Yes, the chip shortage has caused 22 models to be shipped without the DESS anti theft. This lock along with some other options offers some theft deterrent.

So if I understand this right,if I didn’t have this lock on my sled ,anyone could jump on it and off they would go?

These are free for those who have purchased 2022 sleds that didn't come with the anti-theft system
I would give my left one to have a doo
from the factory without that garbage DESS key!
