For me, I prefer how the new Bow plays in Wilds! It was fun in World how it works and how strong it was but I love the Tracker and Coating stuff in wilds! It still stays a simple straightforward gameplay but to optimize damage the player need to kinda be alert on their buff! So far, I love everything the weapons offer in WIlds! Hammer and Bow will be my go to!!
I think it was definitely too easy for how good it was in Rise, and World I think it was just fun/balanced iirc, least before iceborne. However I think the tracer just provides too much benefits. The coating change I like, and I'm sure armor skills will alleviate some repetitiveness of applying it (perhaps that one skill that has a chance to not waste ammo like gunners get). Tracer base power feels like we have 5 skills active whenever we shoot it. feels like a G-rank unlock in base game. Hammers great tho! definitely better than Rise for me! can't imagine what the Master rank expansion's gonna add. has to be skills like Rise/GU, we're full on button usage in wilds
@@user-lz5vh9bb5w the thing is that tracer is not just about aim, it literally makes you deal almost twice the damage, so regardless of how good your aim is, not using tracer is just a loss
@@user-lz5vh9bb5wyou would still use it. Not only does it substantially increase your damage per shot it also dramatically increases your range, longer range than bowguns. Using pc controls just ensures you are dropping that tracer exactly where you want it easier.
The bow is the best overall weapon in the game so far. It’s not optimal to dash dance. I find it more optimal to just use bow charge combo into power shot or use dash dance to extend or reset the end of the combo chain. The quick shot is OD as well because it no longer sets your next charge level to 2 in fact it restarts from charge level 1 which is really good. Tracer is the best move in the kit. You can dash dance if you want but tbh tracer (especially with surge on) greatly restores your stamina and tbh your never vulnerable with tracer because if you’re going to get hit you can stop aiming and hold the tracer charge while walking away and your stamina is regenerating and your special gauge also regenerates. The most optimal way to play is at a mid distance using arc shot in place where the monster will be trying to get close to you then as it runs into the arc shot you have placed a tracer on it and are constantly attacking it. Tbh the best way to use tracer is to place it on the monster face and attack from behind the monster because the tracking isn’t accurate and what ends up happening is your arrows wll just hit the nearest weak spot on the monster creating an open wound. Now when you use arc shot to combo into focus it does massive damage. And the monster will always fall over or flinch etc. The bow is easier in this game than in any monster hunter game ever. And I love it.
Yeah when I wanted to just bully a monster I would open up with a tracer with poison arrows. Poison the monster send a tracer switch to power coating and fire off on the tracer until they were done being poisoned and then swap back rinse repeat. And if I got a down I would just instantly do arrow Rain into Carpet Bomb.
Thank you for the explanation on the tracer; I just thought it was simply auto aim and didnt realize what a giant buff it was. Appreciate the video and happy hunting!
Maybe I'm weird... but I don't find a bow more clunky... yes more buttons but it makes a bow even more fun to play and they work quite well together. I love it even more now xD
9:19 Balahara also reveals a weakspot in its mouth/face thing after some ''spit'' attacks, and Doshaguma has one in its belly during one of its attacks where it goes on its hind legs
Really like the Bow in Wilds. I'm going to use this as my secondary weapon I think. SnS for regular combat and setting up a ton of wounds, and then switching to bow to capitalize and go for that big finisher combined with maybe a type of ailment coating to instantly force another opening.
Reminder that quick dragon piercer, what you get from doing a combo, does like half the damage as a regular dragon piercer So if you want to cut a tail or do one big shot you need to stop your combo first. Not that people will often care about it, but I saw someone saying that quick DP makes it worth using now, which isn’t necessarily the case. For cutting tails we lost the meme melee hit and jumping stab so this is bows only way to do slice damage
Found this video via Reddit and i gotta say this is so far by far my favorite guide video format for Wilds. Its not 80% flavor talk that doesn't get to the point ("Look how cool my gunlance is now, I can do this and that!" etc) and a cringy opening line to every video and it also doesn't only talk about the new moves either. Will definitely be watching the other weapon videos too if you put out tutorials for them
thanks a lot! Lotta new people will play Wilds as there first MH game so guides need to cover new player bases as well. Will cover at least half of the weapons upon release so more of this quality to come~ ^^
I like your approach in that comment to other videos , let me add to it. You are now hosteage + Channel statistic talk and support on patreon and my dog got scared of the vacuum cleaner . Buy my merch that is basically ripped from AAA content. That shit is cringe. 🏹
Feels deliberate. 10 seconds is probably how long you can dodge shoot before running out of stamina, so you end that window with one of the 'big moves' that consume the tracer rather than let it run out, right? I was bow only in World, so I'm thinking to try Charge Blade this time to make it feel more like a new game, but I'll probably keep bow on the dino.
yah probably intention. likewise you dodge dance 2x and you end up at low stamina and just about done with coatings as well in that 10 second time frame. so you also want to be perfect dodging at the end to get it all back and start again, which is what speedrunners do rather than one of those "big moves"
As someone who tested out the bow in the beta, i have no idea why this video is so negative about the bow? A lot of changes seem really great and it makes the gameplay way more fun and intresting. (only played mh world)
Its negative that theres a lot of busy work between reapplying the coatings every few shots, to reapplying the tracer every few shots. Extending coatings to 12 and tracer to 15 seconds would do wonders for me. I love it as is, but it would be good for the weapon.
I previously disliked the bow mostly because of the constant dash dancing you had to do to get good performance ... it now feels like just using your tracer+coating will put a lot of strain on your bar so you need to try and utilize these perfect dogdes to give you more bar and I find that way more engaging to play. Also with the tracer the stupid minimum distance is gone which was annoying if the monster just kept charging at you. The perfect dodge seemes to be pretty lenient as well so that its pretty easy to pull off.
@@taymack9725 TBH it didn actually test but when I was backpedaling (walking not dodging) with a Doshaguma in my face it always was optimal range so i might actually be wrong but at least it seemed to not be a problem.
I mean it's still kinda there to upkeep lvl 3 without losing uptime on tracers. Overall I love this new resource systems that reward you for being good. Keeping the pressure on I never found myself without enough gauge to use tracer or coatings.
yah you don't want to spam dodge infinitely, but get low stam > prep to perfect dodge to get it back > dodge dance till low stam > perfect dodge. low gauge? just perfect dodge up a bar instead of "holding r2". basically you need to be perfect dodging as much as possible. agreed its really lenient, vs rise which was more tight iirc
Any reason why you go R2 R2 R2 Circle instead of R2 Circle? If you're gonna add the power shot anyways instead of spamming normal lvl3 shots with tracer may as well spam it more often right? I feel like if it wasn't worth doing it as often as possible it wouldn't be worth doing at all. Also, does charging the tracer to lvl3 do anything?
I also wonder about charging the tracer to 3, I'll test it then report back edit: the damage is the same with full charge tracer and 1 charge tracer, at least for r2 spam
I think the problem with the new bow for me Is that all the busy work of reapplying coatings and applying tracers makes for a not very solo friendly weapon. It's hard to do all that shit when the boss is also in your face and won't leave you alone.
all that matters for Arc is the charge level. tracer arrow is different and is the only one providing all the benefits mentioned. the "lodged" arrows via arc shot only give you the reticle thing, not the dmg bonus and auto aim like tracer (even tho they look the same)
now a lot. at the time of recording there were only 2-3 weapons, now there's like 6-8 i think(people getting better basically). fastest time i seen was sub 5 gunlance, but they abused rock formations in the map to deal 70% of the damage soooo yah. the others are around 4:30 mark now. some weapons still haven't broke sub 6 tho...rip
I'm guessssssing that the optimal combo is whatever that one dude beating Rey Dau without any boulders and stuff in under 5 minutes is doing lol. I prefer to use arc shot and stuff still cuz its fun
I don't have a problem with relying heavily on Tracer arrows, but I do have an issue with the game's overreliance on Frame Generation, which causes input lag (matters esp if you're using a Bow).
Frame gen was meant for people ALREADY at 60fps or above. It makes an already good game better. If you are BELOW 60fps however it doesn’t work well and introduces input delay and inconsistency. They even say this on their own websites about frame gen Developers relying on framegen to fix up their game is bad for like three different reasons.

You have to aim? You have to aim the tracer and you can’t spam tracer. Also using tracers kind of lower your DPS so they’re not amazing and also if you hit the monster with a tracer in a bad spot now all your arrows are going to hit that bad spot. ALSO the tracer only lasts for one combo soooo
Bow main here. I don't really like the fact that tracers make arrows stronger and always lvl3. It feels kinda "cheap", since the trickshot gauge fills immediately anyway. There is no point in aiming manually anymore, it feels so odd...
I definitely wouldn't say new bow is "clunky" (which means "awkward"). I don't think ANY of the weapons are "clunky", because there's no such thing as a well-designed clunky weapon lol. It's busier, 100%. There are more things to manage. Because of that, it also has a higher skill ceiling, which is good.
yah i'm sure skills like razor sharp or maybe a skill that applies coatings on perfect dodge could be possible. so, bow is gonna be REAL strong with skills involved if its this good already. we don't even have proper stamina skills like constitution yet people dont have any stam problems in the beta due to perfect dodge.
