Chit Chat I Healing in my 30's... learning to have grace, acceptance, and self-love
Hey y'all,
Thanks so much for clicking on this video.
I feel everyone needs to heal in some way and acting on this is the ultimate form of self-love.
Take the time to love on yourself because you deserve it.
I encourage you to take a look at your self and reflect on the person who you desire to be. Then create a plan and path to get to that point. For me, I wanted to be the woman God created me to be and in order for me to do so I had to work towards good health. Mentally./spiritually...then physically. We were not put on this Earth to suffer! Healing is a journey but I've never felt so clear-headed and confident that I'm on the path to becoming the woman I'm destined to be.

Hey you guys, I hope you are well and safe. We are going to be saying 'see you later' to one of my son's BFFs #militarylife. So, we made sure to spend some time with him before he left. Also, watch me struggle to cut my damn grass for the 1st time. Although it was difficult, I was so proud of myself that I set out to do something and I DID IT. Confidence boost for sure. 100% sure that you could heal yourself if you switch to DIY. Try African Black Soap (diluted). Rhassoul clay for clarifying every few months. Full fat yogurt & honey mask for protein. There are so many DIY recipes on the internet.
I will stand by my belief that nobody is tender headed. Our parents would rake through our conditioner-less dry hair from root to tip with a fine tooth comb or braid so tight to the scalp that bumps would appear then call us tender headed. Folks carry that belief with them as they became adults and never investigated where or why they got that notion of âtender headednessâ in the first place.
Awwww this is the hardest part of military life, i feel so sorry for my kids.more then me. Before we leave bases i host as many playdates and sleepover as my kids want
Yes same here. Thatâs a good idea Iâm going to start doing that for sure
I couldnât agree more. I think your hair is so beautiful and so adds to your beauty. I have similar hair and also know the journey. This hair is beautifully special but does need energy for the washing and styling and needs a person to be confident âĪ
Your type 4 hair is beautiful!!
I felt this deeply. I am growing out my hair also and working through similiar emotions and fighting the feeling of going back to relaxer. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you âĪ
Great video. How did you get to the interview round. Can you give me tips and tricks?
I love seeing you all out and about i miss jblm. We will be pcsing soon and i want to get a bike to ride with my boys as well
The residue from childhood relaxers and thick hair comments are real. I am a 4c 63 years young and use to struggle with my thick hair. I can relate to every comment you have made and often heard the same comments growing up. I did the big chop during the pandemic and have not looked back. My hair is thriving and looks so healthy as I wear my large Afro styles. Itâs definitely a journey and I just continue to love my hair the same as I love on the rest of my body. Iâve let all my negative thoughts go about my hair and now wear it proudly with confidence. My sister in God you are beautiful and look gorgeous wearing your crown. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone to share your experiences and words of support. Continued blessings to you.âĪ
Iâve been thinking about what you said in the hair talk part about how much others were fussing over you with the new do. And you are so right. Itâs something Iâve noticed too. If Iâm rocking a really nice natural hair hairstyle and thereâs someone else rocking new braids or weave/ wig etc - that person gets 10 times more attention and fussing over and compliments. When I first noticed it I thought I was tripping lol ð It can really play on your mind and not in a good way because itâs like so you saying but not saying is that this other style is more accepted than my natural style? ðĪĻðð But donât worry, you keep hanging in there with your natural hair journey. Your hair is so beautiful, it reminds me so much of mine. ð Love on it while you protect it. ðĪ
A doctoral studies program is not for everybody. If you found it wasn't for you, you were smart to let it go.
Yea, most people are telling me not to get a PhD. I'd wait until your 50's ,60s. Some people do it as a badge of honor, but that shouldn't be the case.
Thanks for this video.
I been thinking about transitioning into an academic advisor or counselor role, I have worked in property management for 3 years and the duties are similar, and my degrees are in mass communications and digital marketing. Do you think this would help???
Happy Mothers Day Beautiful âĪïļâĪïļ

I love big buns this is cute I will definitely try
you could try temporary wash out color to spice things up. either way, the soft healthy voluptuous hair on your head is lovely.
your hair is gorgeous & its so crazy to me how many women hate their 4c hair. i feel like once they accept their hair for what it is (which is gorgeous) then it will flourish & be the most beautiful & admired hair type of all
This is exactly what I went throughâĶ so what I did was turn my natural hair into locs and after 12 years Iâve decided to comb them out and learn how to love my natural hair as it grows out of my head. Iâm still on that journey and thinking about posting on TH-cam. Thank you for opening up and talking about this sis!!!! Youâre a gift!
You ainât got to prove or show your beauty to everyone
Thatâs what you got from this video?
God bless you Me too love my hair all natural no wigs
I was just in the mirror screaming at this clump of misery that I call hair and decided to give up, come on TH-cam and forget about the fact that I have to look at it. This video was the first one that popped up.
How can someone not respond and be friendly with his beautiful smile!!! Their loss!!!âĪïļâĪïļ
I'll be keeping this video on repeat for those days when I'm lost and frustated and discouraged with my natural hair. I've listened to it twice already. This will be a saved video. I also have thick natural hair and whenever it reaches a new stage, I am always thrown off because the styles I did before look different and don't seem to work. It feels like I'm fighting with my hair because I'm trying to get it do something it doesn't want to do. It feels like I have to start all over again learning my hair to figure out and accept what works best with this stage. So Thank You for making the point to love it at every stage and in every state.
Hey boo! We have similar hair story and even type! I think your hair may grow unevenly because of how you stimulate your scalp
Loved this video!
Absolutely stunning!!! ððððððð
Iâm learning to love my hair. It has ruined my confidence. I always permed, dyed and covered it with wigs/extensions. Iâm two years natural and Iâm doing fine with it. I rock it. But people treat me differently when I wear my natural hair. They act like itâs so unusual to see my hair type worn in my age group. Iâm more comfortable wearing my hair personally, but I donât like the attention it draws. Iâm praying I give up caring about people feelings and opinions and just focus on what works best for me. Iâm so depressed some days. No one around me understands.
Absolutely like the sun! A sun goddess âĻïļ with our beautiful hair!
You are beautiful!ðâĪ What a true message!ðâĪ
You are so naturally beautiful...âĻâĪïļ thank you for the video x
My first relaxer was probably 4.
You are beautiful
I remember when I started my locs, people said it would be a hard journey in the sense that you have to accept yourself in all stages and for me that was a piece of cake. It was easy for me to accept my hair as it was going through its many stages(even the "ugly phase"). I cut off my locs 4 months ago, and my hair is now about an inch long when it's completely dry. While having short hair is no problem for me because I've done it before, having my loose natural hair is frustrating at times. It's the extreme frizz, the lack of definition/my hair not wanting to curl, or how dry it gets, among other things that get me discouraged and frustrated. It can be a challenge sometimes when my hair isnt "acting rught", but I'm learning to like my hair in all stages, even in the ones where it seems like my hair is being "difficult". This is the first time in years where I've actually liked my hair and accepted it for what it is(type 4b). For those struggling to like their hair, it does get easier. Keep pushing. Don't try to run away from the fact that your hair is the texture that it is. It'll only cause more frustration for you. Things seem to get easier when you stop resisting and start working with what you have. It was meant for you to have that hair texture, so work with it. It's ok to cry about it and be upset some days, but keep going. As I heard somewhere, 'this is just the season you are in' and that applies to our relationship with our hair. We will all have our days, weeks, months or years of struggling with our hair, but that doesn't mean throw away the whole journey because it gets frustrating. Keep going.
Love your hairâĪâĪâĪ
Iâm glad that your prioritizing your health. Itâs importantâĶ. Your importantâĪïļ
Thank you for mentioning the importance of water. Most people donât. Whereâs your water bottle from???
My hair is thick like this
Thank you for this great video! Thinking of pivoting from teaching to academic advising. Your video was so informative and your child is adorable.
Love all of this!!! Glad your feeling betterðĨ°

I love your message and relate to everything you said. I have type 4c hair.
