I like the angle on this video especially about the basic idea of the galactic empire, which wasn't bad, infact it fixed many problems of the Republic but these idea's got washed away by the Civil War and was replaced by total oppression as longer as the war was going on. The First Order wants to pick up these ideas again but is struggleing with in their eyes biggest flaw of the empire, crushing the opposition ultimately and kill a rebellion before it even really started since they didn't took over the galaxy yet.
TLJ was alright, it definitely wasn't everything I expected it to be. But, hopefully, with his new responsibility, Ren will change the First Order for the better. One fear that I have is that he will assume the title of Sith even though he is simply a Dark Side practitioner. Hopefully, that will not cause too many problems for the Order.
Did not feeled the typical SW feeling. In the first 6 movies the Sith was hand to hand the strongest beings in the galaxy. Sidious alone was such an deep but in his clam way Charakter. He was the dark side in its purest form. Vader was a fallen good guy and one of the galaxys most known heros that never was able to repay for that he did. Than the whole choosen one thing. For the new movies, Snoke is not even near the Level of Sidious or Vader and Ren is compared to the anger of Anikan and the suffering of Vader just some whiny emo guy. I just don't feel the epicness in the new series. SW has become more like Star Trek.
I want to believe that Snoke is alive, because it's supposed to be far more powerful than Palpatine. However, Kylo Ren is impulsive and incompetent enough to be knocked out by an amateur, so he is worse than Snoke.
For those who wonder : the audio of the part at 1:31 ("Threatening your men, it's not the best way to inspire loyalty - In need results more than loyalty") is from The Old Republic, on Taris (imperial side), the npc that give the blackout quest (coordinates : -1140 ; 575), you need to select the second dialogue option on the first choice.

They obey you because you are a leader, and perhaps something more. Have you noticed what has been happening? Have you felt it in them?"

Sam If she wants the trust of her men she does. The greatest leaders explained their plans unless there was a reason not to. Her men had low moral, no hope and no reason to trust her. A good leader would have explained the plan and given them hope. She was a awful leader. Holdo was a idiot.

The modern-day Sith understood something that our predecessors never did. The ability to use the Force may make a Sith Superior, but the lack of said ability does not make one Inferior. Many have proven this. Thrawn and Tarkin, with their military prowess. Krennic, with his knowledge on super weapons. Hux, with his infectious loyalty. Without beings like these, the Sith were always doomed to fail. And THAT is why Palpatine succeeded in establishing a Galactic Empire. THAT is why the Ancient Sith lost War after war.
-cough cough- With no canon explanation, the only reason known to why the old sith lost is because Darth Bane waged a civil war against the rest of the sith who had forgotten what it meant to have their apprentices become better than them and instead used them for political pawns and to clean their dirty work. The Sith Empire, according to legends, possessed much of which Palpatine did, and the only difference between the galactic empire and the Sith Empire is that the Galactic Empire was not run by a network of sith lords, but by two. And while yes I am aware the inquisitors are sith, they were never trained to their potential but used by Vader as tools to enforce the empires will and hunt Jedi. All in all, the GE didn't bring anything new in terms of supporting talents outside of Sith power, but instead replaced political scheming sith lords with military officers. Funny enough, both empires fell. Kinda sais something all on its own.
Tarkin was a war criminal whose actions galvanized the rebellion, and Thrawn was too narrow-minded to sense the doom approaching him, in either Rebels or the novel trilogy where he first appeared. I'll take a wise Sith like Darth Revan or Darth Sidious over them any day.

Thrawns main failing is him not recognising hearts and minds as the best way to pacify a rebellion, seeing them only as yet another threat to be destroyed. The fact that you see this shows how far more intelligent you are to most people. Modern societies fail to learn great lessons from history, and unfortunately, those in charge of failing governments will continue to hold on to their power by any means necessary even if the mass populace became aware of the simple political truth... There may not be any perfect form of government, but there are bad forms of governments.
You know what? A good fleet battle over starkiller base would have been pretty epic... Along with the defeat of the Resistance and their failure to destroy Starkiller base. Would have made it to where there was a REASON no one came to the Resistance's aid in The Last Jedi, they were afraid for their homeworlds being destroyed.

I really wish they would've kept Hux as a dictator and followed a power struggle between Ben and him instead of needing to recruit Withnail to take over in that stead and kill the clown that he had been written to become in TLJ. That would've made for an interesting sub plot.
Y’all need to start making full length movies, Star Wars or not, you’d be fuckin famous. You’re quality, attention to detail, and just overall vision for cinema is phenomenal. We need more people/groups with this talent and dedication in Hollywood other than the looney corrupt “celebrities.” There’s still a few good ones hanging on, but the majority of Hollywood is rotting, and infected. While this level of cinema is a gold mine for unique ideas, fresh perspectives, dedication to their product and their fans, and just straight up love for what they do, instead of the money it gives them.
