Jiub was killed in the Siege of Kvatch. In the Soul Cairn, he mentions seeing a Dremora right before getting beheaded, and during the Siege of Kvatch in Oblivion you can enter a ruined house containing a single Dremora. He's wielding a claymore, and is one of the few characters in the game who has a chance to drop a black soulgem. And the piece de resistance is the severed Dunmer head, complete with a gnarly face scar, sitting on a stool right next to the daedra. It's a very minor Easter Egg, but it's incredibly well done.
I think the best part of Jiub's appearance in Skyrim is that instead of using the usual male Dunmer voice from Skyrim, he uses the male Dunmer voice from Morrowind, from the original voice actor!
I was in high school when Morrowind was released. Now that I'm a school teacher, I religiously play Morrowind during my summer and winter breaks to celebrate my vacation. It's a ritual that I never see dying.
My favorite Morrowind memory, and good peak at the depth of the game... was on the coast, exploring ruins... the ruins extended underwater, I followed and there was stuff you could get, I think I found a chest underwater there... eventually I near a statue... And then I meet the Deadric Lord, Boethiah... his statue was submerged and he wanted a new one. Keep in mind, this is a pretty random encounter. I swam past a statue underwater to activate this quest. This statue was near nothing and was completely submerged, a ways from the shore. I am sure there was some way to find a book that told you where the statue was, or some other way to start the quest and set you looking... but I just stumbled into it early in the game. The quest then involves research. I had to find and read books. Then I had to hire a particular stone mason based on what I learned in the books... then I have to scout a location. Once I find a good spot... (keep in mind, no map pointer, no 'go here, get this book, now go to the next flashing arrow and hire the orc'... no... you had to figure all of this out yoursel). So you find the location, hire the orc, and a crew... materials... then set them work. Then the construction continues in real time. Takes months. You can return and check on the progress and gradually it takes shape from the cliff face. Eventually the new shrine is completed and Boethiah gives you a rather kickass sword. This had NOTHING to do with the main quest. It was a side quest, and an obscure one at that... but the thought that went into it? I tip my hat to that team.
M'aiq the liar mentions the statue vaguely, but I think it's the only time it is brought up. There is an even more obscure quest involving the sword that you can only get if you are a vampire, and when you turn in the quest with the sword in your inventory and a specific amount of gold it gets upgraded to Eltonbrand and you get the message "go to hell carolina"
@@swahilimaster M'aiq is not exactly easy to find either, though. As for Eltonbrand, it is almost impossible to find by chance. It truly is just an easter egg.
It's thanks to Morrowind that I developed an unhealthy habit of involuntarily blurting out, "YOU N'WAH!" whenever someone gives me trouble. I am currently seeking psychiatric counseling for my problem.
I always come back to Morrowind. I've sunk more hours into it than any other game, and it will always be my #1. I love seeing where Elder Scrolls goes as a series, but nothing quite captures the magic of Morrowind.
I can't believe how original all the monsters in Morrowind were compared to oblivion and skyrim. You were actually suprised to see new creatures in this game.
Best thing about morrowind was that you had to figure stuff out for yourself and actually read stuff to progress instead of just following a marker on your compass.
@Gary Garratt I recently played baldur's gate and it was astounding to me how it really is true the 90s and early 2000s were the golden age of gaming, especially for real RPGs.
@Gary Garratt I am not super young, about 20, though by the time I was old enough to play such games the era passed. I'll never experience the true nostalgia but I always have appreciated older games and can order all the classics cheap or emulate them. Thank you for more titles to put on my backlog, I want to experience these classics not just for enjoyment but also inspiration and one day I can show my own children these great titles that may be forgotten to history while the industry probably continues to decline. thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.
@Gary Garratt I will definitely keep those on my list haha, and I watched a Mario rpg playthrough recently actually! I'll be modding morrowind soon. Thank you, have a great day .
@Gary Garratt Yup i agree, i was always dissapointed how dumbed down it got for oblivion then skyrim come out which is basically just fallout with a new skin what i'd give for it to be at least like oblivion level system. Morrowind was all trial and error, i loved that it didn't hold my hand and could mess up the main quest or my character if i screw up leveling up but you learn start a new character and learn the different race perks and what to do and what not to do.... also the game shouldn't save people from their own stupidity, if i kill an important NPC that's tough shit a simple warning was enough in morrowind that let you know you fucked up. Also the leveling up was great not perfect but once you learn what you want for a character and where to put points, its really not that hard at all and you see big gains later in game. Skyrim is too casual friendly... anyone can play and every race is pretty much equal. The perks don't really matter anymore like it did in morrowinds, races/star sign they took the life and soul out of the game.
Here's another one: When Morrowind first came out, Daggerfall was considered the best ES game and many Elder Scrolls fans did NOT like Morrowind. Todd Howard reportedly got DEATH THREATS from crazy fans after the game was released. Funny how times have changed, huh?
Honestly thts just how generation go When oblivion came out ppl hated it When skyrim came out it ppl hated it "Surprisingly " it was only the fans who hated it Yehhh ppl R dum I played just the 3 and can safely say tht morrowind is the best tes game Now for alot of ppl might hate me for this but i like skyrim more than oblivion im not saying oblivion is bad just never enjoyed it as much as morrowind and skyrim sooo yeh PPL WILL ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO HATE
My most memorable part of Morrowind is that wizard that falls from the sky just as you take the left path out of Seyda Neen. Cracked me up. I also remember taking the scrolls off his corpse and using them (to my usual demise). One time I used one in Vivec, jumped miles away, somehow survived the landing on a hillside, and got 100 acrobatics. Good times. Oh, and also stealing literally everything from the poor shopkeeper in Suran that refuses to actually call the guards.
Nick O'Connor Tahriel always makes me laugh. He reminds me of Terry Pratchett's hapless wizards at unseen university As for the scrolls i jumped so far out to sea with that scroll it was impossible to get back to shore - i got got trapped on a rock by slaughterfish and couldnt sleep to heal Good work getting 100 acrobatics
If you timed a Health potion you can use the jumping scrolls to jump to the top of red mountain and start the dagoth ur fight early (luckily he scale's to your level)
Morrowind memories, huh? "You betrayed the clan. Watch your back!" "You n'wah!" "Die, fetcher!" "I have a feeling you and I are about to become very close." *You are awakened by a loud noise* *You cannot sleep with enemies nearby* *cliff-racer noises* "You will die!" "Outlander." "What, Outlander?" "Greetings, Outlander." "Welcome, Outlander. I've heard so much about you." "Hello, Outlander. Care to peruse my spells?" Crassius Curio: "MMmmmm..."
I remember taking on that escort quest with that goddamn stupid naked Nord, and having to kill EVERY SINGLE MOB in sight everywhere we went, because he thought he could take on guars and nix-hounds in nothing but his underpants. By the time we got to the witch I didn't even need to hear her side of the story - I was so fed up of the raging tool I was quite happy to kill him. Morrowind is still my favourite game ever though.
i assume he was killed just around the start of the attack on kvatch, the house his head was in is right next to the gate, and the dremora seemed to catch him by surprize he that was probably just when the attack was starting, so jiub probably died just before oblivion started since you can get to kvatch as early as you escape and it seems the attack is pretty much done at that point with only the one gate left
Big Smoke i.redd.it/s5rg3gtslr2y.jpg Here you go. You'll notice the pointy ears and the scar on his eye when you find his head. It's in the house where that Dremora sorcerer comes out of, just turn left in there and it should be down at the end of the house.
When I was playing Oblivion, it made me want to play Morrowind again. When I played Skyrim, it made me want to play Morrowind again. Id' mod both games to make them more like Morrowind.
Morrowind also has more NPC's because there are almost no randomly generated ones. The bandits are named, as are the theifs and beggers unlike in Oblivion and Skyrim where they are randomply generated on the spot with just the name of their class.
I am not saying it means they are superior. It just means the Morrowind NPC's end up counted as handmade ones while the oblivion and skyrim ones are counted are randomly generated.
***** A lot easier to make dialogue when you dont have to worry about the VA's. Just type away. It's also great to try and exaust all dialogue options in Morrowind. In Skyrim you do that in 3 minutes. In morrowind if you grab a servant you can spend some 50 to 80 minutes depending on your reading speed to read through all. And by the time you are done you have so much lore its retarded.
@@OokileyGMR Yeah, that's one reason I don't fast travel. You feel more immersed when you actually take the time to walk through the environment people sat down to make after all (I've done plenty of mods, I would like if people walked through mine).
@@TheZephyrsWind I feel the exact same way after fighting through Morrowind. Fast travel just feels like cheating, and besides, you are missing out on all the random stuff you can find.
An Ordinator Mate. Ik this is late, but it's just a project. Skywind is a great ambition. Even though it may not be the same as the original, it's still a great concept. Nostalgia will never change. But you can vision it another way.
Morrowind is my second favorite game ever, and easily the best Elder Scrolls game. Most people will never actually beat it tho, cause if you thinkSkyrim is easy to get sidetracked from the main plot, you're in for a lomg journey with Morrowind.
It's really not a long process, just involves a lot of long treks. The same reason the Daedric quests are so rough to do in Morrowind compared to other games. Even with mark/recall... so time-consuming.
the worst thing about morrowind is the terribly organized jurnal, if you get side tracked you'll spend the next ten minutes or more trying to find the last main quest entry so you know how to proceed. also few thinsg are really time consuming ocne you know how to speed things up. get the boots of blinding speed, make a level 100 resist magika spell for one second. cast the spell equip the boots aquire a rising force potion, travel to vivec temple, offer the rising force potion to the shrine under the ministry of truth and you are flaying across vaardenfel in minutes.
@@windhelmguard5295 The journal is not "terribly organized". It is just laid out like an actual journal. If you got the quest three days ago, you have to go back to the section of three days ago. If you were an actual adventurer just off the boat in Morrowind, would you be naming your quests, or jotting down notes as you get them? Tribunal added some options to find old conversations and bring up quest entries, and all the entries are linked together. That made finding things easier, but I never let them sit long anyway.
@@tristanmitchell1242 if i actually was an adventurer off the boat in morrowind, i wouldn't even be keeping a jurnal because my memory is good enough for me to keep things that matter memorized and if i ever needed to take notes i would put some scribbles on a piece of paper which is thrown into a fire once i no longer need it, i certainly wouldn't keep my still relevant notes burried under a pile of no longer needed ones. problem is that i'm not an adventurer fresh off a boat to morrowind, i'm an adult in the real world who has shit to do and places to be, so memorizing all my quests is sadly not a thing i can do anymore.
I revisited Morrowind this summer and with various mods to upgrade the combat and visuals and had a fantastic experience. I'd been afraid to go back to it because I knew that time had passed it by in terms of graphics especially. That said, what shocked me the most after playing so many modern games, including both Oblivion and Skyrim was how much more difficult/challenging Morrowind was to play. Of course, there was also much more freedom (if you can dream it up you can probably either do it or create it in Morrowind). When you achieve something in Morrowind it feels like a real achievement and that only adds to the joy of the game. While the fighting mechanics are random and rely on D&D style rolls of the dice (unless you mod it a bit) Morrowind still offers much to players. The story is richer than any of the followup games and the limitations on maps and fast travel that we take for granted today really do add something because the player is forced to go out and ask for directions and explore his/her world rather than just heading from place to place. All of that makes it feel even more open as there's no pressure to stay on this questline or that one and plenty of time to roleplay. A lot of the things that make Morrowind special might not work today but there are plenty of other things that it offers that RPGs would do well to revisit and incorporate into more modern games. It would be nice to see devs from all RPGs revisit the things that worked in Morrowind in future games without compromising the improvements that have been made in the years that have followed.
I just installed Daggerfall yesterday and already I'm feeling like I need a dedicated gaming "rig" with a CRT monitor. I feel like Morrowind could take the same treatment. I haven't played Daggerfall enough to really know, but Morrowind would be a much better experience with it, and I'd gladly share it just because it's just that great of a game. I cann't really describe it, maybe nostalgia, but it just feels so good and modern games have never scratched that same itch.
Morrowind has been on the throne of best Elder Scrolls yet and so far hasn't been challenged for that title. Hopefully the next elder scrolls can hope to be half as good.
we can only hope. although i doubt it. im sure it'll be wonderful graphically, but mechanic and gameplay-wise...it might just get even more dumbed down than skyrim.
facts you don't realize unless you're from Maryland, the state Bethesda calls home - Morrowind's first town is Balmora. Balmora, Morrowind. have any of y'all heard of Baltimore, Maryland? ;)
It totally is. Balmora is the first city that really stuck with me, though - it's pretty much the one I think of when remembering Morrowind. That and Vivic... and the one with the giant mushroom houses... man that game was awesome.
Shrike Alrighty... so when you start a new character, you get off the boat and step into that office. On the shelves, there is a limeware platter worth $$$. Pick it up. You get a free pass and a warning about stealing since you just started. HOWEVER, when you pick it up, INSTANTLY drop it. You'll still get the talk of disappointment, but since you dropped it, the programming in Morrowwind registers that platter as having no owner. You can pick it right back up with no issues, and you can go sell it. Head to Balmora (been forever, I think that's how it's spelled), join the thieves guild. Buy some lock picks and buy levels in lock picking. Do the first few missions. There's a guard tower in the town, opposite side of the town, near the member of The Blades. Inside that tower on top of a bookshelf or cabinet or some shit, you can barely see a hilt to The Sword Of White Woe. Steal it and sell it. Buy more lock picks and levels in lock picking. Anything else you come into contact with, steal and sell. There's an early thieves guild mission where you steal a diamond. I may have sold that as well instead of turning it in??? Anyway, head to Vivic, directly to a vault. There should be those fancy yellow guards all over the place, but no biggie. Pick the locks right in front of them because you're a god damn fucking Alpha. It will take MANY tries. The guards will be like, "Plz stop." And you pay $5 gold for each attempt. You should have enough money from selling shit beforehand. Eventually, you'll unlock it. Step in, shut the door, stay out of sight to become hidden. Boom, epic treasure, weapons, and armor.
I miss the fact that you could fly, and put all kinds of crazy enchantments on items as long as you had the skill and coin. When you sold an item to a shopkeeper, and it was better than what they already had, they wore it, and if the item had a harmful enchantment on it, it would kill them. Good times.
Fact.14 dagger fall was not hand crafted,it's just another Minecraft game, and look how boring they are, look guys the games were good for their times, but, let it go.....let it goooo let it goooo let let it gooooo....ohhh shit wtf am I singing!!!his a mania a lovable mania, his a maniaaaa...help me I can't get it out of my head...pls!!!
I remember the talking mudcrab on the southern coast on 1 of the small islands that was also a merchant with 10,000 gold and i remember how much fun it was to build my own stronghold and taunting people into attacking you so you could kill them without getting a bounty (miss that a lot) and the guy who gave you the boots of blinding speed etc.
It was a gal and she was a hoax... Nice boots though, I mostly just killed her because she's a criminal anyway and if you bring her up in Conversation in Caldera or her destination they will all just say "Good riddance"
Was it a girl? I thought it was a naked dude,oh well too long ago to be sure so i'll just agree with you,but ya those boots were a good item if you had magic resit you could block the blindness and then you just got the speed thats part of the reason i used to play as breton cause they got 50% magic resist then you just needed to get the saviours hide chest and you could wear the boots and have full sight.
+demonocus drumocus Tip: Make a spell of 100% magic resist for 1 second. Cast it, open your backpack (the timer stops when you do), and put the boots on. Bingo. Also, there are several (mostly around Caldera) naked guys that give you stuff for helping them. But the Boots of Blinding Speed do come from a woman. Redguard. Her name starts with a 'P' I think...
Mild Monster The flaws aren't in any aspect fundamental whatsoever. It's not like in Skyrim where you have to mod core things of the game in order to make it interesting. Using the MCP to fix the glitches is all it takes really.
People are allowed to have opinion. It may not be the best game of all time and you're right there never will be, but for a lot of people it is their favorite of all time.....
+Fernweh Based on what I said in my comment, the way you worded your sentence makes no sense. But, if I decipher well enough, I can guess that you meant that Morrowind doesn't deserve the Test of Time Award. Just so you know, they still to this very day, make mods for Morrowind. After like 15+ years. This means there is more content available to last probably your whole entire life (oh yeah, you know that game Skyrim? It also sorta required Morrowinds existence.. to.. ya know, exist? So it was the foundation for Skyrim, whether you choose to deny it or not) Then you got Skyrim... That game that lasted so long, they had to make a newer version of it, to keep it up-to-date. So yeah, what was your argument again?
Ding ding ding! You got it right ! I meant it doesn't deserve it, but you obviously knew what I meant so I don't get why that first part was necessary. Yes, people do make mods for Morrowind, but there's no point in mentioning that considering all of the other TES games have an active modding community. In 15 years why don't we see if Oblivion and Skyrim have active modding communities and we can see on which lasted longer... Morrowind was the foundation for Skyrim and Oblivion, but both of those games improved greatly on Morrowind's mechanics. I doubt most people got this, but Skyrim SE wasn't for pc... it was made so console players got to have better graphics and faster loading times. Why do you think pc players who had the legendary edition got it for free? Now that I'm done with that, I'll get to my argument. Have you ever looked up 'Morrowind character creation'? Have you seen all of the character creation guides? Yes? No? Well, that doesn't matter because all you see is guides. Compare that to.. Skyrim. Now, when you look up 'Skyrim character creation', what do you see. A couple guides, yes, but you also see mods, videos, and 'beauty' guides.Compare that to Morrowind. Let the results of both searches sink in for a moment. Yes, I know that EVERYONE uses this but the combat.. the combat it so bad. People say "Well, treat it like a table top rpg!" but we're not playing a table top rpg. We're playing a video game. Last thing I'm gonna say, the journal/quests. I get that some people have no life (or way too much time) and can spend 10 hours trying to get from point A to Z in games, but not everyone has that time. And I'm not even taking emotions into account. I'm pretty sure most people would be frustrated about either going the wrong way or running back and forth.
When you look up "how to make a build for skyrim" you come up with the same LVL 60 Thief-mage-warrior-vampire-werewolf hybrid. If you want to actually consider the game "completed" In morrowind, you literally imagined it yourself. As though you were playing a Dungeons and Dragons game (I am basically saying you need creativity and imagination or else it is pointless) It don't get better than that. Also, why is time relevant? If you really care about time being spent in a game, don't play an RPG. EVER. or a video game for that matter. The definition of a hobby is to waste time doing something you enjoy. Maybe you just don't like traditional RPGs and instead prefer Action Adventure games (with stealth elements)? There's a hint. I stand by everything I said in my previous comments. P.S. I don't see why your first comment was necessary
as someone who did not grow up with morrowind and started with skyrim and went in reverse with the games going all the way to the first (thanks dosbox) i can say WITH NO NOSTALGIA that morrowind does not hold up well, its clunky, slow, full of bullshit ways to die, fucking cliffracers, and WHY DOES MY SWORD NOT HIT THIS THING!!! dont get me wrong i appreciate morrowind for everything its done but EVERYTHING it did has been done better now. oblivion (even if it isnt the prettiest) is the perfect mixture of both skyrim and morrowind for me and i feel it held up much better. (im sorry for all the grammatical mistakes and spelling errors but its late and im too tired to edit my comment essay)
One of the many great things about Morrowind is that, after the chargen you can do anything you want to. You dont have to do any quests if you dont want to. You can just wander out into the world and have a blast. Made and released over 100 mods for Morrowind, started with Morrow Ravens and then Caits horses /donkeys and never stopped for years. Miss the days of the old mod forums and the many friends i made. Those were the best of times.
I played Morrowind back in about 2004 for the first time. I thought it was AMAZING. Granted I hadn't played any games other than old Nintendo (Dragon Warrior 4 was my favorite). When I get my new laptop I plan to put some games on it. Morrowind will be one of them. I prefer to play theive characters and am able to get my level up really high in about 20-30mins from starting a game. I just have a good starter plan. Once I am up there I love how open it is go just go where ever and do whatever. Lots of side quests. You can just get lost in it. And I also agree the music is great. I love when it starts to rain too... kinda soothing. And the sound effects, like the creatures. Yeah, it's one of those ones I got lost in for hours. I think one of my favorite quests are the ones given by Azura. Her voice is pretty awesome too.
Ah yes, we've been expecting you. You'll have to be recorded before you're officially released. There are a few ways we can do this and the choice is yours.
God I love Morrowind so fucking much. I honestly think it's the best game ever. Dated but just amazing. Oblivion is somewhat comparable but in a different way. And Skyrim doesn't even come close whatsoever. Somewhat like Jiub: Staada. She sort of like an Easter Egg. She's a Golden Saint that appears in Morrowind, Oblivion, and maybe Skyrim (I don't remember) but yesterday I came across her in the Alik'r Desert in ESO. she's a boss fight at Inner Circle (I believe it's called)
Staada you kill for the Azura daedric quest in Morrowind. She is the head of the Golden Saints in Shivering Isles, the Oblivion expansion You just said she appears in ESO. And then there is Skyrim, the red-headed stepchild of the family. There are basically no Daedra in Skyrim, just a Dremora and Atronachs. Magic in general was pretty crappy in Skyrim. No customization, no multi-effect spells. Just "Here is a fire spell. It spews flames. Here is another fire spell. it shoots flames. Here is yet another fire spell. It shoots larger flames." The only interesting thing was Runes, which allow for traps if used right. There was no "open", no "levitation", no "summon Scamp", no "Reflect Magic", no "absorb health", and no "Disintegrate Weapon/Armor".
Fetcher...I think my fav Morrowind quest is Sheogoraths, Raven Rock colony and the Wood elf you have to kill in Mornhold...I swear That wood elf was almost impossible to kill. plus I miss the constant effects and levitating spells
The thing I noticed about Morrowind is that high speech craft is a muct. I would just constant talk to guards in town, over and over, increasing my speechcraft slightly with each success. If you don't have good speech craft than you miss a lot. It's a lot more important in Morrowind than Oblivion, or Skyrim. It was a grind to get it up, but it was necessary.
Tribunal was so much better than Bloodmoon, imho. I liked Morrowind better than Oblivion, and Skyrim slightly less than Morrowind, but not by much, yet I liked Skyrim a ton more than I liked Oblivion. The best thing about Oblivion was the Shivering Isles. Sheogorath is a hoot!
@@Gilpow When I first played Morrowind, when I was like twelve, I didn't like Bloodmoon all that much. I thought Nords were the BEST THING EVER, and so played as one. Unfortunately, without mods, nords are immune to frost and have a 25% resist shock. So, I went up there and told how powerful and scary these "Snow Wolves" and "Snow Bears" were...and then hit them with my axe taking no damage. They kept casting "Frost Damage" spells on me, which Nords are immune to. Now, I play with mods that change the Racial Bonuses, including put Nords at "Resist Frost 75%" and remove the Shock resistance.
An Ordinator So basically Morrowind's still not good without mods. Of course it can, the terrain it does handle isn't as detailed as in Skyrim & with Morrowind being older than Skyrim of course it's expected for it to run better than Skyrim!
Morrowind's like the ONLY game I own 5 times. Once on Xbox normal version, then the gold edition with all addons. Then 2 times the PC version via disk(one got lost/broke) and then on Steam gifted to me. Love that game, probably the most fun I have ever had with an RPG aside from other games in the series.
I remember my friend was over and we were taking turns playing, and we were near the start exploring just after the little tutorial and saw the huge shadow in the water. Literally ran forever and never stepped near water the rest of the time we played the game. Like, we used that jumping scroll and landed in the ocean and turned off the Xbox lmao
Morrowind was the first Elder Scrolls game I ever played, around 2003 or so. It was also the first game that I bought twice, bought the vanilla game them the GOTY. I actually recently bought it for a third time, and have been playing it, tabks to Xbox One backward compatabilty. Just finished the main quest for my first time, and now I am working on Tribunal.
bloodcorer Thank you, everybody else has kept ignoring Morrowind's flaws or denying the flaws. But the stealth can't be forgiven, it's awful and I hate it with a passion.
Another thing i hate in Morrowind is the no mana regeneration. It makes a realy hard start where your gold is low to buy mana potions, your spells have a % chance of succes which all eventually lead to ''Wait'' every time so your mana will come back.
Lol yes, morrowind was my first elder scrolls game for the original xbox and i still play it till this day on my PC 😀 The other elder scrolls games just can't beat the depth of morrowind, almost unlimited spells you can create, many potions you can make, many armors and weapons you can find and buy, many npcs with their own stories and personalities, you can quests whenever you feel like it, there's consequences if you join multiple guilds and depending on the quest, that adventure feeling when you walk around and might get lost but its great....etc... you get the point xD 💙💙💙💙 We need more games like this...but people these days can't handle hardcore games without quitting, which many people do when they play morrowind, its too much for them. I used to play Super Ghouls n Ghost for the SNES and man it was super hard but i kept trying.
Mad respect for your level of patience playing it on Xbox. My best friend at the time played only on Xbox while I was PC-Master-Racing Morrowind and when I saw his load times and horrible draw distances on Xbox I could only mourn for him.
The moment when you exit the census office and Nerevar rising plays and the silt strider makes that noise it makes will stick with me for a long long time.
the morroiwnd soundtrack is highly overrated. the individual tracks are nice but they simply don't cut it, with how long the game is, hearing the same tracks over and over and over again i started geting sick to death of it. luckily you can copy the music filles from an oblivion folder into the morrowind folder to add more variety but even then it's hardly enough to not hear repeats over and over with how big the game is.
500 hours into this game and I still haven’t beaten it. I don’t know, I got bored around the first three hours but promised myself to keep going. Now, I don’t even know what I’m doing.
As a Dutch person I learned most of my English playing that game! And I have to say I didn’t mind reading at all, at least in my head I made every person sounds different. Something oblivion completely ruined. But the thing that I hate most is losing more npc’s, ingame content, lore etc just because well.. the want it voiced.. I was 13/14 when I got my hands on it. A friend of mine gave me his copy to try it out. I still remember getting released from the census office and immediately texting him “ok what now, is there anything I have to do?” He texted back “no just go explore”.. So there I went.. about to experience the best game I had or would ever play untill today, thinking I probably wouldn’t like it because wtf.. what’s a game if you don’t have to do anything. How I interpreted that sentence the wrong way! Haha I still think (as I did back then) that the way he told me what to do was the best way he could have done it!
I miss being able to fly. Bring back the levitation potion. Oh male PC could where skirts. You could use spears. Last but not least the quirky spell system the allowed things like spell permanence if you added soul trap to the spell and cast it at your feet.
Being able to exploit the spell system in a "in game" kinda way by commanding non-essential NPCs to be your body guards made me feel like a boss wizard. You just had to be careful not to "sever the threads of prophecy". Which as will all know could happen when playing straight. There where near 80 essentials that were killable. So you say glitch. I say legendary level game mechanic.
+Donkey Toll is it game breaking to summon a dozen Daedra to fight for me? Hell Know I am a fucking Wizard I expect that shit to already be in the game.
+Keith Barrett This guy. This guy understands true RPG gameplay freedom. We shouldn't have to try to break the game just to have fun. Just let us have the ability to do what we want to do. : D
Ah, Morrowind. How I love this game. I was in school for the Air Force when I bought the game back in 03/04. My first character was a Bosmeri Thief, which I enjoyed greatly. On a Thieves Guild mission in Balmora, I got into a scrap with House Hlaalu's guards, culminating in the death of someone named Nileno Dorvayn. Hundreds of hours later, I needed to get Hlaalu's support to become Hortator for the main quest - only to realize my earlier murder spree put me on their bad side. The person I needed to speak to make amends? Yup, Nileno Dorvayn. I broke the main quest and was forced to start over. I never loved a game so much as I did for that. Actual consequence. It was only later I learned I could've talked to Crassius Curio to make amends, which really got me. I've yet to see a game since that had actual consequence as this.
Still playing Morrowind, have been since my mother got me into it. It's cool growing up with a gamer parent, especially one that shows you all the good games like the original Thief games, Elder Scrolls, and Age of Empires to mention a few.
Evan O Callaghan In terms of gameplay (without any mods), Oblivion/Skyrim wins. But I think Morrowind's writing, game progression and quests are superior.
I loved Morrowind so much ;) It was so cool that you had to collect shoulder pads too as pieces of armor, each glove was apart from the other. The difficulty level of the game was so much better than in Skyrim... Oh, how nostalgic. My favourite game ever.
I still play Morrowind to this day. Not only was it the best Elder Scrolls, it’s one of the best games ever made. I would love for Bethesda to go back to that level of detail in the ES world design, and that level of freedom for character progression. I wish we could get a port of Morrowind on Switch.
I remember the first time I loaded up Morrowind, It was the first RPG I ever played, I didn't even know what to do when I started playing, I was just so overcome with adventure I had never seen a world so one of a kind on such a scope before. I spent hours just walking around the world.
For it's time it was great. I got it, and played it the original xbox, and played for hours every day, for a year. I still have it on my original xbox and that old xbox still works very well. I have Oblivion, and Skyrim on xbox360, in a separate room from my XBox1, with the new updated Skyrim, and ESO, and other Xbox1games. I go and play Morrowind for the fun of it every now and then. thanks for your info.
I downloaded Morrowind 3 days ago, and I have been playing it constantly. I've already racked up 25 hours and I am thoroughly enjoying it. It is much more skill based and hardcore than oblivion or skyrim, and I'm absolutely loving it. I have yet to make very many memories yet, except the fact that I hate cliffracers, and I have yet to get through one dungeon without getting my ass kicked, or obtaining a debilitating disease that forces me to drop all my equipment, or have no magicka regeneration. It's hardcore, it forces you to rely on scrolls and potions, and there is a lot to discover.
Lunatic. Ah, using the console to get superjump, get up on a roof so no one could touch you, and just shoot every civilian and guard with bow and arrow. The memories... Did that to every town/city I came across until I couldn't find anymore NPCs nearby
Grandmaster Kush Morrowind has the best soundtrack, and is the best ES game, in my opinion, and that isn't nostalgia, I played Morrowind after both Skyrim and Oblivion
The Morrowind soundtrack is not amateurish. It is the base for a lot of epic songs in the sequel, and he has leaned more since doing Morrowind, but it is far from amateurish. Not trying to be hostile, but Idk if you could do a better job haha.
I just really like the music. I wouldn't call it amateurish, but like I said, he has learned and improved since then. But not amateurish. I wasn't saying anything bad about anyone (or not intending to) just saying that not everyone can compose. He did a good job.
finding and owning the crescent blade has to be my crowning achievement. but also owning all the legendary items and weapons from the book that tells you about them. its been so long now that i dont remember what the book was called or where i even found it from. but the fact that if you read the book and keep it on you, it told you about the weapons and items and there power they hold... that was amazing to me.
Spellcrafting and the magic system in general was fantastic. I hated by loved that you really had to master a school of magic to be able to use more powerful spells consistently. My absolute favorite spell was Fortify Jump. Alchemy was also really cool, requiring you to assemble your own lab of up to 4 pieces of equipment each of which could be of different build quality and each contributing to more powerful and pure potions.
I was a kid when I started playing morrowind. I got lost for two real life weeks because I didnt have a paper map. The only game I've ever played for two years straight. Best game.
This game is phenomenal. While mechanically the games have gotten better with Oblivion (kind of) and Skyrim (very much) I still think Morrowind was by far a better game in both story and world building. Vivec is still up there as one of the most amazing cities in any video game. And so much awesome armor! Indoril and Her Hands. And of course the Royal Guard set. So epic.
CHIM, C0DA, zero-sum anyone? This game had such an exceptional, well-thought, sophisticated and obscure lore that even after more than 13 years people still argue over its details.
almost all of that was invented like 10+ years after the game came out. even what chim means isn't described by any in-game lore, it was all written out later by michael kirkbride based on basically his headcanon.
after playing it for 2 days the first time i started a new char. names navorow and then went to caldera and killed navaro and took over his home. i decked the house out with all types of gems, skulls and made it look so cool. i still wish i had that xbox so i could show people that house. i spent alot of time placing things where i wanted them and decorating that house. i also enchanted a very high lvl ring with 2 secs of 1,000 athletic ability and called it " the ring of toad maddness" you run, hit the ring and then imidiatly jump, sending you flying into the clouds then, just before hitting the ground you hit the ring again to land safely. i loved that ring, saved alot of time and after the ring i didnt need the big giant flees anymore. one of my freinds who was also into mw at the time told me "they mite as well call this game navarow wind"
I always liked how Vivec City is touted as this huge metropolis, but when you get there, there's no one there. I know, they're all inside except for a few guards, but even then... I've seen more people in a tavern in Skyrim. Anyways, totally agree with you Falcon, the Morrowind theme is the best of all of them, and perhaps of all video games.
haha morrowind has more npc's than skyrim and oblivion combined. vivec alone has around same number of npcs there are in imperial city from oblivion and solitude from skyrim combined
I love Morrowind. It is my favorite game ever. I still play it sometimes. And to my knowledge, there is only one thing in the entire game I have never done. Despite my best efforts, I have never been able to find the Scroll of Wolf-Ender.
You forgot to mention that in Morrowind you are one of the basically founders of Raven Rock and in Skyrim if you go back there - a few hundred years later - it's like looking at a child grown up. That moment for me was spectacular. I also liked that Skyrim took one of the main musical themes from Morrowind, felt like home :)
STORY TIME - Dear Falcon, Here's my Interesting/Dull memory of Morrowind Recently moving into the new city back in 2002, my mom brought me and my little brother out to check out the city and do some shopping. She found one of those liquidation stores that had a sizeable video game collection. Two games caught my eye with the box art. Diablo II and Morrowind. I knew nothing about either game. Morrowind has more appealing screen shots in the back of it than Diablo, so that was my reference point into what kind of game I was going to be. I still held both boxes the whole time unsure which I wanted to play. Until we got to the cashier my mom noticed the skull on Diablo II and obviously told me to take the other one, I was 11 After all. I knew I wanted Morrowind the whole time but i thought i could get away with her buying me two video games. At the time we also got our first family PC, and I knew nothing about PC and gaming. My only gaming console prior to that was a Sega genesis and N64. My knowledge on gaming with PC's was very much like a console. I put the game in it plays. Well our PC couldn't play the stupid game. I didnt know anything about graphics card, or minimum requirements until after the purchase. This totally killed PC gaming for me. I thought, man these things suck if you have to buy a better one all the time. I still really wanted to play it cause the art inside the box looked amazing and I never played a First Person type game before in my life. Honestly, I never heard of Doom or Wolfeinstein. Anyway so I tell this to a new friend I made in class the next day how stupid PC's are. He asked if he can borrow it and I said sure. But I was clear about how I wanted it back as soon as he beat it. I never got the fucking game back. I asked him again before we graduated grade 8 in 2003. He played dumb. He stills own my game (my mom's technically) To this day I have never played it. My first elder scrolls game was Skyrim. Every minute i put into that game was incredible. Totally immersed. Being hooked into this series almost 10 years later I started to work way backwards. I played Oblivion. I loved so much, especially with all the expansions. And still I think about Morrowind and that stupid kid I lent it to. His name was Imre; pronounced Em -ree. I still don't know anything about the game until I watched this. Best part, I just bought it during a steam sale and I own a MACbook...I still can't play it being a PC only title. I'll be buying Parallels soon enough. I'm a huge gamer now and I know there's many ways I can go about playing it (getting an xbox or PC) but I just wanted to share this stupid story because I probably could have been a die hard fan and huge PC gamer all those years back. I just got into PC gaming a year ago and there's a ton of gems out there. Cheers!
Wow, what a story... Your friend was an n'wah for "stealing your game"! And you really should play it sometime, it's such a good game... The best TES game ever!!!
You can play it though the engine openmw. Just Google it. It runs better and has less bugs. Also, there is an android version of this engine. Look aty channel.
Recently I've started playing Morrowind (this game is older than me by 2 months ) I find it challenging and interesting. Lack of fast travel made me explore the world, but it is great! To be honest when I played Skyrim for the first time 5 years ago, I didn't know about fast travel and I loved exploring! Glad I can do this in Morrowind
Favorite morrowind moment was using the jump potion from the guy who falls out of the sky near the first village with feather spell. Tried jumping from mainland to solstheim, overshot it and spent 20 minutes swimming back. So much fun with that game even without mods.
Jeremy Soule also did ESO Morrowind song Land of war and poetry and it's INCREDIBLY good, at the end of the song it reverts back to Nerevar Rising. Very beautiful.
You can actually find his head in kvatch
Damn.
@@masterblaster2273 did you actually read his whole comment?
I think the best part of Jiub's appearance in Skyrim is that instead of using the usual male Dunmer voice from Skyrim, he uses the male Dunmer voice from Morrowind, from the original voice actor!
No not Jiub he's my N'wah
I was in high school when Morrowind was released. Now that I'm a school teacher, I religiously play Morrowind during my summer and winter breaks to celebrate my vacation. It's a ritual that I never see dying.
Dude you can play it on the smartphone. I am absolutely hooked since 3 weeks. Look for open microwave on the playstore. I hope I made your day.
I'm the same way with Skyrim.
i do that with oblivion and star wars knights of the old republic
Really how
My favorite Morrowind memory, and good peak at the depth of the game... was on the coast, exploring ruins... the ruins extended underwater, I followed and there was stuff you could get, I think I found a chest underwater there... eventually I near a statue...
I tip my hat to that team.
voodoochild1975az WOW. That sounds awesome. I didn’t play Morrowind back then but I just recently got an Xbox one and I am starting to play it now.
Praise the Daedra.
@@swahilimaster M'aiq is not exactly easy to find either, though.
As for Eltonbrand, it is almost impossible to find by chance. It truly is just an easter egg.
Now see how many people figure out how to upgrade it without a guide
It's thanks to Morrowind that I developed an unhealthy habit of involuntarily blurting out, "YOU N'WAH!" whenever someone gives me trouble. I am currently seeking psychiatric counseling for my problem.
Only a strong dose of Telvani bug musk will cure you.
Just lay off the Skooma

I always come back to Morrowind. I've sunk more hours into it than any other game, and it will always be my #1. I love seeing where Elder Scrolls goes as a series, but nothing quite captures the magic of Morrowind.

I can't believe how original all the monsters in Morrowind were compared to oblivion and skyrim. You were actually suprised to see new creatures in this game.
The nix-hounds will always haunt my nightmares

After playing Morrowind for hundreds of hours year ago, I have a feeling that I still didn't find all of the mobs in it.
That ogre always freaks the hell out of me when i see it

Thank you, have a great day .
bamjam1 I wish Skyrim would’ve been like that
@Gary Garratt Yup i agree, i was always dissapointed how dumbed down it got for oblivion then skyrim come out which is basically just fallout with a new skin what i'd give for it to be at least like oblivion level system.
Generations come and go
Sounds like Morrowind brought in a whole new generation and flipped the bird to the toxic Daggerfall fans, amazing lmao
Holy shit I forgot how CANCEROUS the daggerfall fans were. Buncha pussies.

You revealed *MORE* things in that simple post, than this crappy video did!
Nick O'Connor Tahriel always makes me laugh. He reminds me of Terry Pratchett's hapless wizards at unseen university
As for the scrolls i jumped so far out to sea with that scroll it was impossible to get back to shore - i got got trapped on a rock by slaughterfish and couldnt sleep to heal
Good work getting 100 acrobatics
If you timed a Health potion you can use the jumping scrolls to jump to the top of red mountain and start the dagoth ur fight early (luckily he scale's to your level)

My favorites
"Why walk when you can ride"

"And there I was. Alone. Naked."
Maerahn there’s a naked nord in Mournhold that is rather confused that you think he’s cursed or diseased. He’s just naked cause it’s hot there!
idk about you but for me it was a 20 second walk
5:08 he died at the start of Oblivion, you can find his severed head in Kvatch
Yeh he died from a dremora trapping his soul with a black soul gem before though, that's why you can find him in the soul crain.
Reuben Isaac I was more referring to him saying he died at some unknown time and only being mentioned in Oblivion
can you screenshot that? i've never seen it in game before
i assume he was killed just around the start of the attack on kvatch, the house his head was in is right next to the gate, and the dremora seemed to catch him by surprize he that was probably just when the attack was starting, so jiub probably died just before oblivion started since you can get to kvatch as early as you escape and it seems the attack is pretty much done at that point with only the one gate left
Big Smoke i.redd.it/s5rg3gtslr2y.jpg Here you go. You'll notice the pointy ears and the scar on his eye when you find his head. It's in the house where that Dremora sorcerer comes out of, just turn left in there and it should be down at the end of the house.

I remember Solstheim being larger and more scary in bloodmoon than in dragonborn ... it felt like they cut the size in half or something.
I think it's due to fast travel and faster walking pace Skyrim has. But Solstheim was indeed scarier and more mysterious in Morrowind.
Morrowind's Solsthiem DLC took you to a completely new environment and Skyrim's Solsthiem DLC took you to another snowy area.
@@OokileyGMR Yeah, that's one reason I don't fast travel. You feel more immersed when you actually take the time to walk through the environment people sat down to make after all (I've done plenty of mods, I would like if people walked through mine).

Even with mark/recall... so time-consuming.
the worst thing about morrowind is the terribly organized jurnal, if you get side tracked you'll spend the next ten minutes or more trying to find the last main quest entry so you know how to proceed.
also few thinsg are really time consuming ocne you know how to speed things up.
get the boots of blinding speed, make a level 100 resist magika spell for one second.
cast the spell
equip the boots
aquire a rising force potion, travel to vivec temple, offer the rising force potion to the shrine under the ministry of truth and you are flaying across vaardenfel in minutes.
@@tristanmitchell1242
if i actually was an adventurer off the boat in morrowind, i wouldn't even be keeping a jurnal because my memory is good enough for me to keep things that matter memorized and if i ever needed to take notes i would put some scribbles on a piece of paper which is thrown into a fire once i no longer need it, i certainly wouldn't keep my still relevant notes burried under a pile of no longer needed ones.
problem is that i'm not an adventurer fresh off a boat to morrowind, i'm an adult in the real world who has shit to do and places to be, so memorizing all my quests is sadly not a thing i can do anymore.
@@windhelmguard5295 One of the expansions fixes this problem and lets you view entries by individual quests.
I love how the town of Raven Rock as it exists in Skyrim was largely founded by the Nerevarine
I wish I had a pc powerful enough to play it
The game came out in 2002. Any modern potato PC can easily run it, if not at max settings.

My biggest accomplishment in Morrowwind: I robbed the vaults in Vivic on the second day.
Holy fuck, how?
Shrike I'm at work, but I'll explain when I can.
The Game Genies Time to hear
Mine is beating all the quests in Oblivion within 12 hours.
-wears Ordinator stuff...
-speaks ro ordinator
Ordinator: "the only way you couldve gotten this, is by stealing it, die!"
fuck.
Her hands armor :D
I miss the fact that you could fly, and put all kinds of crazy enchantments on items as long as you had the skill and coin. When you sold an item to a shopkeeper, and it was better than what they already had, they wore it, and if the item had a harmful enchantment on it, it would kill them. Good times.
Fact 11: Morrowind is the best TES game.
XSCORPIO The fact that you called it "another Minecraft game" tells me that you haven't played the game at all and judge games purely on graphics.
Arthas Menethil i think he meant that it's randomly generated but idk
Arthas Menethil fact 15: Oblivion is simply the best.

you are my slave now
orion gaming Hey ill tell no one but i really need that bottle of skooma
and i have no gold with me (gold=100 000)
I found Jiub's head in oblivion. In the destroyed Kvatch.
A True Slav Same :'D
A True Slav its called kvatch.
A True Slav was about to say this!
He was the hero we deserved.
+ShiftyDog that's what he said.
+demonocus drumocus
Tip: Make a spell of 100% magic resist for 1 second.
Shame the beast race can't ware shoes in morrowind.
@@gavinl1565 let me guess, argonians?
Morrowind was simply amazing. Greatest game of all time.
noisepollution lol
noisepollution Ahh yes please ignore all of its glaring flaws some more please
Mild Monster The flaws aren't in any aspect fundamental whatsoever. It's not like in Skyrim where you have to mod core things of the game in order to make it interesting. Using the MCP to fix the glitches is all it takes really.
Gtumblo Apfot There is no and there never will be a greatest game of all time ....
People are allowed to have opinion. It may not be the best game of all time and you're right there never will be, but for a lot of people it is their favorite of all time.....
I voted Morrowind for the "Test of Time" Award in Steam's Game Awards.
I feel really disappointed that it went to Skyrim instead.
but it doesnt tho
+Fernweh
Based on what I said in my comment, the way you worded your sentence makes no sense.
So it was the foundation for Skyrim, whether you choose to deny it or not)
Then you got Skyrim...
If you want to actually consider the game "completed"
In morrowind, you literally imagined it yourself.
Am I the only one who's sad that the taunt option was never implemented in future games?
NO.
I'm currently playing through Skyrim with a Sneak / Illusion build - casting Rage when you're hidden works a lot like Taunt 😁
How perfect! I just recently bought Morrowind so I could experience The Elder Scrolls in full
floppyDisk best elder scrolls game
Just make sure to install some Overhaul mods and mods in general ;) They make Morrowind look really good ;)

You better play Skywind.

I've been so nostalgic for morrowind since the new year started! Has everyone else been feeling it too?
I was even playing it today when this video was released
Anton Broomé me too!
Playing it aswell atm :)
Something so nostalgic about it..I just love it
Anton Broomé I started a new magic user a couple days ago
Magic is crazy OP :)
One of the many great things about Morrowind is that, after the chargen you can do anything you want to.
You dont have to do any quests if you dont want to.
You can just wander out into the world and have a blast.
Made and released over 100 mods for Morrowind,
started with Morrow Ravens and then Caits horses /donkeys and never stopped for years.

Comments you can hear
Morrowind also has the most potent drugs in the series.
Daddy Caius makes sure he only gets the best stuff.
The 36 lessons of vivec are the real proof of it
God I love Morrowind so fucking much.
She is the head of the Golden Saints in Shivering Isles, the Oblivion expansion
You just said she appears in ESO.
Morrowind should be a game engraved in rpg culture..it was the starting point of a new generation of rpg
It isn't even a real rpg
@@ElFenixNocturno then what's your definition of RPG?
@@user-ms5tq1dh7i yeah same question here
The thing I noticed about Morrowind is that high speech craft is a muct.
CHEESE! FOR EVERYONE!
Both great, but I was obsessed with Bloodmoon, even more than with vanilla Morrowind lol
I absolutely loved Bloodmoon; becoming a werewolf and stalking through Fort Frostmoth is a memory that really sticks with me.
dark brotherhood of oblivion ist the best
Should I buy morrowind?
no
Screw it I'll get it anyway
I would say yes. It's super cheap. But the pacing is very different and the combat isn't so good. But everything else is amazing.
Don't get Morrowind unless you're ok with it's very noticeable flaws.
An Ordinator
So basically Morrowind's still not good without mods.
Morrowind > Skyrim > Oblivion
Let the shitstorm begin.
Vandiril I prefer oblivion over Skyrim
Sam Choromanski me too
Other way around
Morrowind has the most fatal problems
Morrowind>oblivion>skyrim.
Skyrim is one of the most boring games I've ever played
Levitation... Never Forget!
Mark your memories, then Recall.
It has the most ridiculous stealth system though.
stealth is a fucking joke in morrowind
bloodcorer Thank you, everybody else has kept ignoring Morrowind's flaws or denying the flaws.
Stealth sucked, magic sucked and the melee combat was monotonous, but everything else was perfect.
bloodcorer but the alchemy system was the best imo
Lol yes, morrowind was my first elder scrolls game for the original xbox and i still play it till this day on my PC 😀
The other elder scrolls games just can't beat the depth of morrowind, almost unlimited spells you can create, many potions you can make, many armors and weapons you can find and buy, many npcs with their own stories and personalities, you can quests whenever you feel like it, there's consequences if you join multiple guilds and depending on the quest, that adventure feeling when you walk around and might get lost but its great....etc... you get the point xD
💙💙💙💙 We need more games like this...but people these days can't handle hardcore games without quitting, which many people do when they play morrowind, its too much for them.
Morrowind IS simply the best soundtrack, it's better than most movies
The moment when you exit the census office and Nerevar rising plays and the silt strider makes that noise it makes will stick with me for a long long time.
the morroiwnd soundtrack is highly overrated.
the individual tracks are nice but they simply don't cut it, with how long the game is, hearing the same tracks over and over and over again i started geting sick to death of it.
luckily you can copy the music filles from an oblivion folder into the morrowind folder to add more variety but even then it's hardly enough to not hear repeats over and over with how big the game is.
@@windhelmguard5295 i agree. I love all of them. Morrowind: Nerevar Rising: Reprise. Skyrim: Far Horizons. Not sure what's the name in oblivion.
I remember jump height being an ability you could train too, I hardly ever used the levitation spell after that got high enough
Yeah you would end up hopping every where you go. Some times to the detriment of the cell render.
Thank you for this, I would love a even more/longer detailed video of Elder scrolls can't get enough of it.
Just started to replay Morrowind GOTY
why is it so hard to replay the biggest issue i have is the attack failed thing
Anima 311 Sure that, but the most important why I replayed Morrowind, beacause i didn't finish it and now i use graphics mods
zauberr85 You just choose a weapon and just by using it you just level up that stat

I love this game so much. That and KOTOR were my middle school games I never put down.
Still playing Morrowind, have been since my mother got me into it. It's cool growing up with a gamer parent, especially one that shows you all the good games like the original Thief games, Elder Scrolls, and Age of Empires to mention a few.
All time best game.
pSyk wrong

We all have our own opinions
Evan O Callaghan In terms of gameplay (without any mods), Oblivion/Skyrim wins. But I think Morrowind's writing, game progression and quests are superior.
sorry but thats the witcher 3
I loved Morrowind so much ;) It was so cool that you had to collect shoulder pads too as pieces of armor, each glove was apart from the other. The difficulty level of the game was so much better than in Skyrim... Oh, how nostalgic. My favourite game ever.
But you ran so slow until the athletic skill gets leveled
I still play Morrowind to this day. Not only was it the best Elder Scrolls, it’s one of the best games ever made. I would love for Bethesda to go back to that level of detail in the ES world design, and that level of freedom for character progression. I wish we could get a port of Morrowind on Switch.

Bob Spencer so who gives a fuck?
Very cool :)
I remember how I never played the story instead I was killing guards npcs and stuff to get loot hahaha
Lunatic. Ah, using the console to get superjump, get up on a roof so no one could touch you, and just shoot every civilian and guard with bow and arrow. The memories... Did that to every town/city I came across until I couldn't find anymore NPCs nearby
Oblivion has the best soundtrack, the morrowind soundtracks are more simplistic and just amateurish, altough they are iconic and nostalgia inducing.
***** 100 % true
Grandmaster Kush Morrowind has the best soundtrack, and is the best ES game, in my opinion, and that isn't nostalgia, I played Morrowind after both Skyrim and Oblivion
my favorite soundtrack is daggerfall's but morrowind is my favorite ES game. Also I should add I think morrowind's music fits it perfectly
10. The reason why some good games were never made... Copyright and trademarks have destroyed so much potential...
Best game.
Most important fact: it is the best one from the series!
worst in my opinion
Please explain!
Daggerfall was better IMO

great job gameranx another cool video!! ps i love the elder scrolls
a bit late how?
Hoptoad ring dude
I always liked how Vivec City is touted as this huge metropolis, but when you get there, there's no one there. I know, they're all inside except for a few guards, but even then... I've seen more people in a tavern in Skyrim.
Anyways, totally agree with you Falcon, the Morrowind theme is the best of all of them, and perhaps of all video games.

I love Morrowind. It is my favorite game ever. I still play it sometimes. And to my knowledge, there is only one thing in the entire game I have never done. Despite my best efforts, I have never been able to find the Scroll of Wolf-Ender.
woah, gameranx does a video on morrowind?
i love this game
You forgot to mention that in Morrowind you are one of the basically founders of Raven Rock and in Skyrim if you go back there - a few hundred years later - it's like looking at a child grown up. That moment for me was spectacular. I also liked that Skyrim took one of the main musical themes from Morrowind, felt like home :)
*sees elder scrolls in title*
*MEGA CLICK*
*sees morrowind after elder scrolls*

STORY TIME -
Dear Falcon,
Here's my Interesting/Dull memory of Morrowind
Recently moving into the new city back in 2002, my mom brought me and my little brother out to check out the city and do some shopping.
He stills own my game (my mom's technically)
To this day I have never played it.
Dude you can play it on the smartphone. I am absolutely hooked since 3 weeks. Look for open microwave on the playstore. I hope I made your day.
You can play it though the engine openmw. Just Google it. It runs better and has less bugs. Also, there is an android version of this engine. Look aty channel.
@@markwtal9453 great stuff I am still hooked.
Recently I've started playing Morrowind (this game is older than me by 2 months )
I find it challenging and interesting. Lack of fast travel made me explore the world, but it is great! To be honest when I played Skyrim for the first time 5 years ago, I didn't know about fast travel and I loved exploring! Glad I can do this in Morrowind
Yes, I'm still playing & modding it after 16 yrs. It is my alternate life.

You can see Jiubs dis-embodied head in kvatch in the house to the left as soon you walk in the gate.
Favorite morrowind moment was using the jump potion from the guy who falls out of the sky near the first village with feather spell. Tried jumping from mainland to solstheim, overshot it and spent 20 minutes swimming back. So much fun with that game even without mods.
I always named my character Jiub and made himself look like him XD
what?
IDENTITY THEFT IS NOT A JOKE, JIUB!!! MILLIONS OF FAMILIES SUFFER FROM IT EVERY YEAR@!!!!
After I beat Skyrim remastered imma play oblivion then morrowind, don't ask
thats exactly what i did
then Daggerfall, Do It. just don't punch in 'tgm' out of frustration because the older the game, the harder the game
Matt Steiner where can I get these games?
i got them on steam and amazon
Oblivion and Morrowind can be bought on Steam or GOG, Daggerfall is now a freeware game that Bethesda released on their website
Jeremy Soule also did ESO Morrowind song Land of war and poetry and it's INCREDIBLY good, at the end of the song it reverts back to Nerevar Rising. Very beautiful.
