Another option is to remove the steering dampener. May be easier for some. Either way works. Video well done too. And like you said, the electrical connector is a bear.
I noticed you were using a Phillips screwdriver to remove the airbox/lid etc.The JIS screwdriver of the correct size will avoid the potential for stripped out screws as the correctly fitting JIS screwdriver or bit will avoid the camming out that occurs when using Phillips screwdrivers/bits on JIS screws
