I cared for my mother for over seven years and when time allowed I would play classical music and enjoy quality time next to my mum, I always felt my mothers aura, she was caring, warm and a joy to be around. Listening to this just brings me to tears. I always loved this piece but as we often listened to Khatia play other works it makes it all the more special. They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.... Khatia's playing is the window to her soul. Utterly beautiful, although mum passed ten months ago I feel her presence listening to this.

Erik Satie (and, apparently, almost every other composer) said, "Music is the space in between the notes". This is a perfect example of what he (they) meant. Beautiful!

Agreed, but here it went too long so the last note and the next note's spaces were so wide, they didn't connect for me and I fell out of the mood. Just my opinion. I love her art on other pieces.

What is wrong with listeners who jump up on the last note and shout "Bravo"?
      I would ban them all.
I know of only two conductors who call for up to half a minute of silence at the end of a symphony, holding their arms in an "active" position, absorbed in the reverberations and thus also giving the listener time to return to reality.
One of these is Valerie Gergiev, for example in Tchaikovsky's Pathetique.

I once had a debate with a friend whose piano teacher had (allegedly) studied with Debussy. According to this teacher, Debussy insisted that Claire de Lune must be played in strict adherence to the time signature/meter. Well, said I, that's fine if you want sound like a mechanical reproduction. But if you want to sound like a human being with an iota of emotion, you will play it as the music moves you. Now THIS was...Human! Thank you so very much for daring to be fully human in your expression of this master piece.

    Hats off.

She's either too fast or in this case too slow, with too many retards in between the theme. You like it because you're obviously familiar with the music. However, a first time listener or someone who is vaguely familiar with the piece may well be yawning halfway into it....I love her playing though, and I'll take anything she gives me.

If you want to listen to every delicious drop, listen to Debussy himself playing it from a sophisticated reproducing roll that he complemented on its accuracy. Utterly different! Available on line. And she is also wonderful.

Superb interpretation. When an artist is able to silence the mind and to transpose de soul to another silence dimension, we are standing in front of a genius. You seemed not real talking about the soul. Respect!

Ich bin sprachlos. Es erscheint gleichsam die windstille Vollmonnacht, die Natur in silbernem Licht gefangen, eine Grille zirpt und du hältst nur noch inne und lässt dich verzaubern von diesem wunderbaren Moment.

    Beautiful interpretation by Khatia Buniatishvili.
The work of the sound engineers remains incomprehensible. Not only here.
They should record the piano. Only the piano. Nothing but the piano. 100% only the notes of the piano. Allowed would be the mumbling of the pianist.
But what do you hear? The rattle of an audience member in row 35. The repeated coughing of an audience member in the gallery. A box of heart pills falls out of someone's hand.
Coins fall out of a pocket during another recording. Another has a bunch of keys fall out of his hand. One of the people with flatulence gets up and wants to leave the hall, knocking over the chair. Perfectly recorded in audiophile quality.
Artists like Khatia deserve better recordings.

The pianist, achieves absolute silence and attention from the audience, generating a wonderful atmosphere, which Debussy gives us with his work.
