In Hungary, this belief about weather prediction goes with bears. They come out of their caves and check if they can see their shadows, and if they do, it's more winter. Just like groundhogs. What makes this interesting is that there are no bears in Hungary.
Those of us that attend know that it's a day to forget about the stressors of life, get together with friends and family and make happy memories. Do we believe that a Phil has magical powers? Yes, the power to make people happy. ♡
Groundhog day always makes me wonder - What if we're wrong about ancient civs. Most people don't take the day seriously, really it's just for fun. But in the far future when America and Canada are just long forgotten Nations how would a historian describe our almost religious worship of a small furry animal that predicted the seasons?
@@jellyrolls2765 You'd be surprised how well paper keeps in some situations, such as extremely dry deserts, or when completely covered in ash. The unintended lesson of groundhog day: Become a jerk, receive immortality. What ever you do don't stop being a jerk! You'll break the time loop and become mortal again!
You probably already know this, but that is an If/else statement. "If" this happens, do this. "else", do this other thing. the boolean value in an if/else allows the computer to "think" rather than expend time doing a process that may not be needing in the loop instance. using a boolean allows the computer to decide based on instructions wether or not to preform an action, wheras engageTimeLoop is simply a command regardless of situation.
KynigosTheWolf I guess it'd mean something if it's mult-threading (but I haven't worked on a project where the same value is shared between to threads, in case of unwanted complications, of course). But as of now, the code either does infinite loop or exits immediately depending on the initial situation. The boolean value is not used to check the state of the imprisoned object (jerk or !jerk), and the loop will run indefinitely if (jerk), and the boolean value _jerk_ will never get updated. Honestly I think it'd be better to call a method to update the object in question, so the value _jerk_ may change depending on the -actions- state of the object so the loop can one day exit. Having written code recently all I can see is an infinite loop. Sorry. Can't help it.
