What helps viewing pintrest photos of beautiful women with beautiful type 4 hair. What we need to do is exalt what makes us so unique and different from the global norm.

This has helped me, changing the way my algorithm works on social media to include women who look like me. That’s how I discovered this video!

This app helped me to love my hair more exactly how it grows out of my head. At it’s length and texture and I make sure my daughter and granddaughters know that their hair is beautiful because of its texture and their skin is beautiful BECAUSE it’s dark. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I will stand by my belief that nobody is tender headed. Our parents would rake through our conditioner-less dry hair from root to tip with a fine tooth comb or braid so tight to the scalp that bumps would appear then call us tender headed. Folks carry that belief with them as they became adults and never investigated where or why they got that notion of “tender headedness” in the first place.

People never approve of something that's uniquely different and intimidating. Your hair is so beautiful and thick.

I really enjoyed your video. My grandmother started relaxing my hair when I was around five or six. I suffered severe scalp burns and bleeding in my scalp. But she never cared. As long as my hair was bone straight to her, that was all that mattered. As she did my hair, she would tell me how bad and ugly it was, and how broken off it was. She did not realize that SHE was breaking it off, using a super strength relaxer and not having any knowledge about how to apply a relaxer. My grandmother is long gone and for the first time in my life, I am transitioning and will be wearing my hair natural, and learning to love it! I feel sorry for my grandmother. She never learned that we are not our hair

This is exactly what I went through… so what I did was turn my natural hair into locs and after 12 years I’ve decided to comb them out and learn how to love my natural hair as it grows out of my head. I’m still on that journey and thinking about posting on TH-cam. Thank you for opening up and talking about this sis!!!! You’re a gift!

I really felt this message! I’m a guy but this resonated. I had to realize that my hair isn’t naturally silky or fine. I have very dense thick type 4 hair , with defined coils/curls. I know this channel might be geared for mostly woman , but this resonated. No texturizer for me,

your hair is gorgeous & its so crazy to me how many women hate their 4c hair. i feel like once they accept their hair for what it is (which is gorgeous) then it will flourish & be the most beautiful & admired hair type of all

I'll be keeping this video on repeat for those days when I'm lost and frustated and discouraged with my natural hair. I've listened to it twice already. This will be a saved video. I also have thick natural hair and whenever it reaches a new stage, I am always thrown off because the styles I did before look different and don't seem to work. It feels like I'm fighting with my hair because I'm trying to get it do something it doesn't want to do. It feels like I have to start all over again learning my hair to figure out and accept what works best with this stage. So Thank You for making the point to love it at every stage and in every state.

The residue from childhood relaxers and thick hair comments are real. I am a 4c 63 years young and use to struggle with my thick hair. I can relate to every comment you have made and often heard the same comments growing up. I did the big chop during the pandemic and have not looked back. My hair is thriving and looks so healthy as I wear my large Afro styles. It’s definitely a journey and I just continue to love my hair the same as I love on the rest of my body. I’ve let all my negative thoughts go about my hair and now wear it proudly with confidence. My sister in God you are beautiful and look gorgeous wearing your crown. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone to share your experiences and words of support. Continued blessings to you.❤

Thank you for your honesty. I love your hair. I'm one year into my thick 4b, c hair journey, I have no idea. My shrinkage is real.

  • @nyny9598

I remember when I started my locs, people said it would be a hard journey in the sense that you have to accept yourself in all stages and for me that was a piece of cake. It was easy for me to accept my hair as it was going through its many stages(even the "ugly phase"). I cut off my locs 4 months ago, and my hair is now about an inch long when it's completely dry. While having short hair is no problem for me because I've done it before, having my loose natural hair is frustrating at times. It's the extreme frizz, the lack of definition/my hair not wanting to curl, or how dry it gets, among other things that get me discouraged and frustrated. It can be a challenge sometimes when my hair isnt "acting rught", but I'm learning to like my hair in all stages, even in the ones where it seems like my hair is being "difficult". This is the first time in years where I've actually liked my hair and accepted it for what it is(type 4b). For those struggling to like their hair, it does get easier. Keep pushing. Don't try to run away from the fact that your hair is the texture that it is. It'll only cause more frustration for you. Things seem to get easier when you stop resisting and start working with what you have. It was meant for you to have that hair texture, so work with it. It's ok to cry about it and be upset some days, but keep going. As I heard somewhere, 'this is just the season you are in' and that applies to our relationship with our hair. We will all have our days, weeks, months or years of struggling with our hair, but that doesn't mean throw away the whole journey because it gets frustrating. Keep going.

Im just now seeing this video and its greatly appreciated. I transitioned back in 2012 after years of relaxers and then after some years, my texture got more coarse and I was emotional as well. I started doing so many braids etc over the years but now in means of a money saver and also just wanting to love my hair wholeheartedly, I’m being nudged to acceptance. Tired of going to salons etc and just embracing that I just need to do it myself and just be okay with my curl! Powerful video. Thank you ♥️

I'm still learning. Baby steps for me. I also grew up in the 90's. I begged my mom to straighten my hair and she gave in when i was 13. As a child i just wanted to fit in and not be teased by the kids (who were mostly non black). And as an adult i have the same sentiment unfortunately. I've been using keratine for the past 2 years, which certainly damaged my hair even more. And i'm at a point where i'm forced to accept my hair. Keratin is very expensive, damaging and i can't keep it up. I went on vacation to France recently and there was one day where i just let my hair air dry. I felt so stress free that day, but was very selfconchase that people might stare at my hair. Like i said, its baby steps for me. I've also had torturous moments with my hair. Tried to straighten it myself and burnt my scalp, i even saw some blood. Spend way too much money on greedy hairdressers overcharching, natural hair wigs that look like wigs, extensions (still have a little patch of hair or lack therof that never grew back since the start of corona), brading thats not worth the money. Etc. Thank you so much for sharing. My comments on youtube are usually limited to 1 or 2 sentences but your video was an entire therapy session for me.❤❤❤

I’m learning to love my hair. It has ruined my confidence. I always permed, dyed and covered it with wigs/extensions. I’m two years natural and I’m doing fine with it. I rock it. But people treat me differently when I wear my natural hair. They act like it’s so unusual to see my hair type worn in my age group. I’m more comfortable wearing my hair personally, but I don’t like the attention it draws. I’m praying I give up caring about people feelings and opinions and just focus on what works best for me. I’m so depressed some days. No one around me understands.

    • @bianca_badu

Thank you💗. Yes his hair is just like mines. We keep the sides low cut and let the middle grow. (Like a box cut). I wash and conditioner his hair weekly then pick out and let it air dry with argon oil in it. I spray his hair with water mixed with castor oil or jojoba a few times a week then use a curling sponge to create texture. Once it gets long enough I’m going to start braiding or twisting that middle area but having the sides cut low really cuts down on maintenance time.
