I definitely remember this very vehicle, and I believe it is the same vehicle I saw back in 1977. If it is, as the dates match up as I saw one up for sale in 1977 at a place in Hermosa Beach, CA. for 90K. My wife and I had moved from Chicago, IL to Southern, CA and I begged her to do everything we possibly could to buy the car. This had been my favorite Ferrari for years. But I failed to convince her we needed to buy this car. I still live in Southern, CA and we have been divorced for many years now. However, my dream of owning a Ferrari did finally come true as I was able to find and buy a 2009 F430 true manual 3 pedal stick shift 6 speed gated transmission. I had found it for sale in Salt Lake City, UT and brought it in 2017. Could this be the very car I remember, seeing back then? I believe it is. So was this car in Hermosa Beach, CA up for sale asking 90K back in 1977? If not it's still a stunning beautiful vehicle!! Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
The black Trans-Am in the background looks like your uncle Bob’s old car. Haha. He used to pass on the Cavallino magazines to me that Mike would send him 30+ years ago. Listening to your stories about your dad saving the tops that he chopped off of the coupes and the cost of rebuilding old Ferraris reminded so much of his articles from car magazines in the 80’s. “Exotic Misery” I think was the tittle of one from back then that I enjoyed reading. So cool to hear those stories again. Good job.
40 years ago, I visited a Ferrari workshop in Surrey England- there was a Daytona with all the parts laid out- I didn't take a picture ! film and development was expensive for a student back then- this reminds me of that day- love it : ) PS spider conversions were also very popular in the UK, mostly by 'Autocraft' ? can't remember the name anymore- but they kept all of the roofs because they knew that one day . . . . the original coupes will be worth more than a chop top- how clever is that? I also would not chuck a Ferrari roof in the trash ; ) Similar thing happened to a friend of mine who bought a BB which had been converted to a König- luckily the original panels were still preserved to be rebuilt on his car when the 'König' trend died out : ) and another thing- you really have knowledge of the cars- I appreciate that very much-, great work and thanks
It's commemorate the victory. Commeromize isn't a word. Perhaps you meant memorialize? Commemorate honors the memory of an object or a person whereas memorialize is providing a memorial of a person. Love the content you're providing, the cars are all gorgeous.
Jaw dropping. I still can't wrap my head around anyone cutting the top off of a Ferrari 365. Even back in the day. It seems barbaric even then. Keep up the great work.
Ive just discovered your channel and subscribed. Really enjoyed the video, well produced, very interesting informative and entertaining. Wishing your channel well for the future and looking forward to many more great uploads. Best wishes from Ireland 🙋♂️☘️
Even after paying someone to complete the entire restoration with carrying costs of money etc you would come out at least 200k to the plus. AND you would have a pristine restoration of the lowest mile Daytona Spyder known to exist... - most it would take to complete the resto would be 18 months most of that redoing the body in the correct color. - - there would literally be very little to source to complete it... soft parts - hoses- belts - all the camel leather- of course you have to do it back in Yellow over Camel. All the pieces stamped with the body numbers in beautiful original finishes is something true Ferrari geeks just drool over...
This was sold as a project. Hopefully we can do another video on it once it is restored. You can view more details on it on our website. Where there is a full photo gallery etc etc. (Link in description.) And thanks, we are actually in proccess of digging out a few other barn finds aswell.
So over the five years production of this model they made less than 1500 VIN numbered cars intended for the street. That's fewer than 300 per year total even if 25 were spyders, that's hardly any when you compare to other automakers and makes any and all Ferraris rare. Rare is a rather redundant word to use when describing Ferrari as they had only made about 12,700 street cars total since starting in 1947. As a point of reference at the same time Ford was making a half a million Mustangs a year. Your EPA comment does not account for the fact that cars today are much faster, have significantly more power and handle much better. I wish you had shown a closer look at how crude many of the parts of this car are while you had it apart. Those stamp steel suspension parts are pretty ugly but not as ugly as the mild steel square tube frame and the many hand welds holding it together or the many flimsy mounting points. Or how tiny the brakes are and how heavy all these pieces are when compared to anything modern. Look at the wiring harness and switch gear if you want to show a rats nest of cheesy problems hiding under hand stitched leather. As for your number stamps any restoration shop will have sets of these stamps so while it's good to find the numbers it's no guarantee of authenticity on anything but an unrestored cars. I'm not knocking it just being honest, these Pininfarina bodied cars are really beautiful. Please paint it yellow again!
i cant believe people can say oh this is yellow i want it red lets paint it red or oh this is berlinetta coupe lets make it spider like wtf damn who are you?? lol i dreamed of getting ferrari f355 one day and if i were to get one i would take care of it like a baby there is nothing in the world can give factory original ferrari feel, heck yeah rosso scuderia or rosso corsa is real ferrari color but imagine getting one in unique color like azzuro california or verde pino... damn i could sit there next to those ferraris and listen this woman talk about ferraris all day
I can see 70s chop shop guys stamping 1313... yeah, cherry no bodywork or rust, original 😏 In reality it a piece of sheet metal from JC Whitney stamped 😆
Did you guys get this for a steal? I sort of hope so, because your family has been good to me in the past (2012 - helped me out in Guam) and it would be cool to see you guys get some good karma.
I bet they paid what it was worth, they have a very good reputation to uphold and I'm certain they did the right thing with the owner. The final value of this car is going to have a lot to do with how well the assembly is and it looks like a complete new interior is also needed. The car should be returned to its original Giallo Modena or Fly Yellow. I'd say that kind of work is worth well over one hundred grand in parts and labor. It needs to be with specialists like the Sheehans.
Thanks for posting. Please keep us updated on progress.
To me there is no other car as beautiful
There are few cars more beautiful than the 365GTB4 Daytona. A classic Ferrari.

Thanks for this upload. If your dad only would have kept theses roofs :-). Times are changing, aren't they?
Very rapidly too.
My very favourite car,I would love to sit in one.
They are one of our favorites too. I tried sitting in this one. The seats work better with cushion 😆
We are doing one in our facility now.
You should do a VINWIKI story about this. That is a very special vehicle 1 in million find.
#VINWIKI
That’s Awesome!
Thanks. Having been in the restoration business ourselves for many years. It is always fun finding buried treasure.
You sure have a treasure! Congratulations!!
After restoration will you folks keep this or sell it. Sadly, I cannot afford.
Congrats on the find!

You got a little off topic; are you going to return this car back to its' original color from factory? Yellow over Black??
Yes, It is currently in proccess as i am typing.

Please paint it yellow again!
Is this the original of the black imitation Ferrari in Miami Vice? Before Enzo Ferrari decided to gift the white Testarossa to the series production!
Like what ever.
Nice find !! What year is it ? 1971 to 1973 ? What is the serial number ? ( so we could follow up )
More information on this car can be found on our website at ferraris-online.com/cars/barn-find-1973-ferrari-365-gts-4-daytona-spyder-17041/

Ferraris Online how are you Colleen
That LP400 Periscopio is *too* distracting.
That will happen. We struggle with it all the time.
This was the car Wayne Carini tried to buy.
Boy,you can tell she’s a car salesman. Hard sell.
W.O.W.
What is the white car behind the daytona at the end??
A woodill wildfire. The first fiberglass car. We will be doing a video on it soon.
@@FerrarisOnline sounds good. Thanks
