good as all the reviews state. When we first got it, I first vacuumed with the existing vacuum and then with this, the additional fine dirt that was in the Dyson was gross and convinced me we needed this. We have medium length carpet and a terrier - no issues, I do imagine plush carpets would not work well with this. Also a little too powerful for most bathroom rugs. Great for area **rugs.One** con is the hose, it's great for reaching far away places (ceiling), but is frustrating and hard to use if you're within arm's distance (think couch and floorboards). This is due to the design of the hose having this long metal rod for extension. Also, I haven't figured out how to get the hose back together quickly as it's supposed to nest into the base of the vacuum. This piece might just be user error though.Canister is just like all others, still have to take out the middle insert to get all the dirt out. I often make a mess around the trash as I'm trying to empty it, but the suction picks that right back up.*

    It's not from the hair. It's just a low quality product with a childish engineering. I brought one today and from the first turn-on that brush didn't work. I turned it on/off a few times and magically started running, but not for long... Then while testing it the brush stopped again. It is just a bad product.
