So, how does one deal with a tantrum? The answer is simple. You let them play out. Unless they're going after your stuff. Then you beat them into the dirt.
If you have a stack of components you can just seal it behind walls so they will never target your stash , also works for organs and other expensive things you don’t want attacked by rage

The third kind can be stopped by walling your pawn where no valuable is present. This can be done by quickly building wooden walls on both sides of a narrow corridor that your pawn has to go through to damage your valuable. Or, more easily, you can use the Skip psycast to send the pawn into a wall corner and then immediately use the wall raise psycast to lock them there. Without anything valuable, the pawn's tantrum will end and they will get the catharsis mood buff. Actually, a good number of mental breaks can be solved with the Skip + Wallraise combo. Murderous raise and targetted insulting spree are good examples. Without anything to target, the break will immediately end. This also works with social fights. Other breaks won't be immediately solved, but will become a lot less problematic, such as Berserk (prisoners try to break doors to reach other pawns but they won't attack walls), Give up and Leave (they will change mind relatively quickly), food binges and drug binges. Also, a lot of mental breaks will be interrupted if a pawn collapses from exhaustion. This can be exploited by overworking Tortured artists in particular. By forcing them to work 24/7, they will only eat when starving, they won't get any recreation and they won't sleep, which will generally lead to mental breaks. But usually those breaks won't last very long since the Tortured artist will just collapse from exhaustion.
I actually use All Memories Fade. It gradually causes the negative mood lits to improve over time. It kind of smooths out the occurrence of mental breaks to something more fluid.

It’s way too easy for pawns to go on mental breaks. Just avoid the hassle and install grim reality.
I also use the Royalty thing that lets you snap them out of it. Idk, some challenges I want to keep unmodded.
