Hag gets alot worse if survivors actually look for and destroy her traps in relevant areas before they trigger or trigger them while you are holding a survivor, yes it costs them time but it has also cost you time to set them up also and now you are not getting much value from your power. That said all it takes is one lazy or clueless survivor to keep triggering them for you to keep getting alot of value. Also if they are smart about which gens they do before you have a 3 gen or 4 gen. Also like trapper she benefits from grass to hide her traps so she is alot worse on certain maps.
hag is like skull merchant. A lot of player in dbd don't understand value of playing defensively as a killer. they only rate killer's strength by their offensive capacity. I think this is same thing with trapper. lots of player rate trapper as worst killer in the game but he really isn't and hag is no different. If you go against comp squad that Leaves survivors to die on hook, Rushes gens like crazy and splits map properly while not giving hag, a weak chase killer a hook without severe zoning then yes Hag is D-tier, arguably worst killer in the game, even past freddy HOWEVER, 99% of matches in dbd are not this. So honestly, tiering of trapping based killers highly depends on survivors competency. If your making an absolute list of strongest to weakest vs 4 man swf, than yes hag, merchant, and trapper are among worst killers in the game, but if your making tier list for average strength of soloq match no coordination, than these killer are somewhere in the middle because player don't take extra effort to make these killers bad. Like there is still people to this day that cannot follow trapper entire match and just disable his traps. there are still people to do this day that go down to 4.4 m/s hag and don't understand how to gen-rush hag and spreads gen. there are still people to this day that don't understand to crouch skull merchant drones and disable them to break 3 gens. as result of all these problems, these killer end up being a lot stronger than they're suppose to be.
every time I get Hag daily, I play her with Waterlogged Shoe and Scarred Hand, because it's fun to play just Wraith but with no Cloak. Then I end game and remember that her daily requires to teleport.... I get into this trap every time
I personally think that most people on this game are used to completely one sided games. They either see a killer with 2-3 hooks before the first gen is done and think that it is going to be a 4k, or they see a killer that got his first down at 2 gens and think that it is an easy 4 surv scape. So for that reason when most players play killers designed to have a slow start and they indeed get a "bad start" even if they do not realize they do not play to win thinking that they've alredy lost. One of the things I love the most about this game is how a single mistake done by any side can rapidly change the outcome of a game, and the hag is one of those killers that can eaisly snowball after one single survivor does a mistake
A good hag player will wear down the survivors overtime, usually after their medkit depletes or the hag has franklins, the survivors always loses the battle of attrition
Every killer has it's own progression's curve throught a match, even killers that can have a really good start can struggle on middle and end game situations, so i agree with You.
I´m a Surv main and everytime two or three gens popping without anything happen from the Killer side, I start getting nervous. Often that is the point where Tombstone Myers starts his work or killers like the Hag or Trapper has their trap net ready.
I played my hag against some streamers and most of them where pissed or felt hopeless because of the insta teleports. Even with the nerfs to her power and core perks like corrupt and ruin , I would say she is an A tier killer. I only think of 2 main reasons of why some people would think The Hag is bad : 1) Her setup time. 2) They have the reflexes of a slug.
I think she can be rough against a coordinated team or one that knows what their doing to counter her. Which could be true for a lot of killers, but being able to work together to distract the killer from her traps as you disarm them, or lead the Hag away to be out of teleport range can be extra devastating to Hag.
i used to main her aswell and i agree she is defnitly not as bad as people think, but i can really agree with A tier since coordinated teams just destroy her. At least for me popping lik 3 or 4 traps in 10 seconds makes it really hard to do anything, even if the survivors dont cleanse the Traps. then again i would also argue high B so a low A is also nothing to argue about imo
@@ookam9685 On reaction , you hear a trap activates and immediately hit the teleport button , always a free hit. A way of practicing this is by not mashing the teleport button , be patient with the traps and wait for the right time , you get used to it at the end.
The thing with Hag IMO is that to play her well, you have to be able to play Hag Minded. You can't as easily just jump in for a daily and play her like the other guys. Other set up killers need this too, but I'd say Hag needs it most of all. If you cant get Hag Minded, youre not going to do well with her. If you CAN, then you get those crazy hag mains that do all sorts of bullshit with her
Exactly. Even Trapper chases more than her. She feels more akin to a trap based scratched mirror Myers than anything. Because she will NEVER chase when she can focus on ambushes.
The hag is a killer you need to use your brain to make it op, which is bad since my brain has already decomposed after hearing the second sound thingy of when your trap is triggered, but I’m too far away to teleport
@@woodpecker8116 We are simple creatures with simple pleasures. I run fast and go stab with metal chase music as funny Frank man; and that's all for me. If I gave more of a shit & had the ability to multitask under pressure though, i'd definitely main Singularity cause I think that killer is dope, but alas, my brain activity is more akin to a rock than it is to a normal human being lmao
In my Opinion, the Hag is really good at closing off area's and creating webs which can set off chain reactions of triggering traps with a huge snowball potential. She's a very omnipresent killer in a sense where she's seemingly everywhere at the same time if the traps are placed decently well. Despite being a 4,4 killer, I feel like she's a mid/high A tier Killer.
@@DerPekko no way, she is no longer close to A Tier, she's only that high if your playing against noobs, but Hag, she gets massively outclassed by so many killers especially the killers that are similar to her can do stuff that she can do but 10× better, Singularity and Unknown are prime examples they both are similar to Hag, but they move at 115% and she still stuck at 110%, Unknown has the smoothest teleport in the entire game and it's map wide, Singularity, tags a survivor, tp on to them and then Overclock is engaged and Larry says f**k your pallet stuns I'm just gonna bulldoze through and get a hit, and survivors have to grab an EMP plus they have to get the printer to go overwise the biopods go brrrr
@@kingflash6972singularity I agree with, but unknown is not classified under that nor should he be considering his tp doesn’t happen on command. He’s a much more viable killer to deal with traps, whereas hag has a sort of stealth to her traps.
@@kingflash6972 As a Single Larry main, wtf are you talking about dawg? The only other area denial killers are Trapper and Skull Merchant, and she shits on both of them. Just because a killer has a TP function, doesn't mean they're like Hag. A good hag will dominate games, a good Trapper is still mostly luck. Unknown is a ranged killer, closer to Huntress than he is to Hag. Larry isn't even a true area denial killer. His power can sometimes, under certain circumstances deny an area, but 90% of the time, his cameras exist just to land a pod. If you play him like Trapper/Hag, you will lose every single time. I know because that's how I used to play him on release, and I thought he was dogshit until I watched someone else play him.
Whenever I face against a Hag, they either 4K at 3-4 gens or they get like 2 hooks. Hag feels like a very momentum based defensive killer. If you don't get your web set up and a down the game is already over. But the second that web is even somewhat set up and there's a down in it, it snowballs really hard. I think Hag also takes a certain type of player to play well. You have to be really observant with what's happening on the map.
It’s so easy to set up because people hop on the first gen they see. Tip as hag is to setup on the half of the map you spawn in. Trapper would be just as good if he actually started with his traps and Hag is proof of this.
I actually disagree she's momentum based. She's more attrition based than momentum based. Because even if they pull back and reset, you set up your web MUCH faster than a killer like Trapper. She doesn't need to Snowball, and unlike trapper she can't turn a basement into a 4 hook situation so much as continual trades to wear them down. Hag is countered by extreme efficiency, especially on healing. If survivors can quickly and repeatedly heal she runs into issues.
Ive always loved otz attitude. He is a genuine dude. Like he gets so hype or takes a challenge to heart. Most wouldnt let a random chatter being negative impact them and would just ignore them. But otz takes it as a challenge to prove them wrong. It just shows that he pays attention to his viewers and even if they may be upsetting at times usually can spin the situation to be a positive one.
@@notOtzdarvayou’re doing your best though, that’s what matters. Nobodies perfect. I’ve always looked up to your determination and attitude in a way. Keep doing what you’re doing king
A hag 1 trick go against a top tier comp team. A series of games in a balanced scenario where both sides know how to play as/against her will be the only true way to show all her strengths and weaknesses.
If it was god RNG badham 4 (worst map) with Hags meme add-ons all survivors start the trial separated offering against team Elysium with the most broken builds 4k at 5gens
Just played 7 games yesterday with her and 4k'd 6 games with 2 or 3 gens left. Shes definitely up there. Its all about trap placement. Not a chase killer. Once you start chasing longer than 20 seconds, its over. I usually do hit and run with her; get everyone injured as often as possible and then the traps do the rest. If you are an experienced killer or even surviver and know the maps, you know where to put your web of traps. Around the gens that are being repaired ofc. aswell but mostly where survivors would try to run and loop you. Maybe let 1-2 or even 3 gens drop to reduce the playing field and Hag is really powerful.
In my opinion, the thing that makes hag so divisive is the fact that she goes into the match with one gimmick, and if that gimmick doesn’t work there isn’t much you can do to adapt. With other killers, you have alternatives if you can’t use your power, usually M1 or some other alternative strategy. Or, in the case of say ranged killers, your power is so largely applicable that it can fit many sitautions. Hag needs to defend an area with her traps or prepare loops before hand, and if survivor prevent you from doing so by either breaking your defensible area or disabling your traps efficiently and harassing you, there isn’t much you can do because you are 4.4. She wins if survivors play into your gameplan, but if survivors take it slow and harass you, there isn’t much you can do.
How the fuck are they gonna "harass" you by activating traps? You always get a hit or two and if they take the time to try and locate your traps, they're already wasting time, and even if they play around the traps by crouching, that's also a lot of time wasted, and you don't even need to do a 3 gen just prepare the overall map, you can trap in a lot of ways and is impossible to loop you if you're a little bit intelligent.
Ahh Hag...aka, Trapper 2.0, aka Proto-Skull Merchant. ("The Queen of 3-Gen in Exile") Hag's viability primarily comes down to two things: 1) The Hag player's map knowledge and pathing 2) How knowledgeable and willing the survivors are to play Hag's game Otz says Hag is very strong in public matches and that is very true...but she is in fact very, very weak if survivors flip the table on her, and make Hag play THEIR game instead. Because Hag's power is very defensive and reactionary, experienced players will know how to do this. Fortunately for Hag, most of the survivor mains who used to face her regularly quit DBD a while back, and even today, most of the old Hag mains quit DBD during the mass-exodus of Killer mains back in late 2021 when Boon: Circle of Healing arrived to absolutely ruin the meta of most M1 killers. So even though B:COH has been nerfed into obscurity today, most of the current DBD players don't play either as Hag or against Hag to know how to counter her. The secret: Learn how to crouch-walk and how to stalk her, then disarm her traps and pressure objectives when she fails to detect you, or chases someone to the perimeter of her territory. Treat her like a Trapper, who doesn't have to pick their traps up and just frustrate the hell out of her. Without her traps, Hag is beyond pathetic, as her regular chase is the weakest in the game. Having one or two survivors carefully maintaining surveillance on her while one or two others cranks gens will slowly but surely beat her, but you have to be PATIENT and you have to understand Hag's limitations. Hag is NOT made to play the traditional slowdown heavy M1 chaser game; in fact, Hag wants to close down safe loops by bookending them, and then flushing people through their favorite loops, only to tele-bonk them by surprise. This is what I mean by making people play your game vs theirs; Hag excels at this sort of dynamic more than nearly any other killer in DBD, but is so reliant on it to win, that she becomes easily beaten by it too. Unfortunately, this has the effect of making proper games against Hag long, dull wars of attrition...there's a reason why I call her "Proto-Skull Merchant".
Hag was the original "chess killer", before that skull merchant main destroyed this term forever. You have to carefully place traps in a way the entire team of survivors get snowballed when occasionally they are forced to enter your "web". Then the game just ends...
From a Hag main: I will never stop defending my gal from people who claim her to be a bad Killer. Does she have issues? 100%. Can she stomp a 4k every game? Certainly not. But she is by no means bad. One of the problems she does face though is that her strength is rather varied depending on the game. If its a good map for her, like the Léry's at the start of the game, you barely have to think about the game. If its a bad map like Eyrie, there's a lot more planning to be done for an effective game. She also excels against solo players due to the naturally unorganised nature of them versus full teams who can easily keep an eye on you and communicate what you're up to. There is also the matter of how people play, as people playing overly altruistic can often lead to them causing problems for themselves, when a lot of time could be spent just doing gens that she can't defend easily due to a lack of natural mobility. But any list that drops her into a tier with the likes of Freddy or Myers is just plain wrong, as thats where Killers REALLY have problems
So she auto-loses to SWF, and is also map dependent. Seems like a Freddy-tier killer to me. I could tell Otz's conclusion she was strong was skewed when I saw this compilation of survivors trading from basement over and over. Just thinking about facing survivors who know her counterplay makes me not want to play her. Them being able to simply wipe away her traps alone makes her weaker, but they usually supplement that with just running into her traps on purpose, screwing up your web in seconds when you took like a minute to make it. They usually don't get hit from doing that either because they always somehow know to do the spin tech. I've played her since she was buffed, and I didn't notice a difference in that. Even with an instant tp, sometimes you're still running for 2+ seconds just to catch them, which they can use to get to the pallet/window. Maybe it's me. Maybe my matches are skewed, because I never face a team who doesn't know her exact counterplay. But it's the same argument I make against SWF. If your win depends on having a favorable map, not facing SWF, or not facing good players, the killer is bad. This killer just amplifies that infuration because you spend all this time setting up, and it just doesn't do anything, like Trapper or Singularity.
@@vpotniarz8076 Yeah but some people treat Hag like she's some kind of anomaly like Nurse or Blight who just doesn't care if it's SWF. She definitely cares.
@@danielmaster8776 I’m not saying that she can’t win on those tougher maps, she just has to think a bit harder. It has also gotten easier for her with maps being shrunken down a bit but there are still outliers to be had. I’d say off the top of my head around 60-70% of maps are pretty evenly matched and come down to how people play. Singularity is by no means a bad Killer, and especially now is in a pretty good place, but if you find yourself on any indoor map with Hux it’ll feel like your ankles are permanently broken. Lots of Killers have their problems with map variety, just that her highs and lows are a bit different is all
Ahh Hag my swamp queen, the killer who i began my dbd journey with, the first killer who i really began grinding this game & pushing ranks with back when ranks meant something. She isnt the strongest killer but she isnt the weakest like some people seem to think, her unpopularity is a factor & a bonus. This is a killer who i love and appreciate so much i pushed her to P100. :)
Thanks for covering this. Haven’t seen you play hag in quite forever honestly. Hag Spirit and pig are my main killers I love to run. You really don’t see hags daily atleast in my games so I feel people forget how to counter her. Specially with her teleporting on hook and her ability to be small and kind of blend her way into the environment makes her such a good strong killer.
You proved hag is amazing, hatch is gimiky in its own right and a 3k with a hatch escape is definitely a killer win and with no perks, you definitely proved it
I used to be a Hag main when i first got DbD and at first she was really strong. I played her sometime ago and she's just as good as i remember. Maybe even better because i got more killer experience
This is beautiful to see, as a Hag main I always get mad when people underestimate Hag. She’s a really good killer that deserve to be respected. She’s definitely A+ or A tier, for me survivors control my power if you know how to counter her it can be challenging. But most people don’t know how to counter her, which is why I believe she that far up in the tier list.
Plenty of dbd games are decided on one moment of snowball for the killer. And Hag can damn well snowball, especially when she gets a few people injured. Often people have mindset to just rush gens and not have a person harassing her for most of the game what can really make her struggle. Kind off like with trapper
But well trapper has to have a person step exactly into a trap, cannot tp to it, has to pick up the traps from often awkward places and has a limited slots on traps and traps xd
I haven't played in a few years, but when I did play Hag was straight up my main. Trapping both sides of a pallet and mind-gaming people into dropping it and then taking a hit anyways is just brutal, and you get to ignore so many things survivors can try as you mention.
The Hag is like Michael Myers... it varies on circumstances. Get survivors who are familiar with her and you have a bad setup.... you will have a bad day. Go against the right survivors on the right map... you will own. The thing is you rarely see the hag played, so people don't get much experience with her. She either excels or suffers.
Yep. I don't play Myers much, and I've never tried Tombstone, so I don't usually have very easy games with him. I usually get kinda dunked on. But one match ... I loaded into Eyrie of Crows with a fairly standard build. Didn't feel great. I realized a survivor was on a generator behind main in one of those little gyms. They couldn't see me, and I was able to sneak close ... really close. I yoinked them and was surprised when two more survivors scurried off the gen like rats. I lashed out with an M1 and connected a hit ... and then they just panicked. They kept swarming me, and I just kept swinging. In about 15 seconds I went from being sad about playing Myers on Eyrie to having three downs. I just stared down at the two left on the floor, wiggling sadly, in disbelief. I was still in Tier 1 with zero stalk progress. Sometimes you just get good games, lol.
Myers is always a steamroll, when I play against Myers my team either steamrolls or gets steamrolled. I like having really fair & balanced games but obviously that’s delusional because every killer is different. If the killer is too good I don’t have fun, if the killer is really bad I feel like shit, but if the killer is just right I have a lot of fun. Myers is either sad or annoying, that’s why I don’t like facing Myers and a lot of other killers, in general I think some killers I just simply can’t enjoy playing against unless there really bad or new to the character. Killers like Billy, Knight, Blight, Clown, Spirit are usually games where I don’t enjoy unless they’re bad or around my skill level.
I unlocked hag recently, playing a couple of games with her. And as someone who played DBD for a bit over half a year now I found a few things that might throw "newer" players off (personal opinion incoming): 1. She's 110. I wiffed with her quite regulary before adapting to the lesser movementspeed. 2. You need to know when to chase and when not to. And if you decide wrong it's quite punishing with her. 3. You need to get a feeling for distances. Traps have a range after all. 4. You need to identify high traffic areas and strong loops. 5. Where exactly should you put your trap at those? 6. You might get a bit disorientated after a teleport. 7. Pressure or redoing traps? 8. Breath in, breath out. You will loose gens in the beginning. Don't panic. (Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic... 😅) She is different from most killers and you need a lot of map/game awareness. Sending myself to a small(ish) map that I know to some degree helped a lot. You can't just hop on her for a match or two, you really need to get into a "hag mindset". But after realizing how she works (more or less) it's quite fun to play as her.
Hag seems (to me at least) like a very strong killer, somewhere in A tier, but just a struggle for newer players who dont know how to get a good start and sometimes a little boring tbh. Her addons definetly make her shine IMO. The traps that bodyblock or dont tell survivors they're triggered are my favorites, but I don't know if they'd make her better per se
Literally used hag in chaos shuffle and had players complain that I protected gens too well so could be that newer players don't know how to go against her in alot of situations...
I think Hag is in a similar boat to Myers now where basekit, for most players, she is OK and can do some damage but not very much without incorporating a lot of tunneling/camping into your gameplay. Once you slap on addons however her strength skyrockets and she suddenly becomes unfair with things like silent traps, bodyblocker, and tinnitus simulator
The main reason I dislike Hag is that almost every game devolves into her proxy camping and forcing hook trades without ever committing to a chase unless free hits fall into her lap. Strategic area denial sounds like an interesting concept on paper, but in practice her trap placement ends up being used for 3 genning and camping rather than any kind of interesting anti-loop
Either way, that's doable. Do the gens and hook trade, or break/overcome the 3-gen. Anytime I face Hag, it's always me force triggering her traps, with the rest of my team getting downed by a 110% constantly. If there was a whole team of me, she'd never win.
@@danielmaster8776 Brute forcing through a match isn't fun. Its about as boring as gen rushing a face camping bubba before the guy dies on hook. Its just holding m1 on gens because the killer decided to be lame.
@@ssspike1696 But that's what it takes to win? Look, if your team is not with it, and they just let the killer clown on them, I get the frustration. But a decent team should be beating those strategies without much difficulty. Your buzz words don't change the nature of the situation.
Disagree. Knowing exactly where to put traps to catch survivors off guard is harder than some people think. Yeah there were hook trades in this game but Otz was also playing with 0 perks and addons. Playing nasty is necessary in this instance
But why commit to a chase with hag? Feels just weird and could cost you a lot of time followed by gens and the game. Kind of like not blocking with wraith or not go basement as trapper. I mean i get it that you dislike it, we all dislike one or more killer for me its nurse because i cant last long in chase against her. But i still have fun by trying my best too squeeze one more second out of it. Or when you try to get the 4 escape on a camping killer.Or when you face a full sfw and they destroy you so fast that you are happy to get that 1 kill.
Hag is probably my favorite killer nowadays to play. I play her very offensively, with Monitor and Abuse, BBQ, Nurse's Calling and Surge. Trap up places where survivors generally go in chases (they'll stay in cover when moving about normally but run directly to vault / pallet spots when in chase, so take advantage of this.) Don't waste traps on hooks, because I want them to unhook. More bloodpoints for me if they do! No matter how you play her, though, you can apply so much pressure with the proper preparation. It's not uncommon to have two generators pop before I get into my first chase, but by the time the fourth gen pops, I have two kills and nine hooks down. That's the power of offensive Hag. ...Defensive Hag, though, is not so fun. I don't know why you need eight traps around that one hooked survivor, but I feel like you're missing some of the fun here.
I can tell by your perk choices and how you articulate how you use Hag that you get the gist of how she's supposed to be played. She's an early bird killer. Applying pressure to the survivors immediately is the way for her. Everyone else gets her strategy wrong off the get go and attempts to play her defensively. I made charts on how to play all the killers properly but folks are hard headed..they'd rather play a killer *their* way
I’m a minute in, but by design I think the hag will always be fairly decent. Unlike trapper, she doesn’t need to pick up her traps, larger radius, harder to see through grass, free slow unhooking, somewhat forced altruism with less skilled and non comm teams. Decent addons too I put her mentally in a B tier with wiggle room to be slightly higher based on map and loadout pretty much at any given time
I'm a hard hag main, still learning but I wouldn't say I'm bad with her. Imo she is very strong in the right hands but she has some major flaws that would need some buffing. For example if a survivor knows how to safely trigger her traps (i.e run the very outer edge of it and instantly w key away, the hag can't hit them no matter how fast she tp's there, no matter if she has coup and other lunge perks, she. can't. hit.), it can be impossible to catch those survivors. And they will usually bother you and disable all of your setup, and suddenly you're a super slow m1 killer with no power. You can try to use the camswing effect to your advantage when placing traps but good survivors will still outplay you. I feel like if she got buffed so she is at least physically able to hit survivors even if they trigger the trap outer edge and w key away, she'd become a way better reliable killer, and it would give her a chance to fight back against those survivors intentionally following you and taking away your entire power with nothing you can do about it. Genrush and healing is also rough against her, but if you play well you can still win against that. If I'm lucky I win the game at 5 gens, but more commonly everyone is dead between 1-3 gens, unless they know how to play against me, then I can't do much but keep trying to set up unexpected traps and try to chase normally.. I usually don't even get a hook until 3 gens left, but still win since that's when my web is done and survivors start running into my traps. On a normal killer that would pretty much be a doomed game already, but that's just how hag works. Overall though, she is not a weak killer if you know how to play her, but imo she needs some buffs to give her a chance against really good teams.
I believe Leatherface is also one of the most underrated killers espesically since his recent buff. With every use of his power you either get an insta down or break a pallet and are in range again for an insta down AND its super easy to use. He takes a huge chunk of the survivor skill out of chase. He doesn't even need addons either, I haven't lost a game with him as of yet. Top of B tier possibly low A I think.
The Hag is one of the best killers in the game imo. She just requires patience & adaptability, which most people don't have. I do so well with her so consistently that I actually find her boring to play. 1. Her ability to protect a 3 gen is unparalleled, she can center her whole gameplan around it 2. Just her presence in a match can spook people into playing differently 3. If survivors aren't prepared she can end games VERY quickly, often with 4-5 gens left 4. Even if survivors are prepared, she can drag out the end game until somebody makes a mistake 5. One of the only killers that is viable without any perks, but also synergizes with a lot of great perks
hag is usually thought of as useless because every killer and their mother is being given a teleport mechanic, so hag is becoming progressively less unique. it's really only experienced OG hag players who are going to be able to use her more effectively than the people who try her and just think "oh so it's basically if dredge or unknown or dracula or demogorgon or freddy lost half their powers
It’s fair to say some killers do well (and get ranked high in tier lists) because the average survivor player hates playing against them and gives up or doesn’t play seriously. I would put Hag in that category.
@@ToniToniChopaaa this is not a argument, its literally a fact that hag gets significantly weaker against a good communication team.... go use your skill issue and become the #1 hag and @ me in the video would love to see it!!
A correlation can definitely be observed between the number of killers that use hag to chase survivors (as a 110% ms killer) and the number of killers that say hag is low on a tier list. Thanks for the content Otz! ❤
I used to hate playing Hag because something about her doesn't click with me. I always lose control of the match and have zero fun. But then one day I tried Scarred Hand... and that clicked instantly. When I use Scarred Hand, Hag is suddenly fun and makes sense. She's one of my favorites. I have Hag at P40 now just from buying Scarred Hands and Black Wards. I really like to pair it with Willow Wreath, slightly more than Waterlogged Shoe. It's just a combo that works well. I hate the Hag daily though. Don't make me teleport!
I don't know, the new style of editing in this video is slick, but it feels overly-produced. then again, I may be simply too used to Otz giving us the footage with the occasional pop-up to explain or show what a perk does. If by chance you see this, Otz, can we go back to the previous style? This is too much, too generic, and your style was perfect as-is.
Agree here, was gonna post my own comment/feedback going this direction but might as well stick to one thread; this editing style just doesn't fit Otz's content imo. Maybe if Otz was more in the habit of speaking twice as fast from the top of his lungs, but unless that happens (and I dearly hope it doesn't) there's a disconnect between the narration and the editing.
agreed, it feels too busy and distracting. the constant zooming in & out and intense music makes the video difficult to watch :( hope this was just a one time thing bc i already miss the cozy minimalistic style in the sea of overproduced dbd content
I agree fully. But unfortunately when I play in some scrims, I see that hag is often in the lowest tier, reserved for killers like trapper. These killers are allowed more meta perks, which is bizarre that hag, a strong killer, is put there.
Hag is a pretty good killer especially due to the fact people barely ever face her so they forget how to properly play around her, but you mix that with perfect trap placements shes extremely oppressive, theres a video of a guy going against pro players multiple times as her a ruining their streak
9:09 Hey Otz. I’m not sure if you’ll read this, but I can’t tell if you said “don’t *tell* me wrong” or “don’t *take* me wrong” here. Either way, the correct phrase is “don’t get me wrong.” The meaning is the same either way though. Love the vids :)
I love the argument you make here. Hag is absolutely one of the most slept on killers of all time, and this video helps with her reputation. That being said, I don’t think everyone else has what you have Otz. You are a legend in the community with a brain to rival a super computer for DBD knowledge. I go to work and play like 2 games of DBD maybe a night, I don’t have Time to grind out struggle games with hag until I get good like you can. Hag IS fantastic, but the average person really can’t do much with her because of her insane skill expression. That being said, great video!!!
You're far too kind but even if you have little time, I still think Hag is much less complicated and requires far less reflexes than many of other Killers in the cast!
@@notOtzdarvaincredibly humble as always my friend, I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for always having well made and educational content!!
Hag would be great if not for the camera exploit/tech that allows survivors to completely counter her traps (not including rusty shackles) But she is overall one of the better/ the best trapping killer in dbd and thats already making her high tier
Exactly this. That exploit alone kills her, and Rusty Shackles is an add-on that completely changes her power so she can beat people she usually wouldn't. I'm shocked people haven't got it nerfed like they did Spirit because they "can't see what's going on, so it's unfair OP."
If survivors learn that they can just crouch to avoid triggering her traps she would be mid at worst, but right now, with 99% of survivors not even knowing that they can hold the t-bag key to crouch, she is SSS+ tier
She'd still be B tier at best. They can trigger her traps when she's not ready, and it completely screws up her game plan. I don't know how, but every time I play her, I face cocky survivors who know exactly how to pressure her traps, and still do gens.
@@danielmaster8776 and every time I unhook a survivor against hag, they immediately run away, triggering the traps around and get tunneled, even if I clean a trap or two, they run in the direction of the trap I didn't see and get tunneled anyway, and then they kill themselves on hook
Hag, Trapper, anyone like that can be good or bad, it just depends on the skill of the person playing them. For example, I cannot play nurse to save my life, even if she is the best killer in the game, she is actual garbage in my hands. However, I can play a killer like Trapper, killers who aren’t really top tier, and get 4Ks on meta-bringing survivors with the garbage pool of perks I had when I mained him (I only had demo perks, Trapper’s perks, and universals)
lerys is a very killer-sided map against solo queue teams with no communication. you could easily 4k on any killer in that scenario so i don't really think the result of that initial hag match is indicative of anything, even though i agree that hag is higher than D-tier. The reality of the game is that the map you're on will almost always determine the outcome of the game right then and there, or will at least heavily skew the results one way or the other. A killer getting a map like garden of joy is almost always a loss whereas getting the re-worked haddonfield is almost always a win regardless of skill level. Of course a 4-man coordinated swf will be able to somewhat counteract those results but you don't go against those every day.
I feel like this is a defeatist attitude. Unless you're going against a swf or a player that fully intends on abusing a map for all its worth, while the map definitely impacts things, it doesn't decide the whole match just because you got a bad roll. It just feels like a way of going "Well *I* didnt play bad, it was the maps fault!". Bad maps absolutely exist, but they can be learned and worked around for most killers.
Obviously, winning one match doesn't prove anything so I will play another one like it does prove anything XD Not that I hate, but with any killer you can win against uncoordinated soloQ players who didn't even have super broken builds or loadouts. Sure, it's worth to applaud that you played with a huge disadvantage in the form of a glyph or the lack of any perks, but there was no teamplay on the surv side at all. Even a duo would be enough and the match could look completely different
I’m relatively new to DBD and play both sides, but I’ve found i love playing Hag, she’s the only killer I can get to grips with, and when you lay them traps right, it’s absolute chaos and I live for it 😅
Hag is Low cuz she's just been outclassed by so many killers and with time plus stuff that has been introduced to the game, like anti-3 gen mechanic which indirectly nerfs her, her traps can now be wiped away by survivors, and she's stuck as a 110% killer with 0 chase potential, I'm telling you some people think she's good but that's cuz people are playing like bots, against decent or good teams she's basically nothing, at Low B or High C Tier at best, try and change my mind, cuz I'm 100% convinced that she is Mid at best.
Love this video! This is how I feel as a Trapper main! I have a 65% win rate as him even tho he's considered the weakest and I don't ever have to slug or tunnel (I just don't like to) because he's strong af if you know how to play him and don't give up when your first down is at 2 gens.
I got into playing Hag because of watching Otz vids on strategy and mindset of survivors. It was a logical step up since before I played hag, I played trapper, also inspired by Otz games and strats. Most fun I ever had on dbd
Imo hag is probably a low A or somewhere in the B tier killer. I love playing as her, especially when going against a swf/good survivors as even when I’m losing, it’s really easy to snowball with her, which is where I see her getting to an A or B tier position.
Hag is also a killer that needs you to have very good game sence and timing. Otz has both of those in spades. I can definitely see why some people would think Hag is bad, but she just requires you to have a LOT of focus and practice with the game. High skill floor i think.
Before I stopped playing I found a ton of fun playing hag with the add-on that gives her clones collision and the one to make her a normal MS killer along with a chase build. Was surprising how much I would win with it but I think they recently nerfed STBFL and that was a core perk.
I find Hag to be a killer that I either 4K with at 3 gens or lose with 1 hook, and all it takes is survivors that do not panic and know how to trigger traps without getting hit. It’s similar to my trapper games, except I get a lot more of the former with her lol For an average solo queue game? She’s good. She doesn’t depend as much on perks as she used to (flashlights do not affect her, fog wise isn’t common anymore, medkits are weaker, boons aren’t common) and she’s probably recovered well from many years of meta essentially nerfing her to the ground by accident. She’s probably the killer that relies the least on perks or addons. The issue is that for me a tier list shouldn’t be entirely based off an average solo queue pub match with mediocre hour count players, as the concept itself of tier lists is usually based off high skill from both player and opponent. I don’t think she’s reliable enough to be given a definite rating of being a very strong killer, else you could make a similar case for trapper to a lesser extent and say that because his kill rate is fine being all black or white, he’s pretty good. As an ex-Hag fan (she was weirdly enough the first killer I started playing, being inspired by Elix), I actually find a lot of similarities in Singularity, with a more interactive gameplay and a stronger chase power, while being overall much more reliable with less lower extremes because you cannot get rid of pods easily and they’re easily replaced so you cannot disable its power entirely. And I haven’t tried it since its buff.
Hag is low tier, just like trapper is, exactly because they need to set up. At higher MMR levels you lose 3 gens in 2 mins. Your traps aren't going to win the game anymore at that point, they might get you a few hooks. They just need 2 ppl to keep u distracted, while the other 2 work on the last 2 gens. There is very much, as it almost always have been rly, a gen rush meta. Setup killers do not do well in this meta. That is just a fact. IF you do well as hag, I can almost guarantee you are somewhere below the average MMR bracket. People only play these killers because they are different and fun to play, not to win. So if you make any Tier list that is based on performance, hag/trapper will always be bottom tier. This match example right here is proof. Anyone who has been playing as long as I have, and if Otz was honest, they would tell you that 12mins is a VERY long time to have only done 4 gens. These ppl were either not playing to win or bottom mmr. The average match time for exit gates to open is under 10 minutes.
ALSO If you don't like this kind of hag gameplay, try chag (chase hag). The scarred hand and waterlogged shoe addons make her feel like a whole new killer, its an absolute blast to play.
"gathering opinions from my viewers" So that's what the dog at 0:05 is doing, thanks for the clarification Otz.

Hag is a bad killer for players who doesnt tunnel or camp but if hag player like in this camps the hook and tunnel the person she becames a at least A rank killer because its quite easy to do.
The argument that you can just "follow behind hag and trigger all her traps" to counter her never made sense to me, but it's one ppl use fairly often to prove she's D tier so idk (I think she's strong tho, but it's like Hux, it takes a lot of effort, but she's strong)
I think people often tie in how they personally feel about a character with how strong they are. In hag's case people think she is boring because of her hag camp heavy play style and then let that bias alter the view of the character.
Hag is very survivor skill dependant imo, like in Australia we have alot of sweaty players, they all know the exact run distance to trigger trap where it's unhittable etc. In saying that, they all watch how to vids and play the exact same so it's like vsing well trained bots.
I put Hag at lower A tier (I oscillate between mid A and low B, hence lower A). If you're just trying her out or starting out, it's gonna be a rough road to hoe. Learning how, where, when, and why to place traps is a major factor. Anticipating what the usual Surv does is another. I would also say "downloading" the Survs (like in fighting games) is another important skill with her. But when you get her, when you understand her, her strength is massive. The only thing I wish was different about her is how Survs remove traps. I liked the old way of using light to get rid of them. I think that was an unnecessary nerf. I'm sure there's Hag mains who could chime in and be specific about things like nerfs, buffs, what they wish would be done, etc. Actually, I think Michi made a video not too long ago with that topic in mind. That all said, I'm awful at Hag, but I admire the skill and thought processes required to play her well.
Lower A makes sense. For me, id say peak/top of B tier if we are going by the tiers sense of the game. I don't go by tiers tbh. I just in a way exploit how the game wants you to play killer. Any form of map control or cut off surv movement type abilities that a killer has is a very valuable tool that keeps them a threat in the meta. How I look at it.
Hey, Otz - of Killers, Sadako is my primary main, but I'm a big-time Hag player. As far as perks on her go, I think Forced Penance is HUGELY slept on (and a fantastic perk, in general - Survivors love to shut down if they're injured and can't be healed). Would love to see what you can make happen with Forced Penance on Hag!
I believe hag has a high game sense ceiling where if the person playing her knows what to camp and what gens to take advantage of she can be really strong in the comp scene even… I do think hag is really strong against new people as compared to someone like deathslinger who wouldn’t really be bad or strong against noobies… and then in the middle of mmr hag struggles bc you need a high amount of game sense
Hag is a really interesting killer, I love her design and would love to play her more but trying to learn her in high MMR especially against swfs is so hard. Hag is one of my favourite killers to watch Otz play, I feel like his mind goes into big brain strategy mode and it’s so fun to watch. Almost like playing chess, one might say
Hag is a killer I find myself either winning at 4 gens or in a 20 minute end game stale mate. there’s no in-between for me
Hag gets alot worse if survivors actually look for and destroy her traps in relevant areas before they trigger or trigger them while you are holding a survivor, yes it costs them time but it has also cost you time to set them up also and now you are not getting much value from your power. That said all it takes is one lazy or clueless survivor to keep triggering them for you to keep getting alot of value. Also if they are smart about which gens they do before you have a 3 gen or 4 gen.
Also like trapper she benefits from grass to hide her traps so she is alot worse on certain maps.
@@silverdeathgamer2907 i agree with this statement
hag is like skull merchant.
@@dodang_9147 hag and skull merchant are absolutely not comparable lmfao
Hag is a Killer OTZ put 2020 in S Tier and everyone laughed about it
every time I get Hag daily, I play her with Waterlogged Shoe and Scarred Hand, because it's fun to play just Wraith but with no Cloak. Then I end game and remember that her daily requires to teleport.... I get into this trap every time
PFTT okay you got a laugh out of me.
The real traps are the ones we set ourselves 😔
That’s a fun build, rapid brutality + coup de grace can be a chase ender
Meanwhile Freddy: Just exist and you'll get the daily.
No lie, I do the same thing. I forget the daily is to teleport.
Hag is definitely more of a snowball killer. One mistake like a hasty unhook can lead to extra hits and downs.

That's insulting.
Over half of all slugs could warp and hit easily.
How do you install teleport?

Unknown is a ranged killer, closer to Huntress than he is to Hag. Larry isn't even a true area denial killer. Hag is like a Trapper but whos traps do nothing except a cosmetic effect - you can literally disarm Hag's traps without risking ANYTHING
Hello friends this is Otz, your favorite dbd historian
Maybe the Hag were the friends we made along the way
:)
She wins if survivors play into your gameplan, but if survivors take it slow and harass you, there isn’t much you can do.
theres several builds that completely change her playstyle so this isnt true
your waffling bro.
this is true ........ if you just started playing hag
@@qxdeath13 you can say that about any killer, so that isn’t really applicable
How the fuck are they gonna "harass" you by activating traps? You always get a hit or two and if they take the time to try and locate your traps, they're already wasting time, and even if they play around the traps by crouching, that's also a lot of time wasted, and you don't even need to do a 3 gen just prepare the overall map, you can trap in a lot of ways and is impossible to loop you if you're a little bit intelligent.
Ahh Hag...aka, Trapper 2.0, aka Proto-Skull Merchant. ("The Queen of 3-Gen in Exile")
Hag's viability primarily comes down to two things:
1) The Hag player's map knowledge and pathing
2) How knowledgeable and willing the survivors are to play Hag's game
Otz says Hag is very strong in public matches and that is very true...but she is in fact very, very weak if survivors flip the table on her, and make Hag play THEIR game instead.
@@danielmaster8776 tbh most killers auto lose to a good swf

@@danielmaster8776 I’m not saying that she can’t win on those tougher maps, she just has to think a bit harder. It has also gotten easier for her with maps being shrunken down a bit but there are still outliers to be had. Singularity is by no means a bad Killer, and especially now is in a pretty good place, but if you find yourself on any indoor map with Hux it’ll feel like your ankles are permanently broken. Lots of Killers have their problems with map variety, just that her highs and lows are a bit different is all
@@danielmaster8776 ye ppl that knnow what theyre doing will get at least a 2 man out against her
Ahh Hag my swamp queen, the killer who i began my dbd journey with, the first killer who i really began grinding this game & pushing ranks with back when ranks meant something. She isnt the strongest killer but she isnt the weakest like some people seem to think, her unpopularity is a factor & a bonus. This is a killer who i love and appreciate so much i pushed her to P100. :)
Hello Otz, this is Dracula's secret 4th form, Friends
1:18 chad move
Thanks for covering this. Haven’t seen you play hag in quite forever honestly. Hag Spirit and pig are my main killers I love to run. You really don’t see hags daily atleast in my games so I feel people forget how to counter her. Specially with her teleporting on hook and her ability to be small and kind of blend her way into the environment makes her such a good strong killer.
One of the hardest maps with no addons, no perks, and orange glyph. Obviously not a comp team but nice job otz
The Hag has one of the highest potentials to snowball into the Chadg out of the entire roster
You proved hag is amazing, hatch is gimiky in its own right and a 3k with a hatch escape is definitely a killer win and with no perks, you definitely proved it
Otz your video production has gotten so high tier, awesome work as always man!
6:03 That hit was genuinely the most cinematic thing I've ever laid my eyes upon
what do you mean bro
@@JohnCena-fd5yw It's the way he falls to the side all cuntily like
I used to be a Hag main when i first got DbD and at first she was really strong. I played her sometime ago and she's just as good as i remember. Maybe even better because i got more killer experience
this is a lesson. just because a character doesnt work for your play style, doesnt mean its a bad character.

@@Least_Patriotic_Texan Any tips on Spirit? She strong and I feel like I get pummeled when she shows up.
I unlocked hag recently, playing a couple of games with her. And as someone who played DBD for a bit over half a year now I found a few things that might throw "newer" players off (personal opinion incoming):
She is different from most killers and you need a lot of map/game awareness.
Man I’ve been convinced about Hag since that day you introduced us to Michi.
14:15 What's the song at the end of the video? Bit of a bop
Great video Otz, loving the new editing style.
I made charts on how to play all the killers properly but folks are hard headed..they'd rather play a killer *their* way
Friends otz, this is hello
I’m a minute in, but by design I think the hag will always be fairly decent. Unlike trapper, she doesn’t need to pick up her traps, larger radius, harder to see through grass, free slow unhooking, somewhat forced altruism with less skilled and non comm teams. Decent addons too
I put her mentally in a B tier with wiggle room to be slightly higher based on map and loadout pretty much at any given time
I'm a hard hag main, still learning but I wouldn't say I'm bad with her.
Incredible video, Otz!
Hag is super fun and I hope I get to see a lot more in my Survivor games!
1. Her ability to protect a 3 gen is unparalleled, she can center her whole gameplan around it
2. Just her presence in a match can spook people into playing differently
3. If survivors aren't prepared she can end games VERY quickly, often with 4-5 gens left
4. Even if survivors are prepared, she can drag out the end game until somebody makes a mistake
5. One of the only killers that is viable without any perks, but also synergizes with a lot of great perks
what that dawg doing in the intro 😭
applying cpr of course ^_^
hag is usually thought of as useless because every killer and their mother is being given a teleport mechanic, so hag is becoming progressively less unique. it's really only experienced OG hag players who are going to be able to use her more effectively than the people who try her and just think "oh so it's basically if dredge or unknown or dracula or demogorgon or freddy lost half their powers
It’s fair to say some killers do well (and get ranked high in tier lists) because the average survivor player hates playing against them and gives up or doesn’t play seriously. I would put Hag in that category.
Excellent job Otz! That was awesome to watch buddy😊🤙

Two biggest things I've learned from watching Otzdarva videos
1. Trapper is a pain
2. Hag will never not be underrated
Hag is Hag, that’s all I know.
Otz: *makes an entire video to prove hag is pretty good*
That one guy: "Nah, hag is bad"
I don't know, the new style of editing in this video is slick, but it feels overly-produced.
then again, I may be simply too used to Otz giving us the footage with the occasional pop-up to explain or show what a perk does.
If by chance you see this, Otz, can we go back to the previous style? This is too much, too generic, and your style was perfect as-is.
The new style isn't my cup of tea, either. Hopefully, this was just a test and it'll go back to the minimalist approach.
Nice opinion Otz unfortunetly I have 1 million points in Rise of Kingdom ! So I have the right opinion. (I haven't played DBD in 4 years)

Hello friends, this is Otz's homunculus practicing his speech mannerisms

Exactly this. That exploit alone kills her, and Rusty Shackles is an add-on that completely changes her power so she can beat people she usually wouldn't. I'm shocked people haven't got it nerfed like they did Spirit because they "can't see what's going on, so it's unfair OP."
Amazing to see you do this not just perkless, not just addon-less, but with an orange glyph hinderance as well!
GGs WP!
If survivors learn that they can just crouch to avoid triggering her traps she would be mid at worst, but right now, with 99% of survivors not even knowing that they can hold the t-bag key to crouch, she is SSS+ tier
Doesn’t work like thay
She'd still be B tier at best. They can trigger her traps when she's not ready, and it completely screws up her game plan. I don't know how, but every time I play her, I face cocky survivors who know exactly how to pressure her traps, and still do gens.
Yes but first you have to know the trap is there in order to crouch walk safely on it. Also, when being chased you can’t afford to crouch
Billy is ass on that map 💀
Nice to see you in a good mood, Otz. Stay strong!
Agreed, people just think she's good cause they see her still rekt clueless solo teams but even Trapper could rekt those and nobody thinks he's good.
Would love to see you pick up the 50 wins series again with the dredge. Keep up the great content Otz.
Love this video! This is how I feel as a Trapper main! I have a 65% win rate as him even tho he's considered the weakest and I don't ever have to slug or tunnel (I just don't like to) because he's strong af if you know how to play him and don't give up when your first down is at 2 gens.
I cannot make it to your streams often, so thank you for making videos on youtube that I can watch when I find the time
I got into playing Hag because of watching Otz vids on strategy and mindset of survivors. It was a logical step up since before I played hag, I played trapper, also inspired by Otz games and strats. Most fun I ever had on dbd
Hag was the killer that first carried me to rank 1 back in 2020. She is a strong killer, yet I have been destroyed by some teams quite well
Imo hag is probably a low A or somewhere in the B tier killer.
💯👏
Before I stopped playing I found a ton of fun playing hag with the add-on that gives her clones collision and the one to make her a normal MS killer along with a chase build. Was surprising how much I would win with it but I think they recently nerfed STBFL and that was a core perk.
0:02 Ain't no way Dracula's not a top 10 killer, he wrecks Wesker.
I literally played hag yesterday and I totally agree that Hag is a decently strong killer with a lot of unique utility, as usual much love Otz!!
I find Hag to be a killer that I either 4K with at 3 gens or lose with 1 hook, and all it takes is survivors that do not panic and know how to trigger traps without getting hit. It’s similar to my trapper games, except I get a lot more of the former with her lol
For an average solo queue game?
Haven’t played dbd in atleast 6 months, still watch and enjoy your videos regularly
"gathering opinions from my viewers"
So that's what the dog at 0:05 is doing, thanks for the clarification Otz.
Hag is a bad killer for players who doesnt tunnel or camp but if hag player like in this camps the hook and tunnel the person she becames a at least A rank killer because its quite easy to do.
The argument that you can just "follow behind hag and trigger all her traps" to counter her never made sense to me, but it's one ppl use fairly often to prove she's D tier so idk
(I think she's strong tho, but it's like Hux, it takes a lot of effort, but she's strong)
I think people often tie in how they personally feel about a character with how strong they are. In hag's case people think she is boring because of her hag camp heavy play style and then let that bias alter the view of the character.
✓Opinions influence too much of the community' thinking. We need more fact based viewpoints
Hag was the first killer i ever played and she was my main for over a year so I love seeing her get some credit
Hag has the best lobby theme for sure. Also Dredge buffs feel pretty good!
