- On this episode of Murphys Diesel Wrecker Rick and Mrs. Wrecker Rick embark on a road trip to Tennessee to see her family for a few weeks. 800 Miles away from home they find themselves broke down on the side of the road with the welding rig and their 47' Toy hauler thanks to ol De Niro.
Without the parts needed available and on national back order there is only one thing they could do. Follow along to see how this story turns out.

This is a crappy situation but remember that if that happens to you and you are in a position to just purchase $100,000 dollar truck and have it delivered to the side of the road within an hour or two, you are still very very blessed. I know you've worked your tail off to be in that position but still. For about %90 of people that would have been a vacation ender, and a very tough situation to recover from with the cost of the tow and repairs. That's a beauty of a new truck!! Good luck with the rest of the vacation!

As for De Niro, lessons sometimes have to be learned the hard way. Having your engine let go due to his inattention and leaving you stranded is far more serious that him using your fuel card.

Nothing worse... after owning my own towing business for 20 plus years, it really sucks when you have to be towed yourself. I feel your pain.

Why I do my own oil changes and minor maintenance. Only after taking my brand new Powerstroke in for it's first oil change, only to find 4 hours later a pool of oil under the truck. Grabbed the oil filter and was hanging on by it's last threads. I don't have the luxury of having new trucks delivered to me so it's doing my own maintenance for me.
I have to say ,you pulled that off with style and class Rick. Hope you folks have a good rest of your vacation. Thanks for taking us along Rick,I feel sorry for Dinero lol.

Kind of reminds me of my vacation back in 1978, I was home, and my truck was in the shop and wanted to go somewhere and have fun, I decided I was going to walk downtown to see if my truck was ready at the dealer and if it wasn't I wasn't walking home, I drove home in a New black 1978 Trans Am that day LOL.😆
The good ol days! If we only had TH-cam back then! I love the old stories! Makes me miss my youth listening to my dad and grand dad for hours telling good ol boy stories

In years past, to keep going down the road, after something hit my radiator and ruined a couple rows, I took a knife, cut out the fins around the rows, split the row in two, and used needle nose pliers to roll and pinch the rows off. It'll work in a, no pun intended, pinch.

I got to say man I truly like watching your videos and I’m a truck driver myself. I couldn’t even begin to say how much I would love you work for a guy like you because you and I are a lot a like. If you were near me I would have let you use my 2019 Chevrolet 3500 6.6L Duramax diesel truck so you and your family could enjoy the rest of your vacation.
But I truly would like to say thank you for everything you do, we need more people like you out there.

Sick new dually
Just got finished watching Casey LaDelle sitting on the side of a highway in the near 100 degree heat and then I watch this. You 2 are having a Telepathic moment. This 2nd week of July 2024 will be extra hot in the East and when the Murphy family gets back home it will be twice as hot. Since you bought a Black truck, be sure to do a video when you get home on how to fry an egg or two on your vinyl wrapped hood. Could be 120-125 by the end of the week in Phoenix. Sunday it was 130 in Death Valley, Same dummies as last year doing a selfie in front of the digital thermometer. I would think their 4 cylinder car with A/C would overheat just trying to get to the Death Valley Visitor Center. I-40 during the day in Arizona looks like a trucker convoy, these are the smart drivers that know not to drive through Death Valley during the day. Oregon is seeing super hot temperatures too!

Happened to me once, I had to walk to autozone, got some quick steel epoxy and 2 gals of coolant, I stuffed the radiator with the quick steel, waited 2 hrs, bleed it, then made it home. Watched that needle like a hawk. Temp fix quickly became a permanent fix 😂. Never had an issue with it, but a few years later, I changed it for a piece of mind.
Good Ol’ Western Oklahoma folks. I grew up about 45min from Elk City. Good people everywhere you look in those parts.
thats crazy! same thing happened to me in Texas i was towing a car i just bought with my 2500hd and the main drive belt went, i pulled over in the middle of no where and my idler pulley had seized i had a complete stranger pull over on the side of the road and take me to the parts store to buy a new idler pulley and belt and even take me back to my truck. the people at the parts store even were trying to offer me a ride as well such nice people. thankfully when i got back my truck and trailer was still there. i would have taken the car i just bought but funny enough that car i purchased needed a radiator so it was no good to me at the time! One day i'll be in the position to just be able to buy another truck on the spot that seemed really great yall were able to do that. i tried to give the guy $50 who gave me a ride and he told me to keep it and just pay it forwards!

Just got stranded with my kids and wife today in my SUV. Man...i for some reason chose the right exit to get off in a town and everyone from autoparts store and shop to put my alternator on. Found aome really helpful guys from all around in that city. Crazy, the man above tested me today. I conquered today with no negative energy and was positive the whole time. Crazy, when you are positive it all works out. Sometimes your patience, attitude, conviction, is test. I prevailed and believed

The fab job in the dealership parking lot, that is something like I would do LoL!!! Loved the video.
Had a similar issue on the interstate once. Bottom of the radiator came loose and blew into the fan blades and carved a banana shape and cut it to the radiator. Had some JB Quick weld and packed it i to the radiator where it was leaking. Refilled with water from a cooler I had with melted ice. Radiator held for 4 years then I sold the truck. Glad everyone was safe and you made it home.
Suck to be stranded but At least you did what you did and keep your family happy at the end of the day is good to have the knowledge that you have so no one be in panic mode that new ram 2500 is beautiful stay bless keep up the good content 💯

Reminds me of when I was about 8 and my dad blew up our old car back in the 1950's a long way from home. Belt gone and rad and cylinder head too (still had brakes and steering as they didn't have stupid power assist things back then). Towed to the nearest city and new vehicle bought; I remember the hotel being pretty boring. You got good people there Wrecker Rick, Enjoy your vacation.
