Darlene, I started quilting in the early sixties. I made my first quilt with my great aunt bea . After her birth in 1892,She came west in a wagon train , with her family. We used scissors to cut material, hand stitched the blocks and collected old clothing to make blocks. And hand stitched the backings on. Kids this day won’t understand this statement, but my family were German immigrants . We made all our clothing and I wasn’t allowed to wear pants until I was in high school. I taught my girls to quilt the old way then somewhere down the line they asked me why I didn’t sew my quilts on a machine. I kind of thought anyone could do that. 😊I have seen a lot of videos nd still fall into the hand stitch method. I guess that is for me and I will let the young crowd do there thing.😊MR keep doing your thing. I like your style!😊
