Another tip for your sleeper windows. Get a couple of the windshield sun shades and a roll of Tacky Back Velcro. Line the window frame with the tape and stick the shade on the tape. cut to fit. Now you can remove the shades when you want and it cuts the heat coming in by 90%.
Back when I was driving I hauled hauled loads of Knauf Insulation from Shelbyville, Indiana to Williston, North Dakota. I'm thankful that I never had to help unload the insulation upon delivery. I did have to help unload a load of tires at an American Tires Distributors DC in Kansas City. Never agreed to hauled one of their loads again. Safe travels Kurt. 😊
Take and cut pice of carpet to fit in windows and pice of foil to reflect sun back out go around edge with double sided Velcro to seal up . As for the dust get that when open doors , windows, Opie , and yourself .
When it gets this hot the glue will come undone it's best to get the house styled window tinting get the mirror kind you can see out but not in and it reflects the sun so it will cut down some of the heat but the truck I'm driving doesn't have any thing on the floor board just rubber mat no insulation what so ever I'm gonna change that real soon my feet almost melted last couple days with this hot heat wave
Is First Class going to be entered into Walcott Truckers Jamboree, starts on Thursday. Better yet enter Opie into the Trucker's Best Friend Pet Contest! Got my vote for First place in both divisions.
Hirschbach Motor Lines announced its acquisition of John Christner Trucking (JCT) on February 17, 2022, and the deal was expected to close in April of that year. The acquisition was completed in April 2022, and the two companies are now united as Hirschbach with a joint brand.
Kurt, it's really enjoyable to ride shotgun with you through Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and also down 29. My spouse and I are 20 years retired from the U of MN Hospital, now living in SW Ohio. We traveled much of Iowa over 30 years in search of various antiques and farm toy shows. Many of the roads you talk about we have ventured over. I like the care you exercise on First Class and to hear that kitty purr is truly a symphony by cylinders. Back in the last century I worked at a truck stop in North Dakota while in college. Some of the fellows who came through, like your home on the road, you could have eaten off the floor, others, well, you could almost smell them as they approached the pumps. I avoided much of 74 across Indiana because of the heavy truck traffic by sliding onto 136, at Covington, picking up 32 at Crawfordsville to Noblesville then angling down to 40 and onto 35 into Dayton. Slow but a much more relaxing drive and helped keep my wife of 61 years by my side. lol! That hand looks good. You are fortunate to have not sliced a muscle or tendon. Never miss your ventures. Keeper 'tween the ditches. God Bless.
It's always great when I see you driving through Ceda Rapids. Those white "silos" are containers for Quaker Oats. Yep, Cedar Rapids is the home of Quaker Oats. Thanks for sharing.
Don't know what it is, but watching your videos is addictive. We just left Indy yesterday on our way back to Chattanooga coming from a grandson's baseball tournament and I found myself keeping an eye out for that very nice Kenworth. I'm not a truck driver, although I've been around them in past lives. (jobs) In fact I've learned to despise them in general. You and your videos changed that. Watching you and your professional approach to the job does a good job of resetting my thinking about truckers. There are still a lot of cowboys out there but most are like you. Thanks for the entertainment. Drive safe and avoid the idiots if you can.
That Swift truck with the locks was the decoy. The value load is on one of Swift's rattiest trailers, with a single plastic seal. Reference the movie "Hijack!" from 1973, starring David Janssen and Keenan Wynn.
You might want to consider slipping into tennis shoes and a red knit cardigan sweater after entering the truck and taking off the shoes. Look what it did for Mr. Rogers.
I have just recently started watching your videos and let me say you are such a joy to watch. I love the honesty With the videos and the fact that I feel like you are really talking to me. Keep on doing what you do!
Hello Kurt,, hope your hand gets well soon. The new carpet looking good. . I would have bought another and put that on the wood floor in the bunk area.. . I know you know what you are doing. God bless. Safe travels
Hey Kurt,I'm gonna pull my retired otr, dada, grandpa card and say I'm not mad. Just disappointed that you drive without shoes,or work boots. I know it's your truck, and your the driver. I always went by and still go by the thought of,what if something happened and you needed to stop and either fix something, or help someone in an emergency situation and now you gotta put boots or shoes on. Just how I was taught, and just thought I'd pass it along. P. S. I also figure that you already thought about it and have a plan. Lol. Love the videos, and now I have my 7yo grandson watching them with me. He likes them also. His name is Dean. Have a great day and stay safe.
Retired now but used to run food grade tanker picking up or delivering in Indiana or Michigan. If memory serves me there is both a Pilot and Love's in Plymouth. The love's is newer with good parking. Used to run US30 to I71N in Mansfield, Ohio to I76 or I90. Indiana toll road(I80) mucho denero.
I about jumped out of my chair the first time you videoed driving through my once home town South Haven, Kansas. You always identify where you are and what you are doing. That's what makes your videos addictive. Love the little rural towns.
Great job on those mats, I would not have been able to make a 1 piece mat in front of the seat, would have had to make a separate strip for the side Good to see you eating healthier, keep it up!
I got some dark window tint for the over cab sleeper on my camper. It cut the heat to almost nothing. I hope your hand has healed. Thanks for a nice ride. God bless.
Get ceramic tint. It doesn’t even have to be dark. The light stuff has amazing thermal properties. Much better than regular tint. It costs a little more, but totally worth it and legal everywhere.
Nice shirt you're sporting there Kurt! I rode the dragon for my first time just a few weeks ago. I live about 2 hours from Tazewell / Marion. Ride safe!
My wife is from South Bend, trust me Hyw 31 is not always been that smooth, it has taken about five years to get where they are at now. Love the videos ❤.
Amen to your hand healing up good & clean! I also know of another way you can speed up the healing process- when you get home, have your faaaaavorite “Warden “ give you lots of hugs and smootches, & your hand will be healed up in no time! Also, thank you for keeping 1st Class nice & clean! You’re a man after my own true heart! Keep up the great work, and best wishes to all!
Drivin with no shoes... Nope. I tried it once because a friend of mine kept telling me I needed to try it. It lasted about 5 minutes and that was enough for me. The boots went back on. The floors lookin good. That should make a difference. I bet if you put the reflective insulation on the top sleeper windows that would make a huge difference. The only downside would be if you like to have them uncovered so you can get light in there.
I'm not a doctor, but my opinion is that antibiotic ointment helps speed healing for a cut/wound. You might consider doing that with each bandage change Kurt.
Full time Rv folks use Reflectix on their windows. It's silver, stiff material. You can cut them to fit up inside those windows, then keep the covers up to hide the Reflectix. Rv'ers swear by the stuff. It also might help if it is laid under the rugs in the cab. To reflect the heat/cold back out so you and your little Buddy will be super comfey.
HELLO KURT MAN TRUCK LOOKS SO NICE GOOD WORK ON THE CARPET / INSOLATION ! THE 2 WINDOWS ON THE TOP OF THE SLEEPER I WOULD BUY LEMO WINDOW TENT OR 2 CAR WINDOW SUN SHIELDS & TRY TO CUT TO FIT THEN BUT THE COVERS YOU ALL READY HAVE THEN TRY TO TIGHTEN UP THE GAPS BETWEEN THE SNAPS !! GREAT VIDEO KURT BE BLESSED & BE SAFE ✊✊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🐾🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾🐾
Curt, get some custom made insulated window inserts with reflectix on the side facing the sun. They fit perfectly and will keep the heat from pouring through the windows of your sleeper.
Kurt, use your roll of insulated material to cover those roof top windows, cut to a snug fit to push in edge of the windows & put the leather snap cover back over. Far as road construction goes in my state, the majority of road paving on the highways are done after 9 pm & during the night because of light traffic usually shutting down 1 lane on the highway. They generally pave 2 lane roads during the day stopping traffic at times.
Important comment: you should get commercial grade 1" wide sticky back velcro to modify your sleeper window covers. It works great! Walmart may sell it
Kurt you really need to review either the zero breeze or echo flow battery air conditioner. It will definitely keep your truck cool charge it while you're driving and run it when you're stopped. Alice is running one in her truck because she doesn't have an APU and it seems to be working really well.
I had a freightliner that had a sunroof no cover for it got some rennolds rap like u cook a turkey with covered sunroof use duct tape to hold aluminum foil in place worked great summer and Winter ps get well soon
I think you could be a movie director. Your talent at audio and visual content is very professional, including your ease in front of camera. I was going to write something else....but I've forgotten it......🤔.....
I have experience with ASTROFOIL.. The best thing you can do is put it on the outside of you cab underside. I know that is a difficult job but you will get the best out of it, Cooler in summer, and warmer in winter. Good luck!!
Be careful putting reflective material next to any windows, it could cause expansion and crack or break the glass. I had a friend that put it between the sunroof and the sunroof liner. Broke the sunroof. A clear tint for reflective solar heat would be the ticket. We use it in AZ and it helps! Stay safe!
There is a lot of jobs requiring close attention to details, yours is one of those. You'll spend years attempting to change my point of view in a fruitless pursuit! Thankee for the ride and the video. Stay well.
Hey Homer, If I were you and the cut is not draining, I would not cover it. The more air is gets the quicker it will get tough and heel. Dr. Jerry here. JH Coffee Roaster, Irmo South Carolina USA. Trike owner and Toyota Tundra owner.
My Aero W9, black interior. Black windows covers. I'm going to Lowes or the orange store for the same stuff. Loaded Yakima on Friday. 102. Headed to provo next. Projected at 100 plus. I feel your pain
I run a 579 and i put carpet in the bunk area. Going to put it under bunk also. Probably do some up front too. You talk about the dirt..i change my cabin filter 4 to 6 month. My white German shepherd keeps it busy. Lol i guess she keeps my vac busy also. Stay safe.
Blackout tint windows. Windows that rarely you open, thin reflective tape\velcro on insulation panels. Then add a few extra snaps to your window snap covers. Tighter the better. The few dollars goes along way on comfort.
Hey keep that truck cooler in the summertime and warmer in the winter. Get one of those guys to come to your house and put that insulated insulated foam in your truck. That’s what I did to my W 900 studio sleeper it helped at 100%.
Hirschbach bought out John Chritsner Trucking. I have friends that drive for JCT. They are in the process of changing all the decals on the JCT trucks over.
Good carpet job Schmidter, and your hand is looking good too. Keep kickin out the vlogs. The fishing is not the best here at Lighthouse Cove, Ontario too bloody hot, be safe out there.
I love your video's I was born in Knoxville Iowa but I have lived most of my life in Kansas if you are ever through Emporia Kansas and have the time to stop I would love to buy the Germen a cheeseburger

Hi Kurt/ Dork. How are All U doing!? Sorry Hear bout UR Hand! Hope Gets better Soon!! Like the Video and Scenery!! U Should Buy a Portable AC unit from HSN or Somewhere/ Alice and Martin Have 1!!, Plug into Inverter or Use Ur Power Station with Solar Panels and Be NO NEED to Idle Truck and STAY COOL!!! If TRULY WANT Insulate Floor and Inner Walls of Sleeper for Sound and Heat/Cooling Buy DURAMAT or Something as That! That's What Most Custom Builders Use When Building Vehicles from Ground, Up!! Another thing you can do is have your back windows tinted that looks nice and will help to cool your truck or get different color windows covers not black that color attracts heat
Another tip for your sleeper windows. Get a couple of the windshield sun shades and a roll of Tacky Back Velcro. Line the window frame with the tape and stick the shade on the tape. cut to fit. Now you can remove the shades when you want and it cuts the heat coming in by 90%.
Yea, the curse of the aerodyne windows
Tinting the window would help also but love the idea I may steal it lol.

Kurt get a GOLF GLOVE.....Golf Glove.....Golf Glove It will be snug, hold nthe bandage on and keep it clean.
Once U reseal everything in the interior of 1st Class it would DEFINITELY be AWESOME
Is First Class going to be entered into Walcott Truckers Jamboree, starts on Thursday. Better yet enter Opie into the Trucker's Best Friend Pet Contest! Got my vote for First place in both divisions.

Hey Kurt find some vitamin E capsuls, prick them with a pin and squeeze that on your cut before you wrap it. Good day sir love the channel.
Hello Kurt,, hope your hand gets well soon. The new carpet looking good. . I would have bought another and put that on the wood floor in the bunk area.. . I know you know what you are doing. God bless. Safe travels
Man, I didn't know a celebrity was coming to town. You were within 10 miles of my place. Keep it between the fences.

Glad you made it though Indy without getting shot at. Seems to be the norm anymore. Keep safe Kurt.
Handy man Schmidt strikes again trying to stay cool.
Lol I wouldn't call me handy.

Rugs look great on drivers side
You should be taping aluminum foil to those windows at the start it will reflect the heat and help keep the interior cool.
Hand looks ok.
Wishing I was still trucking but with a manual
Gr8 radiant barrier in everything will help out
Safe Travels out there
Kurt, when you were in Plymouth Indiana you were 30 miles from me! Highway 31 was just recently repaved. Love your channel
Yes the micro plastics in the water will help seal the wound 🙃
I love your video's I was born in Knoxville Iowa but I have lived most of my life in Kansas if you are ever through Emporia Kansas and have the time to stop I would love to buy the Germen a cheeseburger
I thought ouch when I saw your bandaged hand cutting that carpet. Hope all that work pays off for a more comfortable office for you.
I used to have a nice thick bathmate for inf4ont of the driver seat, so soft and comfy. I take my shoes off too
You’re going to need a Hood paint job soon. Hope your hands heals quickly
Get a baseball glove or better yet a bowling glove with fingers open and good padded for bandage .
I believe that 31 (I call it the 31 bypass - you may remember the old 31 that was Meridian St. in downtown Indy, and runs all the way up to the MI state line) is 65. Raised in South Bend, IN, and travel that way often.
Great video. Driving with no.shoes in is against the law in my state.
I was reading an article today there are delivery compnies in CA hiring security for their drivers
Mr. Kurt, I’m a-little surprised you don’t have an air gun. You can find them at every truck stop. They splice into your air hose going to your seat. They instal in five minutes with air quick connectors. No tools necessary! And blow all the dust out. Absolutely no need to take out your seats!!
All my dam food ends up down there lol.
Plymouth IN, my backyard.. would have loved to meet ya. Have a good one and stay safe!
Hi Kurt/ Dork. How are All U doing!? Sorry Hear bout UR Hand! Hope Gets better Soon!! Like the Video and Scenery!! U Should Buy a Portable AC unit from HSN or Somewhere/ Alice and Martin Have 1!!, Plug into Inverter or Use Ur Power Station with Solar Panels and Be NO NEED to Idle Truck and STAY COOL!!! i see that you and Alice fought the same bear ;]
That's a fast moving, far ranging bear but I agree
Another thing you can do is have your back windows tinted that looks nice and will help to cool your truck or get different color windows covers not black that color attracts heat
Great video carpet looks nice careful with your hand bro
hand looks better than in the other video!! Just be careful and not pull those stitches!! Floor looks good!!
